Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 136: Am I Being Too Easy on You?
"Very well."
Annabelle Linton coldly uttered the two words, her gaze calm as she faced her father. She pushed a contract toward William Chapman. "Sign it. From this moment on, you will have nothing more to do with me or Ryan. I’ll give you one hundred million to live out your days in peace."
William Chapman looked in disbelief at the daughter he had always thought to be weak.
Annabelle Linton’s behavior tonight was astounding. He truly never expected Annabelle to pull a stunt like this.
William Chapman’s voice trembled as he asked, "Annabelle... are you really going to sever ties with your dad? Dad raised you since you were little, have you forgotten that?"
Annabelle Linton looked at him coldly, her voice like ice. "How could I possibly forget?
"My mother died eighteen years ago, but your daughter is nineteen! How could you face my mother? If it weren’t for her, where would you be today?! She loved you so much she married you against my grandfather’s wishes, but what did you do?"
The fact that he owed all his success to a woman was a thorn in William Chapman’s side.
Ordinarily, he would have slapped her without a second thought. But in the face of personal gain, dignity meant nothing.
William Chapman explained with a look of profound grief, "Annabelle, it’s like this.
"Dad had a little too much to drink and made a mistake, and that’s how Joy came along. But what’s done is done, isn’t it? There was nothing Dad could do, right?
"So what did you want Dad to do, abandon her and her mother? You grew up without a mother, so you of all people should know how important a mother is to a child. Do you want Joy to grow up without a father, too? She’s your sister, after all!"
"What sister! She’s nothing but a bastard. I’ve never acknowledged her as my sister, so stop trying to disgust me!"
Joy Chapman, dressed in a pink evening gown, stood beside Yvonne Miller. Her eyes blazed with fury as she glared at Annabelle Linton, but she held her tongue.
"Alright, whatever you say. Now, stop being so willful. Don’t be difficult with Dad anymore. Dad will listen to everything you say, okay?"
William Chapman said this amicably, but a vicious glint flashed in his eyes.
’I can’t act on impulse right now. Annabelle Linton is holding a trump card; I can’t touch her yet.’
’Once some time has passed, I’ll be sure to teach this arrogant little bitch a harsh lesson!’
Suddenly, Annabelle Linton smiled. "You’ll agree to anything I say?"
"Yes..." As William Chapman looked at Annabelle Linton’s smile, a strange sense of unease rose in his heart.
"Alright then." Annabelle Linton pointed at Yvonne Miller. "Divorce her now. Immediately. Right this instant. Kick this homewrecking bitch out, and I won’t sever ties with you. How about it?"
"Annabelle Linton, don’t you go too far!"
Joy Chapman couldn’t hold back any longer. She shot to her feet and lunged at Annabelle Linton. "Who are you calling a bitch? Who are you calling a bastard?! What right do you have to insult us like this? What right do you have to take Dad’s company! I won’t let you bully us like this!"
Without a second thought, Joy Chapman swung a hand at Annabelle Linton’s face.
A sharp glint flashed in Annabelle Linton’s eyes. With a swift movement, she dodged, and Joy Chapman’s lunge hit nothing but air.
Annabelle Linton seized her arm, wrenched it behind her back, and delivered two resounding slaps to her face.
Everyone in the hall saw Annabelle Linton’s swift, ruthless move and gasped in shock.
Annabelle Linton looked at her coldly.
’Don’t be fooled by how impulsive and naive this girl seems.’
’In reality, she and her mother are more vicious than anyone.’
’If it weren’t for them, my grandfather wouldn’t have been angered to death.’
’In my past life, if it weren’t for them, Ryan wouldn’t have been hounded until he had nowhere to call home.’
Annabelle Linton let out a cold sneer. "Where did this bastard come from, daring to run wild in front of me? Did you get cocky because I was being civil?"
