Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 348: The Human-Alien
The two disappeared from their apartment and entered the space.
The first thing they did was to check if the crops that had been watered and wood energy added had changed.
Just as expected, they were ready for harvest anytime, so Leng Pan decided that she would bring everyone in later to harvest the crops.
She didn’t waste more time there and headed towards the mansion with Lu Zhen.
Like always, the door opened as soon as she came close, and Zee could be heard even before they stepped inside the house.
"Welcome back Commander. Do you need anything to drink?"
"No need, Zee. I just need to check on the pod in the conference room." Leng Pan had come to enjoy communicating with the AI even though she knew it wasn’t a real person.
"Oh, that guy is about to hatch. You better go now and find out what species he is before he causes mayhem." Zee added light-heartedly.
"Oh, just in time then. We can find out if it is a friend or foe now." Leng Pan excitedly grabbed her husband’s hand and ran towards the conference room.
She pushed the door open and found that the cracks in the pod had increased and the whole glass structure was about to collapse.
She wasn’t sure what the liquid inside the pod was and was afraid that it would affect the things in the room.
"Zee, is there a way to catch the liquid before it splatters everywhere once the pod breaks?" Leng Pan thought that the AI was omnipotent since it could do so much and even understand human emotions.
"Sure, Commander Leng. Don’t worry about it. I will take care of it." Zee replied from somewhere within the mansion.
Soon, things that looked like foam appeared everywhere in the room. It was as if it was appearing out of thin air and within a minute, everything in the room including the place Leng Pan and Lu Zhen were standing was covered in foam.
Even if the water or whatever the liquid in the pod was splashed, it would be absorbed immediately.
Leng Pan marveled at this technology that humans in the twenty-first century had not mastered yet.
Yet it was said to be ancient technology. She sometimes missed the ancient times where technology was so advanced it was like a miracle compared to the present.
However, she was also aware that it was this advancement that attracted the aliens to their planet.
So, it was still better for humans to progress slowly.
Lu Zhen observed the creature that was still laying still inside the pod and wondered once again what it was.
Why had it been in that underground lab and why was it different from the rest of the experiments subjects?
"Do you think there is anything special about it?" He asked lightly.
Moving his face closer to the glass wall of the pod, he observed the features of the creature more closely.
He didn’t notice any difference except that its skin wasn’t as transparent as before.
Before, when they brought the creature back from the abandoned underground lab, you could see the purple liquid flowing in the veins in its body.
However, now you could barely see those veins.
It seems that it was still developing like a baby in its mother’s womb when they brought it back.
This also showed that the special meteorite inside the living room might have played a significant role in the maturity of the creature.
After all, it had been locked in that lab for decades and had still not matured completely.
However, only a few months after bringing it into the space bangle, it was already preparing to hatch.
This showed how powerful the so-called catalyst core was.
It also reiterated Leng Pan’s decision not to let it fall into the hands of the aliens, or traitors like Commander Qui.
"Let’s wait and see." Leng Pan replied to Lu Zhen while still thinking what the creature really was.
Was it an alien or a crossbreed between humans and aliens?
It looked too strange, so she couldn’t figure it out for the moment.
As the two were lost in their own thoughts, cracking sounds suddenly filled the room.
Leng Pan reacted quickly and surrounded herself together with her husband with mist made of spiritual spring water.
She didn’t want to take a risk even if she was the master of the space bangle.
The two humans were focused a hundred percent on the breaking pod.
Leng Pan held her breath and didn’t dare to breathe for fear of interrupting the creature or causing another kind of havoc.
Lu Zhen seemed to have noticed his wife’s abnormality and stretched his hand to pull her into his arms.
"Breath, there is no need to be so tense. Even if it’s dangerous, we can still take care of it and eliminate it. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Don’t be so nervous." He said, his voice soft and tender as if he was coaxing a young child.
"I know, I can’t help it." Leng Pan laughed at her own reaction.
She had seen so many strange things before, but this one thing actually made her nervous.
"It’s alright, it will be out soon. No need to worry." Lu Zhen kept comforting his wife while cradling her.
Leng Pan lay in Lu Zhen’s arms and took a deep breath and if to draw his scent I to her lungs to calm herself.
She had found that Lu Zhen’s scent was very reassuring for her. It gave her a sense of safety.
So, now that she was feeling nervous, smelling him was like taking a calming pill.
Just as the two were getting comfortable in their position, the pod finally gave out and surprisingly, the liquid didn’t scatter. Instead, as soon as it came into contact with air, it turned into hard crystals that looked like glass.
Leng Pan had never experienced something so magical before.
Watching liquid turn into crystals wasn’t something you see everyday.
Even when water turned to ice, the process was longer but the liquid in the pod seemed to have a strong reaction to air.
