Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Taming the Vine Plant

To her surprise, the vines there were indeed hurt and split with a red liquid flowing down.

It had a strong smell of blood. Anyone would have thought that someone was heavily injured there.

But what surprised Leng Pan more was the rapid healing of the vine. Moreover, the place Leng Pan had slashed seemed to become thicker instead.

She stopped attacking and looked around. She realized that only the vines she attacked would heal faster and thicken. Thus, she came to a conclusion that the vines could absorb the spiritual spring water and strengthen themselves instead of making them wither.

They weren’t zombie plants, they were simply mutated plants like the demonic plants found in the cultivation world.

Lu Zhen also noticed this phenomenon and an idea sparked in his head.

"Could you melt part of the wall to let me pass, I’ll be back in a while. Just keep attacking it with a cold weapon instead." Lu Zhen said to his wife.

Without asking questions, Leng Pan melted a small part of the wall that could fit one person and had Lu Zhen pass through.

The vine tree seemed to have consciousness because it attempted to pull the three people it was holding through that space but Leng Pan repaired the wall in time.

Luckily, she had used the high humidity and ice surrounding them to make the wall instead of the water she produced herself.

Otherwise, she would have benefitted the plant again.

She didn’t rest and used her Tang sword to keep slashing at the vines and due to her incredible strength, even the thick vines would be injured with every slash. Some of the thinner ones were chopped off and they lay on the ground and withered at a visible speed.

It felt as if as long as the vines left the main plant, they would die.

When she figured this out, Leng Pan moved to a spot beyond where Zaizai was and began hacking.

As she chopped and vines fell, the vine plant attempted to add more but Leng Pan would chop then it would be forced to retreat.

Just with this back and forth, Zaizai was released.

Even though he was exhausted and his blood had been sucked away, he didn’t dare to dillydally there and rushed to sit at a place where the vines couldn’t attack.

Leng Pan then continued to attack the vines in the same way so that she could free the others.

Momo and Ouyang Jin saw what Leng Pan did and followed her method and soon their victims were free as well.

Just as Leng Pan was about to free the second person on her side, the vine plant suddenly let go of them voluntarily and they fell to the cold floor.

This surprised everyone there considering how fiercely the vines had fought and if they had slacked a little, everyone would have been turned into a mummy a long time ago.

"What just happened?" Someone from within the group asked.

After the vines let everyone go, it stopped attacking them and began retracting itself towards the lower floors.

Seeing this, Leng Pan also melted the wall she had made and the vines seemed to have been waiting for that as they all shot down rapidly.

After escaping the disaster, everyone relaxed and started discussing what had just happened.

Luckily, no one died and the people who had been caught by the vine only lost some blood, which could be restored with proper nutrition.

Luckily, the Lu family didn’t have a lack of nutritious food.

Just as they were talking, they heard footsteps coming from the staircase and all turned to look.

It was Lu Zhen coming back with most of his clothes torn and some bloody injuries on his body.

Leng Pan felt as if a knife had been thrust into her heart and ruthlessly cut it to pieces.

This scene reminded her of the image she had created in her mind when she read the novel that had been used as a trigger for her awakening.

In the book, Lu Zhen had died protecting her and was torn to pieces by zombies. When she read the book, she could vividly picture how the most handsome man in the story had turned into a gory mess.

Now that she was Leng Pan in the story, she felt as if she couldn’t breathe when she saw Lu Zhen looking like that. She could not imagine what she would do if he died, especially in such a cruel manner as being torn to pieces.

While others were also shocked, they could see the situation for what it was and we’re aware that Lu Zhen’s injuries weren’t severe.

However, both Leng Pan and Li Yunjia acted as if he was about to die.

Lu Zhen seemed to feel the rolling emotions of his wife and simply told his mother who was worrying that he was fine and only had flesh wounds before taking large strides towards his wife who seemed to have been petrified.

As he looked at Leng Pan trembling, he could already imagine what she had thought of.

Even though she had said that it was their previous life where he had been torn to pieces by zombies while protecting her, he always felt like there was more to it.

Now, it seemed that that incident had become an inner demon for his wife.

Now he was only injured slightly but she seemed to have magnified the injuries to the point of death.

He didn’t care about his bloodied body and hugged Leng Pan tightly, wrapping her entire body into his arms.

At the same time, he comforted her and explained that he wasn’t injured too much and had in fact gained a lot from the fight.

"Baby, don’t look at the surface, most of the blood isn’t mine. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

It was that vine tree bleeding that dirtied my clothes. Don’t be afraid, I am here.

Please calm down, okay? I have a surprise for you. The spoils of war are so great you will love them."
