Chapter 361: Chapter 361: The Glowing Centipedes

The corpse seemed to be recent since blood was still flowing as the creature ate.

Leng Pan was almost certain that the body was one of those people who had been pulled under water when the ice melted suddenly earlier that day.

It was sad to realize that a human who had been talking and breathing just a couple of hours ago was already in the stomach of such a creature.

However, Leng Pan didn’t have the luxury of entertaining such emotions like sadness there.

The creature paused mid-bite and turned its massive head that was almost impossible to distinguish between the rest of the body.

Leng Pan held her breath as she stood still and watched the creature.

The water molecules in her body started vibrating as if asking for action.

The water in the surrounding areas also responded as if in resonance with her ability.

For a long moment, the two stared at each other as if in a silent challenge.

Two minutes later, the creature screeched and turned its body fully towards Leng Pan.

It moved so fast that it was basically impossible for a creature its size. But Leng Pan had no time to be shocked because the creature was moving towards her.

She reacted instantly, forming hundreds of thin water blades and launched them on the creature.

She used enough strength to penetrate the sensory armor protecting the surface of the creature’s body.

The force at which the blades were launched forced the creature backwards, slamming its massive body on the opposite wall, causing the bioluminescent veins on the wall where the creature landed to be squashed and light blue liquid oozed along the cracked wall.

Without a single pause, Leng Pan moved forward fast. Water compressed into a long whip adorned with burbs that had one edge shaped like knives.

She lifted her arm high and brought the whip down slicing through the creature’s skin like a hot knife slicing through butter.

The creature never had a chance to fight back.

Within seconds, its body had been sliced into large pieces and piled near the wall.

Just as Leng Pan breathed a sigh of relief, she suddenly froze.

She could feel a foreign presence behind her. Not just one, but at least six breathes.

She turned around slowly and came face to face with six pairs of glowing eyes trained on her.

She hadn’t realized that while she was busy fighting the centipede, more had come from other tunnels and blocked her path.

It felt as if they were being commanded with the way they stood in a formation to block every possible exit.

Leng Pan’s lips pressed into a thin line as she observed the creatures, waiting for them to move and reveal a flaw.

Killing one was easy with her current strength.

Killing six might prove to be a challenge, especially in such a narrow space where she had no freedom of movement.

The only advantage she had was her water ability.

There was a lot of water surrounding her, and she could use this battle to experiment a few things.

Unfortunately, she didn’t get that chance as on the surface, Lu Tao gasped at the scene he was seeing.

"What is it?" Lu Zhen asked solemnly.

"Those creatures seem to have surrounded sister-in-law." Lu Tao replied as he swallowed hard.

"How many?" Lu asked again.

He knew that if it was only one or two, Leng Pan could easily handle them and he didn’t have to worry.

However, Lu Tao’s reply caused his pupils to dilate as he sprang to action.

"I can’t count how many, but at least five have surrounded her and more are moving in her direction."

Lu Zhen didn’t even bother with changing his clothes. He jumped from the twentieth floor and dived into the water without hesitation.

He activated his ability and suddenly, his body was covered in flames that didn’t burn him but every drop of water within a radius of twenty meters around him evaporated into nothing.

All the way to the ground, a circle of dry land appeared and Lu Zhen landed at the center of the circle.

He slammed his fist to the ground and the concrete below cracked as stone and rubble flew everywhere.

The surface he was standing on caved and a hole appeared on the ground.

It wasn’t big, but it was almost one meter wide.

He was about to jump into the hole when he sensed movement coming at him.

Underground in the tunnel, Leng Pan was about to test if she could create boiling water and use it to burn those creatures surrounding her when the ground she was standing on shook.

The ceiling of the tunnel also shook violently and rabble began to fall.

The creatures seemed to have received an order and all jumped towards her at the same time while she was distracted by the commotion.

However, a hole appeared in the ceiling at that time bringing with it sun rays that burst through darkness of the underground and behind the sun rays was a pillar of fire.

The fire was crimson and so hot that the creatures attempting to attack Leng Pan stopped mid-jump, causing them to fall straight to the ground.

Leng Pan could already tell who had unleashed the fire and why.

She wasted no time as she covered herself with mist and launched herself upwards, passing in the middle of the pillar of fire like it was nothing.

When she landed beside Lu Zhen, hot steam could be seen rising around her.

"Are you alright?" Lu Zhen immediately held her by the shoulders and started turning her around to check if she was hurt.

He didn’t even mind the steam.

Leng Pan smiled at this and dissipated the stem into the air.

"I am alright. Those creatures can’t hurt me. Don’t worry." Leng Pan had to reassure Lu Zhen several times before he finally calmed down and breathed a sigh of relief.

"You cannot take such risks alone again in the future.

I have to go with you." He said with a finality in his tone that clearly indicated he was not negotiating.
