Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 144 - 143 Sneaky Date
Following Si Wen’s request, Xue Yang’s pink Mercedes brought them to a rather unpopular and secluded guesthouse. After Xue Yang parked, he opened the door and invited the two beautiful young women to get out.
Si Wen was already fast asleep, and it took several nudges from Lin Xi before she groggily woke up.
"Are we there?" she asked, looking outside. It was pitch-black, and the air was filled with the pleasant, earthy scent of soil, far removed from the city’s bustle. Her profound fatigue, however, left her in no mood to appreciate the feeling of being so close to nature.
She was the one suffering just because someone else was falling in love. This whole affair wouldn’t end unless they got married.
The three of them arrived at the guesthouse’s front door, and Xue Yang stepped forward to knock.
Soon, the door opened from the inside to reveal a middle-aged man with sleepy eyes. He must have kept late hours often; his dark circles were heavy, and the bags under his eyes sagged nearly to his nose. Seeing the three youths standing at his door, his mind went blank for a second.
Did I wake up so suddenly that I’m seeing gods descending to earth?
Xue Yang smiled. "Sorry to bother you so late, sir."
"Not a bother at all! We’re open for business and always welcome guests. How many rooms would you like?"
Si Wen gestured grandly, producing a black card. "Sir, we’d like to book the entire guesthouse."
"What?"
So it wasn’t gods descending, but the God of Wealth himself? But a moment later, the owner looked troubled. Students were on holiday, so the guesthouse had quite a few guests; at least half the rooms were occupied. How could he possibly clear them out in the middle of the night?
"I’m sorry," the owner said, looking apologetic. "As you can see, it’s very late. I can’t just wake my guests up and kick them out, can I? So... perhaps you could make do with the available rooms, or see if another place can be booked out entirely."
This owner clearly knew how to run a business.
Si Wen started to protest, but Xue Yang stopped her. He turned to the owner and said, "Sir, there’s no need to clear them out now. You can just talk to the guests when they wake up tomorrow morning. We’ll compensate them with triple their accommodation fee."
The owner’s wrinkled face immediately blossomed into a smile. "Excellent! Please, follow me."
He led them to a suite with the best and most tranquil atmosphere. "Please, make yourselves at home. If you need anything, just ring the bell. We’re at your service twenty-four hours a day." After speaking, he thoughtfully closed the door and departed.
Young people these days are really something else, bringing two celestial beauties for a stay. I’ve been running this guesthouse for years, and this is the first time I’ve seen anything like it.
"Xue Yang, you’re sleeping alone tonight," Si Wen declared, giving him no chance to respond. She grabbed Lin Xi’s arm and began to pull her away. "Lin Xi, let’s go. Time for bed."
To her surprise, Lin Xi didn’t resist at all. "Okay," she said.
Xue Yang watched them open their door, step inside, and close it behind them. Numbly, he went to the room opposite theirs, closed the door, and leaned against it.
He didn’t dare close his eyes. He couldn’t shake the feeling that everything that had happened tonight was a dream. He was terrified that if he woke up, he would find himself back on the cold sofa of his rented apartment, completely alone. The loneliness was unbearable.
Just then, a faint sound came from outside.
It was the sound of a doorknob turning. Xue Yang froze. He pulled away from the door as he turned, his hand landing on the knob. His thoughts drifted, but his heart pounded furiously. The sound stopped, as if he had only imagined it. A wave of disappointment washed over him. His hand fell from the doorknob, and he bowed his head slightly, letting the darkness consume him.
Then, the door slowly creaked open.
A figure in pale pink appeared in the doorway. Their eyes locked in a glance that seemed to span an eternity. Xue Yang stared at her, unable to believe what he was seeing.
"It’s too cold outside," she said softly. "A branch of red apricot wishes to come in for warmth. Will you take it in?"
"I will."
"Would you take in any red apricot?"
"No. I’ll only take this red apricot."
Lin Xi smiled, a light seeming to shine from her eyes, reflecting Xue Yang’s tall, upright figure.
Xue Yang opened the door wider to let her in. The moment she stepped inside, the door slammed shut. Lin Xi felt a shadow loom over her, and an instant later, her back was pressed against the wood. Her wrists were seized and raised high above her head, as if she were pinned to it. The position pushed her chest forward. Before she could react, a familiar scent enveloped her, and her full lips were claimed.
She was like a doll pinned against the door, left to his whims.
At first, Xue Yang was composed. But gradually, he began to get a taste for it. Or perhaps, it was the final confirmation that the person he had yearned for day and night had truly returned. In that instant, all his composure and calm disintegrated into nothing.
Lin Xi wanted to hug him, but her hands were restrained. Her eyes shimmered; for the first time, she didn’t want to close them. She only wanted to look at him.
"Xue Yang, I’ve missed you so much."
"Lin Xi, I love you."
"..."
In that moment, she thought, whatever Xue Yang wanted, she would give it to him.
Outside, the wind was piercingly cold. Inside, it was as warm as spring.
Lin Xi felt like a piece of duckweed, simply adrift with the current.
The morning star twinkled brightly in the sky, a small, inconspicuous star keeping it silent company. In the east, the first light of dawn began to swell, meeting the golden sunrise and gilding the earth in its glow.
The two of them had kissed their way from the door to the sofa. Finally, weary from kissing, they snuggled up on the balcony to welcome the new day.
Xue Yang playfully twined a lock of Lin Xi’s hair around his fingertips, letting it slip free only to catch it and wind it up again, over and over, thoroughly enjoying himself.
"I thought I was dreaming," he murmured.
"And now?"
"I’m still not sure."
Lin Xi’s heart ached. How many times must he have fantasized about this moment, only to be disappointed? He was so uncertain that even with her right beside him, he couldn’t believe it was real.
"Xue Yang~"
"Hmm~"
"Why don’t we have a child? That way, we won’t have to be apart anymore."
Xue Yang jolted, and his hand, which had been playing with her hair, froze. "Lin Xi, do you... know what you’re saying?"
"Don’t you like children?"
"Of course, I do."
"Then why won’t you agree?"
"Having a child isn’t so simple. Do you want our child to be born without a rightful status?"
Lin Xi pouted. With her lips already swollen, they looked even more like bright red cherries.
