Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 350: Hao
"Do you need anything? You will have to stay here until we figure out what you really are before taking you out.
Do you have any objections?" Leng Pan asked a little cautiously because she had no idea how the creature would react to that.
"No, I am fine here. Come talk to me often." It was so well behaved it was almost illegal.
"Alright, we will come back next time when we have the time. Take care of yourself." Lu Zhen really didn’t know how to interact with this thing that looked both human and alien.
However, it seemed innocent enough as if it could be molded to their way of life.
They still didn’t know if it had any other abilities apart from transmitting sound to other people’s heads.
So, they had to take time and talk to it often to find out.
"We are leaving first. Let us know if you need anything.
If you have any requests, just say them out loud and Zee will let me know.
Zee is the person who takes care of the house.
There is a robot version so you can let it know what you need and it will relay the message." Leng Pan didn’t want to give the creature any opportunity to turn hostile.
So, she had to arrange everything before leaving.
"Okay. I will be good." The creature seemed defeated with the way it sighed at the end as if it was facing a nagging parent.
However, it seemed to like this feeling a lot. It didn’t feel bad. In fact, it made it feel closer to both Lu Zhen and Leng Pan. It just didn’t know what it was or how to express it.
Leng Pan thought about it for a moment before taking out an iPad.
It was one of the many gadgets they had used to download movies and other shows and documentaries on.
She moved closer to the creature slowly so as not to startle it and showed it the screen.
She turned on the iPad and opened the files, showing it the many things downloaded on it.
She selected a documentary about different living conditions of humans and gave it to the creature.
"This might help you understand humans more." She stated.
Once you are done, you can check out others that interest you.
"How about we give you a name before we leave?" Leng Pan asked once more.
They couldn’t keep calling it a creature.
"Yes. What’s your name?" The creature asked curiously.
It seemed to have some innate knowledge, though not the complicated kind.
But it was enough to interact with people normally.
"My name is Leng Pan. You can call me Panpan like my family and friends do." Leng Pan supplied a genuine smile on her face.
"His name is Lu Zhen, my husband. You can call him brother Lu." She added after seeing the creature nod its head.
"Then what’s my name?" It asked again with that baby-like curiosity.
Leng Pan turned to Lu Zhen for advice because she genuinely didn’t know what to call it.
"Let’s call you Hao. It sounds somewhat similar to my brother Tao. How about that?" Lu Zhen asked with a rare smile that only Leng Pan gets to see often.
"Okay, I like it. You are my brother too." Hao said happily as if he had become part of the family as well just because he was given a name.
"Alright, you can just stay here peacefully and we will come when we have time to visit you." Leng Pan reminded Hao before leaving the room with Lu Zhen.
They didn’t know that Hao had at that moment treated them like the closest family.
It was like a chick that had just been hatched from an egg and the first person to give it warmth was family.
Since Leng Pan and Lu Zhen had treated him well, it had developed good feelings for them and it had arisen its instinct to protect them.
After leaving the conference room, the two went outside the mansion and left directly.
They still needed to be careful about exposing their space because they didn’t know which greedy power would start eying them if discovered.
"What do you think of Hao?" Lu Zhen asked his wife as soon as they appeared in their bedroom.
"I think he is innocent enough and can be trained for our use.
It looks like it is somewhat like a blank canvas that can be painted however the owner wanted it.
What do you think?" This was indeed the feeling Hao had given Leng Pan and Lu Zhen was the same.
He had interacted with many people while doing business and had learned how to read people from their subtle expressions and body language a long time ago.
So, he could tell that Hao was indeed innocent and not pretending to be so.
"I believe he could be part of our team if we talk to him more about what is happening and let him feel that he belongs with us.
We don’t know what kind of abilities he possesses, so we will have to explore slowly." Lu Zhen was very practical about his plans and shared his vision with his wife.
Although Leng Pan also wanted Hao to blend with them, she didn’t want him to be used like a tool, no matter what he was.
"How about we let him assimilate into our team then he can choose what he wants to do in the future?" She asked straightforwardly.
Lu Zhen understood his wife, so he didn’t argue with her.
She had a soft heart and to her, every person had the freedom to choose their life and molding Hao to their benefit was equivalent to robbing him of his freewill.
So, he wasn’t surprised by her decision.
He was also happy that the apocalypse had not changed her kind heart and just made her more cautious.
"Okay, we will do as you say." He agreed readily to her suggestion.
