Chapter 1060: Chapter 1060: Unfinished Feelings (10)

Su Wanwan slowly exhaled, suddenly realizing that from the very start, the distance between her and him was so vast.

The Mu Yuze who once indulged in frivolity was merely a disguise, never truly who he was.

But that Mu Yuze still might be encountered on campus, could still be met by chance in the library.

The person he is now is truly out of reach. Even with Uncle Robert’s connections and his care for her, what does that matter? She’s just an orphan, alone and unprotected.

Su Wanwan snapped the laptop shut, her mood suddenly glooming.

She quickly finished her toast, packed her things, and headed out; today, she would continue her sketching in the suburbs.

But the weather wasn’t cooperating. Not long after stepping out, a torrential downpour began. She waited on the roadside for nearly half an hour but couldn’t hail a taxi, so she had to walk back with her easel.

Now, it seems yesterday’s half-finished painting is as good as ruined. She sighed.

Suddenly, a car with no license plates stopped beside her: "Hey, beauty, where are you headed?"

Su Wanwan waved her hand; even unable to find a taxi, she wouldn’t take an unlicensed cab.

"Beauty, if you’re worried, you can take a photo of my license plate and send it to your friend," the driver shouted, clearly aware of her concerns.

Su Wanwan hesitated; she truly didn’t want yesterday’s hard work to be spoiled...

With that thought, she nodded: "Alright, then." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

She went around to the front, noted the license plate number, and then opened the car door to get in.

By now, half her body was almost soaked through. While giving the driver the address, she took out her phone and sent the license plate number to Zhou Miaomiao over WeChat.

"Got it," the driver replied and started the car.

Su Wanwan exhaled deeply, quickly taking out her painting. Thankfully, only the edges were slightly damp. As she carefully stored it away, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that the driver seemed to be sneakily glancing at her through the rear-view mirror.

Su Wanwan’s heart skipped: "By the way, how much should I pay you?"

"Heading to the city library... you can give me fifty," the driver said.

"Alright. I’ll pay you once we arrive." Su Wanwan responded, noting that the driver was taking the correct route, allowing her to relax.

But soon, Su Wanwan felt a tightening in her chest.

Only then did she notice a strange smell in the car; she’d initially thought it was air freshener or the leather seats, but now it seemed not...

She wanted to ask, but her head grew heavy, unable to utter a word.

Not good! Anxiously, Su Wanwan took out her phone, trying with her last bit of clarity to flip through her contacts, but her fingers were weak. She wasn’t even sure if she’d successfully pressed any number...

In a daze, she seemed to hear someone calling her name, the voice clear and substantial, bringing her back to A University’s campus, to the grand auditorium as ancient as A University’s history, beneath the magnolia tree that had stood for countless years.

"Mu Yuze, I want to break up with you!"

"Alright."

...

Those two words had unknowingly become her nightmare, a bloody wound in each recollection.

She thought she wasn’t so affected, but in reality, even now she remains trapped in the mire, sinking deeper and deeper. Perhaps, she’ll never have the chance to crawl out.
