Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 334: The Tamed Vine
As he rubbed her back and talked in a soothing tone, Leng Pan slowly got rid of the image she had created in her head and finally her mind cleared.
She pushed Lu Zhen lightly and only then did he let her go, but not entirely.
He only put a small distance between them.
"Are you okay?" Lu Zhen, with a face creased with worry, asked softly.
Leng Pan felt like laughing when she heard his question. He was the one who was injured, yet he was still worrying about her at this time.
But this was what made him different. It was one of the qualities that attracted her to him. His unwavering love for her.
"Yeah, I am okay. What happened to you?" She asked worriedly as she looked him all over to see if there were hidden injuries under his clothes.
"Nothing much, just a battle with an overconfident plant." Laughter could be heard in his voice as Lu Zhen replied.
He was amused by his wife’s attempt to almost strip him in public just to examine his injuries.
He had to keep pulling her hands that were roaming all over his body and making it hard for him to breathe normally.
His wife seemed to have forgotten the influence she had on him. He was already aroused from all the touching and if she dared to take off his clothes, he would have to erect a wall of fire between them and the other members of the team to first fulfill his duties as a husband.
Leng Pan realized that her husband’s voice had changed and became more hoarse and deep.
It was at that moment that she realized what her touching was doing to him.
Seeing how he could still have such a reaction in such cold weather, she determined that he was fine and not heavily injured.
"What happened to the vines?" She asked after taking a deep breath.
She wasn’t as unaffected by the touching as she portrayed herself to be either, especially when she discovered her husband’s reaction.
"Here." A short plant about half a foot tall appeared in his hand. It had small round leaves and countless branches.
The leaves were a deep green color but the branches had an underlying red color almost spilling to the surface.
"This is....?" Leng Pan was confused. She had a guess in mind but didn’t dare confirm it.
So, she raised her curious eyes to look at her husband.
"The vine plant. It didn’t want to die, so it submitted.
It loves your water and is willing to stay by your side as long as you water it occasionally." A light smile was playing at Lu Zhen’s lips as he said this.
In fact, taming the vine hadn’t been easy and if he hadn’t burned most of its vines and almost pulled out its crystal core, it would not have submitted.
However, the price didn’t matter. Only the results.
Leng Pan didn’t need to know how he had tamed the vine, she just needed to enjoy her life and fulfill her dreams beside him.
If he could, he would fight alone to end the apocalypse, but he knew that his wife was not a Canary in a cage.
She was an eagle that should fly in the sky, so even when it pained his heart to see her hurt during battles, he had to swallow that pain.
However, if there was a way to make her life easier and safer, then he would not hesitate to implement it.
That was why even though the battle with the vine plant was cruel and intense, he did not back down.
The vine was a good battle companion. If Leng Pan had it by her side, it would reduce the risk of injuries and increase her battle strength.
"For me?" Leng Pan had surprise written all over her face when she asked this. She hadn’t expected Lu Zhen to engage in such a dangerous battle just to get her a battle companion.
She wasn’t stupid. Just because Lu Zhen said that the fight had not been dangerous she would believe it.
How could it not have been dangerous when he looked like a mess?
He was someone who valued cleanliness very much and would not let himself look the way he did just because he was in a fight.
"Yes, it’s for you. In the future, your battles will have a helper." Lu Zhen confirmed before grabbing Leng Pan’s hand and placing the vine plant on her palm. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
A rare bright smile appeared on Leng Pan’s lips. She knew that her husband wanted to protect her better, but was also repaying a favor for the time she got him the white wolf, Shade, as his companion beast.
"Thanks Hubby. I love it very much." The people around the two almost plastered themselves to the walls in shyness as they watched the two share sweet moments without reservation.
"Alright, Ah Zhen, get changed so that we can go check out the warehouse. It looks like the vine plant is an alpha and its pressure has kept zombies away from this place.
Now that the pressure is gone, zombies will probably start invading this place.
Let’s get out of here before they surround us." Uncle Li urged before taking the lead and heading to the break room they had come in through earlier.
Li Yunjia sighed as she watched her son smile happily while walking into one of the offices with his wife to change his clothes.
She wasn’t sighing out of disappointment, but relief. Her son had been in love with Leng Pan for so many years and had suffered the pain of rejection for just as long.
Now that she saw them so happy, she was relieved because even though they were in the apocalypse, her son had found his happiness.
"He is finally happy." Auntie Li seemed to read Li Yunjia’s mind and commented with a smile of her own.
