Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 332: Mutated Vines

The reason Leng Pan and Lu Zhen took the vines so seriously was because they had witnessed a mutated plant swallow live humans before.

In the last apocalypse, mutated plants would wrap up and trap humans either within their trucks or below the ground as if to fertilize their roots.

By the time the people were tossed out, only their bones remained.

That was the reason they were now being so cautious.

They didn’t know the strength of the vines, and the biggest problem was that they hadn’t figured out where the main root was.

Most mutated trees had crystal cores similar to those of zombies and would multiply endlessly if the crystal core wasn’t taken out.

Now that this plant could fill such a large building, it was quite obvious that it wasn’t weak and Leng Pan didn’t want to risk the lives of her teammates.

However, Lu Zhen thought the opposite. This was an opportunity for their team to test everything they had learned over the last period of time and their strength.

"They have been sparring among themselves for a while now. Let them test how far they have improved.

Without a life and death battle, they will never grow.

Potential is mostly stimulated when a human is at the end of their rope. So, even if you see them in danger later, don’t interfere unless they have one breath left.

You saw what happened the last time we were too softhearted, please let’s not repeat the same mistake again." Lu Zhen was practically begging at the end.

The truth was that he was still haunted by Leng Pan’s death in their previous lives where she sacrificed herself to allow the tech-city preserving the last of humanity to leave the earth that was about to explode and into another space.

He was afraid that something like that would happen again if the team is not strong enough to protect the rest of humanity.

He still blamed himself for entering that city when the gates were about to close. Even though it was not voluntary and Leng Pan had pushed him back, it couldn’t erase the fact that he remained safe, while she died with the enemy.

The reason that he was obsessed with strength so much and worked so hard to improve everyday was to prevent something similar from happening.

"Okay then. I hope we don’t lose any members here." Leng Pan sighed lightly before patting her husband’s hand and turning to the others.

"Have any of you noticed anything unique about this place?" Leng Pan asked solemnly as she looked around to see if anyone had noticed the vines.

Luckily, not everyone was hopeless.

Ouyang Jin and a few others replied almost in unison, "Vines."

Others commented, "Mutated plants."

The answers were different, but the gist was similar, most people had noticed the plants, especially the members who had recovered their memories of their past lives.

"We don’t know what kind of plant those vines are, but they could be dangerous, so be careful.

We are going to remove it to prevent it from becoming a danger later on. So everyone...." Before Leng Pan could finish the sentence they heard several screams coming from the back of the group.

Leng Pan, Lu Zhen, Ouyang Jin, Vanish, and even Momo moved almost at the same time and ran towards the sound.

The others also turned around in shock to look only to see some of their teammates being pulled on the ground towards the end of the corridor while others were already hanging from the roof and vines were rapidly wrapping them into a cocoon.

"Everyone be careful." Leng Pan shouted as she sprinted towards the end of the corridor where three of the people were dragged.

Lu Zhen was beside her while Momo was on one side of the corridor attacking the vines that were trying to wrap Janna up.

Ouyang Jin was on the opposite side also attacking the vines.

What they had not expected was for the vines to be so tough. Even the ones the size of a pinky finger took significant effort to scratch them.

Luckily, it seemed as if the plant could feel pain because every time it was hacked, it would retreat and a loud wail could be heard reverberating throughout the building.

They couldn’t even tell where exactly it originated from. Just that it was ear-piercing.

However, nobody dared to stop. The others also came out of the shock and began attacking the vines in different places as if to confuse them.

Leng Pan and Lu Zhen had already arrived at the end of the corridor and were surprised to find that the vines were still pulling the three people they had grabbed down the stairs.

"It’s taking them to the roots." Leng Pan commented as she understood right away what the Vine plant was trying to do.

Right after saying that, she used her water ability to erect a solid wall at the base of the stairs of the lower floor.

This way, the vine tree won’t be able to drag the people through. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

At the same time, she and Lu Zhen also started to attack the vines.

The people who had been grabbed were those at the back and Zaizai was one of them and two new members from the underground lab who had been too shy to walk to the front.

They were screaming nonstop so much it was giving Lu Zhen a headache.

"Can you shut up. Is screaming going to make it let you go faster?" He asked with an irritated voice.

The three people closed their mouths immediately and only tears could be seen falling to the ground.

"It’s sucking our blood." Zaizai mastered the strength to report.

"Hold on for a while, we will have you free in no time." Leng Pan reassured and intensified her attacks.

She injected a lot of spiritual spring water into her water sword and slashed at the vines near Zaizai.
