Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 369: Leaving The Base
"That’s true, but finding their weaknesses won’t be easy. Especially since it’s not convenient for humans to get close to them.
Unlike the aliens that can shape shift and take on human appearance, humans don’t have that ability.
We can only rely on remote surveillance, which will take a long time ." Leng Pan complained as she put the last piece of clothing in her carry on bag.
She didn’t really have to pack since she had the space bangle but she had to carry a bag for appearance purposes.
Even though everyone else in their inner circle knew about her space ’superpower’, the others recruited later weren’t aware.
Also, they were going far and if other survivors on the way noticed that everyone else had a bag except her and Lu Zhen, then they would raise suspicions.
"Don’t worry too much about that. We will find a way." Lu Zhen comforted.
Of course he had a way. Doesn’t that handsome alien claim to love Leng Pan so much and want her to be safe? Then he will put that love to the test. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Let’s see if he is willing to betray his kind to keep the woman he loved safe.
Lu Zhen’s insecurities had disappeared little by little under Leng Pan’s show of love.
He now knew that the woman he had lived for two lifetimes only loved him and could not be swayed. That was why he was so confident in approaching his love rival.
"Mmm...I believe we will find a way." Leng Pan agreed. Taking a deep breath and pushing all those thoughts to the back of her mind.
"Let’s go eat dinner. The sun has gone down and the temperature is dropping. We can have a comfortable family dinner before leaving." Lu Zhen suggested, grabbing his wife’s hand and walking out of their apartment.
The heat had been so exaggerated in the last few weeks that their intimate time was limited to only when they could sneak into the space bangle unnoticed.
They also didn’t want that guy roaming in the bangle to notice them and ask questions about why he still couldn’t go out.
They let Shade keep him company.
In fact, Hao seemed to like Shade a lot. It seemed he could understand the wolf language and the two had become close companions even more so than the master, Lu Zhen.
The mutated plants Lu Zhen had tamed for Leng Pan had also been planted on the land in the space bangle and was watered with spiritual spring water every once in a while.
Auntie Li would also visit sometimes to feed it wood energy and it was thriving.
It seemed to have advanced and its battle prowess multiplied.
Leng Pan hadn’t tested its power out yet because she hadn’t wanted to expose their trump cards in front of those sneaky aliens who had been watching them. But now that they were no longer being watched, and they were going far from there, she could try it.
The crops in the farm within the space bangle had been harvested and stored in the warehouse and more had been planted and were almost ready for picking.
But that would have to wait until they were back.
"Don’t forget to protect yourselves first if you encounter danger.
I know you guys are strong, but you still have to be careful." Mother Li had started nagging again, but none of the youngsters complained.
There were many children who had lost their parents in the apocalypse and wished they could be nagged like that but couldn’t.
So, they weren’t going to complain about being cared for.
Amidst the nagging, Leng Pan, Lu Zhen, and Lu Tao said goodbye to their family and walked out the door.
The corridor was clean and empty.
Juan Ke’s team that was traveling with them was already waiting outside the building with their luggage.
Two cars had been towed out of the underground garage where the salvaged and repaired vehicles were kept.
They had just been filled with gasoline and ready to leave.
At nine o’clock in the evening, the temperature had dropped and the roads were no longer boiling hot. So, the tires wouldn’t be affected.
The large team of almost fifteen people got into the two vehicles as many people stood outside various buildings within the base and watched them.
Word had already gone around that the leaders were going on an important mission and were taking one of the teams with them.
Seeing Juan Ke’s team get the chance to go out and explore with the commanders, the others were envious and vowed to work extra hard come rain or sunshine.
The two vehicles drove out of the tall gates one after another and the gate closed behind them.
They headed in the direction of the neighbouring city where the largest testing center was located.
They had decided to go to the largest one because its equipment was more advanced and would probably have the technology to detect aliens’ DNA.
This was a privately owned testing center that was dedicated to researching gene mutation to find a cure for diseases such as cancer.
Leng Pan and Lu Zhen sat in the back seat of the first vehicle and looked outside at the rapidly retreating scenery.
It could no longer be called a scenery anymore because all there were were broken buildings and collapsed towers.
Roads were so wrecked it should have been a crime to call them that.
Leng Pan looked at the city that was still thriving a few months ago and her heart felt heavy.
Lu Zhen was right. They had to find a way to get the aliens out of their planet.
Only when those aliens left, could they go back to rebuilding their world.
Even if they would have to do it in the midst of fighting zombies, they still had to do it.
"A penny for your thoughts." Lu Zhen’s voice suddenly echoed inside the car.
He had noticed how absent-minded his wife looked and wanted to distract her from her wandering thoughts.
