Chapter 336: Chapter 336: Awakening the Ice Barrier

Leng Pan’s palms glowed faintly as she absorbed the ice from the frozen landscape beneath them.

The particles seemed to vanish into her skin as though her body had become a conduit for the very essence of water itself.

The more she absorbed, the more her control over the ice around her increased, her mind and body syncing with the environment in a way she hadn’t experienced before.

The people behind her obediently formed a loose perimeter as if to protect her.

Even the tamely perched vine on her shoulder seemed to sense the growing energy, its leaves vibrating slightly with anticipation.

It suddenly used a leaf that seemed to harden at will and turn into a sharp weapon to poke Leng Pan in the neck.

A drop of blood seeped from the wound and the vine absorbed it.

It was a contract signed silently. Leng Pan and the vine now shared the same fate.

Leng Pan inhaled deeply, letting her senses expand as if she could feel the newly formed connection.

Through the thick layer of ice on the ground, she could feel the faint pulse of water molecules as they shifted and rearranged themselves in the presence of her water ability.

Small cracks and shards of ice danced toward her like iron filings to a magnet.

Her hands became the guide that led the ice shards into her body.

"She never senses to amaze me," Momo whispered, her usual stoic tone tinged with awe. "It’s like she’s becoming one with the ice itself."

Before the group could marvel for long, Janna suddenly shrieked.

"Zombies. They are coming in our direction fast." The lingering fear in her voice told everyone that they were no ordinary zombies and the number was certainly not small either.

The team members instinctively surrounded Leng Pan who was still absorbing the ice in a protective stance.

"Everyone, get ready to fight." Lu Zhen gave the order while pulling his sword from his back.

Leng Pan didn’t move. Instead, she focused entirely on the ice around them. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

With a sudden motion, a wall of ice shot upward from the ground, solid and smooth, forming a barrier that stretched across the open field in front of them.

The zombies slammed against it, claws scratching futilely against the frozen wall, unable to break through.

"How about boxing them instead then eliminate them in the trap?" Lu Zhen asked when he saw how effective the wall was in blocking the zombies.

Leng Pan understood immediately and thought that she had absorbed enough ice.

Now she didn’t have to worry about not being able to create ice even in extreme heat.

She moved her hands using her water energy to draw the ice around them causing it to swirl in the air above their heads, forming a cyclone.

She continued to draw more ice making the cyclone spread and hover above the large group of zombies.

With a sharp downward thrust of her palms, she sent shards of ice raining onto the zombies trapped within the ice walls, piercing through their bodies with significant force.

The tamely perched vine on her shoulder seemed to feel her intent and jumped to plant itself on the ground.

It started to grow big at a fast rate and soon it was the size of a grown tree.

Tendrils started to extend from its trunk and numerous vines shot towards the zombies that hadn’t fallen.

The vines seemed to harden into metal as they pierced through the skulls of the zombies then retracted with a crystal core wrapped around it.

It dropped the crystal cores at Leng Pan’s feet before shooting out again and repeating the same operation.

Even Leng Pan was surprised by this action. She hadn’t expected her battle companion to be so useful.

Ouyang Jin, Momo, and the others sprang into action, fending off any zombies that managed to bypass the ice barrier.

Each strike and defensive maneuver was perfectly timed, a testament to the countless battles they had endured together.

It also showed that their recent training had yielded results.

As Leng Pan’s control over the ice deepened, she discovered something new.

It felt as if the ice below their feet was not only obeying her commands and moving according to her will, it was also lending her strength.

It was as if wherever there was anything related to water, she could replenish her strength infinitely.

Her body also moved faster than before.

Lu Zhen noticed this change immediately.

"It looks like your water control has improved again. You are almost integrating with the ice here." He muttered as fire balls flew out of his hands and shot towards the zombies that had used super-strength to bring down the ice wall.

Leng Pan nodded slightly. She didn’t say anything. She knew that her husband understood.

As the others engaged in a battle to fend off the zombies, Leng Pan moved out of their circle and focused on removing the ice on top of the roof of the warehouse they had discovered.

She had to create an entrance for them to use.

After a thirty minute battle, all the zombies were on the ground, still.

The team collected the crystal cores and came back to find that Leng Pan had already cut an entrance at the top of the roof of the warehouse.

She took the lead to jump inside with her body covered in the mist of spiritual spring water just in case there were zombies hiding inside.

Once inside the warehouse, Leng Pan finally allowed herself to exhale. The building was safe for the moment, its walls thick and cold, the ice forming a natural barrier that would prevent any immediate intrusion.

She also patched up the hole she had made on the roof with a thick layer of ice.

Lu Zhen stepped beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "You’ve improved more in one day than in the last month.

He could almost see the former Commander Leng in front of him.

"Your reflexes are now augmented by the environment itself." He continued.
