Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 349: The Li Family Creation
The two lovers were shocked into statues by what they had just witnessed.
They looked at the crystals that were falling on the foam on the floor and saying that they were shocked would be an understatement.
However, this level of shock was nothing compared to what they were about to witness.
Just as they were coming out of their stupor, a voice was heard within the room.
Or to be more precise, the voice was in their heads.
After the pod broke, the creature didn’t fall to the table or on the ground, instead, it remained floating in the same spot it was in before the pod broke.
It was as if it was fixed there and couldn’t move.
But Leng Pan and Lu Zhen were not that naive. They knew that it was floating with its own ability.
What made the situation special was the fact that they couldn’t feel any power fluctuations in the room.
It was as if the creature wasn’t using any special power to stay afloat.
Then came the voice, "Hello."
It was just a simple greeting that wouldn’t mean anything in a different situation, but at that moment, it meant quite a lot.
First because the creature could obviously speak as soon as it was born.
Secondly, because it was directly transmitting its thoughts to their heads directly.
This meant that the creature could invade their thoughts without permission.
This was way too dangerous because if that was the case, then they would have no secrets or privacy with it around.
If it was an enemy and not friendly, then that could prove very costly, especially now that they were training and planning to face off with zombies and the aliens in the future.
The two looked at each other and they could tell what the other was thinking with a glance.
They each thought that they should first get to understand the creature before taking any action.
"What are you?" Lu Zhen asked with a deep voice that he only used when talking about business deals.
This showed how seriously he took the matter.
"I don’t know." The voice was heard again.
Just like before, the creature didn’t open its mouth but transmitted its voice directly to their heads.
"Can you not speak out loud?" Leng Pan asked.
No matter how novel this situation seemed, it felt like her privacy was being invaded every time she heard that voice in her head.
"I can." This time, it replied out loud.
The voice sounded the same as the one in the head.
It was somewhat androgynous and was neither male nor female.
This also confused the two people because they couldn’t tell what gender the creature was.
"Do you know who you are, or what you are?" Lu Zhen asked in the same serious tone again.
Leng Pan also perked her ears when she heard the question.
She more than anyone else wanted to know what they had brought back.
"Who I am? I don’t know. What I am? Like you." The creature replied and this time, it opened its eyes then rose up and sat down on the table.
"What do you mean when you say, like you?" Leng Pan asked with a curiosity that was about to burst.
"I have the same genes as you. So I am like you." The creature replied matter of fact.
"What does it mean by having the same genes? Does it mean human DNA or the Lu family or Li family DNA?" Leng Pan was getting confused and had to turn to Lu Zhen to ask.
"I don’t get it either." Lu Zhen replied then turned to the creature that was looking at them with curious eyes as if it was seeing something interesting.
Leng Pan dispersed the mist when she realized that there didn’t seem to be immediate danger and also had Zee remove the foam that covered everything. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The crystals that had formed from the liquid in the pod were also collected by Zee.
"When you say you are like me, what does that mean?" Lu Zhen decided to ask directly instead of playing the guessing game.
"I can feel closeness to you. So, I am like you." The creature replied again, its arms that were longer than normal humans stretching as if to touch Lu Zhen.
Leng Pan was so scared that she pulled him away at a speed that could break necks.
The creature seemed surprised when she did that. It turned to look at her and said, "Not like you."
This, both Leng Pan and Lu Zhen assumed that it meant that the creature wasn’t like Leng Pan.
"Okay, the confusion is a little less now but it’s still there.
Does it mean that it is like you, as in male or your DNA because we can conclude now that it has nothing to do with me, whether female or family."
"Why do you say you are like me?" Lu Zhen asked again to get clarification because he didn’t want to get confused by the meaning.
"Close. Your blood is close to mine." The creature finally explained.
Both Leng Pan and Lu Zhen looked at the creature like it had grown two more heads.
It was talking about blood when it was very clear that the liquid running through its veins was purple.
What kind of blood was purple? And just how is its blood similar to Lu Zhen’s?
"Maybe because of the mixture with alien DNA, the color of its blood changed.
If we can use its blood and run a DNA test, maybe we would understand what it means." Leng Pan suggested this because they had to be sure what that creature was before thinking about letting it out or introducing it to the others.
"That’s a good idea, but we didn’t take any DNA testing equipment when we were collecting supplies.
We will have to visit an authoritative DNA identification center to conduct the test.
But I am assuming that everything is frozen now, so we will have to wait for a while." Lu Zhen wasn’t opposed to the idea of testing their genes and in fact, welcomed it.
