Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 367: Lu Zhen’s Love Rival
Leng Pan stood at the window watching the setting sun. The temperature would start going down about an hour after the sun sets.
She was thinking whether to go out that night or not.
"Baby, what are you thinking about?" Lu Zhen’s voice came from beside her as he also watched the setting sun.
"I don’t know whether we should go out today or not." Leng Pan confessed her dilemma.
"There is no more danger. Those aliens have stopped watching. We can go out without worrying now." Lu Zhen comforted her.
He knew she had been annoyed by the game of cat and mouse they had been playing, but now they didn’t need to fear exposing themselves.
"There are still eyes in the dark watching. I just don’t know what that person wants. I can tell that they have no hostility towards us, but they won’t join us either.
It’s confusing." W
Leng Pan complained to her husband, her face scrunched.
"Just pretend they are not there. Don’t bother about them since they are not enemies." There was a sour taste in Lu Zhen’s words but Leng Pan didn’t catch it since she was completely in the dark.
What she didn’t know was that Lu Zhen already knew who was watching.
He had discovered him long ago and since he always concentrated on Leng Pan, it had made him vigilant, so he had sneaked off during one of their supply hunts one day and confronted that person.
When he saw him, he recognized him as the alien they had seen the other time in the snow.
After a round of battle and failing to defeat each other, the two had finally calmed down and talked.
Lu Zhen had not been happy with an alien watching his wife, but the alien had reassured him that he meant no harm, if anything he cared about Leng Pan’s safety.
He explained that he had been there in the last apocalypse. And the reason they had enough time to launch the eviction protocol and leave the earth space at that time was because he had held the aliens back long enough to buy her time.
He just hadn’t expected Leng Pan to choose to sacrifice herself for the safety of everyone else.
He had been severely injured at that time from fighting so many aliens to buy them time and hadn’t been able to protect her.
But he was not going to let something like that happen again.
So, whether Lu Zhen liked it or not, he would watch her closely.
He knew it was impossible for anything to happen between them considering the difference in their species but that didn’t stop him from loving Leng Pan.
Lu Zhen had been shocked at the time. He hadn’t expected his love rival to be an alien.
However, since the guy wasn’t a threat to his wife, he just let him be. He just had to know that he was the one Leng Pan loved.
"How about we go get the DNA testing equipment? Hao is probably cursing us for ignoring him for so long." Leng Pan remembered the family member in the space bangle and suggested.
"That’s a good idea. If he wants to join us out on missions, we have to make sure he isn’t a threat." Lu Zhen agreed with basically everything his wife said.
"Okay, let’s prepare then. We won’t take too many people. At most ten people will be enough." Their base had grown so much now there were different departments.
Most of the founding members were leaders of different teams, but some had refused to part and stuck to Leng Pan and Lu Zhen like glue.
One was Assistant Yao who said he would follow his boss to death. Another one was Janna, who seemed to have placed Leng Pan on a pedestal like a god.
There was also Lu Tao who claimed that he would stick with his family.
Most of the others were now leaders of their own teams.
Leng Pan intended to take one of those teams that was good in combat. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"How about we take Juan Ke’s team? It’s one of the teams growing so fast that it’s astonishing." Lu Zhen suggested.
"That’s true, I don’t know what that guy feeds his team. They are so motivated in training it’s not even human." Leng Pan was aware of each team’s progress and she knew how quickly Juan Ke’s team had grown.
"His dedication is unmatched." Lu Zhen agreed that the team led by Juan Ke was exceptional.
When they were choosing members, he hadn’t chosen the strongest among the newly recruited survivors.
However, he seemed to have followed a criteria that focused on those who wanted to take revenge on zombies for killing their families or those with families they would die to protect.
That was why the people he chose were so motivated. They trained like it was their last day. Resting only a few hours a day.
Even when the sun was blazing outside and the temperature indoors had spiked to 80°, they didn’t rest.
The result was that in the first few days, many of them passed out from heatstroke and dehydration.
However, that didn’t stop them, especially since Leng Pan wasn’t stingy with water. She provided water to whoever needed it. So they weren’t afraid of dying of thirst.
The result was that their bodies adapted to the heat faster and also became stronger faster than their counterparts who only dared to train at night when the temperature was bearable.
Luckily, the others had noticed this improvement and also began to emulate them. But they were still far behind compared to Juan Ke’s team.
Now, the only reason Juan Ke’s team didn’t dare to go out in the day was because the direct ultraviolet rays of the sun would burn their bodies like fire.
They weren’t resistant to fire, so they could only wait until the sun went down before going outside.
