Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 145 - 144 Lin Xi: Am I really that small?
Lin Xi leaned on Xue Yang’s shoulder. "But I only have a three-day break. In three days, I have to go back to school."
Having just been reunited, they were about to be separated again. Lin Xi felt like crying.
Xue Yang wrapped an arm around her slender waist, pulling her closer into his embrace. He rested his chin on her head, inhaling the pleasant scent of her hair. "Being together isn’t so simple; there are many things to consider," he said softly. "Silly girl, you’re still young. Don’t overthink it for now."
Lin Xi’s cheeks puffed out in annoyance. She glanced down at her own chest. Xue Yang is always saying I’m still small, but in what way am I small?
"Sleep for a while."
"Then you sleep with me."
Xue Yang hadn’t slept all night either, and Lin Xi’s heart ached seeing the dark circles gradually forming under his eyes. Even if she wasn’t tired herself, she wanted him to get some rest.
"Okay."
Xue Yang stood up and effortlessly lifted Lin Xi into his arms.
Lin Xi’s hands rested naturally on his shoulders. The moment they turned, the golden morning sun seemed to finally break through the clouds, casting brilliant rays that pierced the sky and spilled across the earth. The light shone through the window, bathing his broad back. Against the light, he looked as if he were wreathed in the Rainbow Cloud.
Lin Xi’s heart skipped a few beats. Her hands tightened unconsciously, pulling herself closer to his chest so she could more clearly feel its strong, steady rhythm.
Outside, the sky was already bright, but the two lovers had only just lain down to sleep.
When Si Wen woke up, Lin Xi was gone. She touched the empty spot beside her; it was cold. I knew she wouldn’t have just obediently slept beside me. It was inevitable she’d sneak out to him. I just hadn’t expected it to be so soon.
Si Wen sat in bed for a while before throwing off the covers. After washing up, she remembered that in her haste the day before, she had forgotten to bring a change of clothes. She put on her jacket, wrapping herself up tightly, and went to find the innkeeper.
The innkeeper was efficient. After the guests had woken up, he explained the situation and directed them to a nearby inn with an offer for a twenty-percent discount. In addition, he compensated them with triple their original lodging fee. Although the guests looked a bit displeased on the surface, they were inwardly ecstatic.
Getting paid to stay at an inn? We must have run into a god of wealth!
They were curious, however, about which god of wealth had descended upon them, eager to catch a glimpse. Some of the more inquisitive guests tried to wheedle information out of the innkeeper, but he only gave them a meaningful expression in response.
Completely baffled, they all noticed the pink Mercedes parked by the entrance as they were leaving. A car like that was clearly a custom build. Its price was unthinkable, and it was a limited edition that couldn’t be bought with money alone. And its color was pink.
It seems some rich young lady is here to experience a simpler life. I really want to see what she looks like.
"Excuse me, could you help us buy a few sets of clothes?" a pleasant female voice reached their ears. "We left in such a hurry we forgot to bring a change of clothes."
Many heads turned toward the front desk, only to see an attractive back. Of course, even just from that view, one could imagine how stunning the woman herself must be.
More guests came out with their luggage, and they were all visibly stunned by the sight of Si Wen. Some even forgot they were there to check out.
The innkeeper took Si Wen’s black card. "Of course. What kind of clothes would you like?"
"Take this card to the Xiang Naier boutique; they’ll know what to do. I’ll send them the sizes we need."
"Right away, ma’am."
With that, Si Wen went back inside.
It wasn’t until her figure disappeared around the corner that the others snapped back to their senses.
"Sir, was that a fairy?"
"That was just one of them," the innkeeper said. "There’s another one who is a true, peerless beauty. A pity you won’t get to see her."
He recalled opening the door last night and being stunned by the sudden appearance of Lin Xi. He couldn’t help but marvel that such a beautiful girl could exist in this world. If it weren’t for their shadows and the white mist they exhaled when they spoke, he might have truly believed he had met fairies.
"Sir..." one man began, intending to pry for more information.
The innkeeper, however, maintained his professional discretion. Besides, a limited-edition, custom-built Mercedes was parked right outside. Their background was clearly powerful. He ran a large inn in a prime location like Yancheng—of course he had some discernment.
"Don’t get any ideas," he warned. "The most beautiful girl came with her boyfriend."
So she already has a boyfriend.
A look of disappointment crossed the man’s face. The others, seeing this, resumed lining up to check out. Before long, only Xue Yang’s party of three remained in the inn.
The innkeeper grabbed his car keys and headed out, planning to go to the Xiang Naier boutique to pick up the clothes for Si Wen.
Just as he stepped outside, he saw a Rolls-Royce slowly pull to a stop. The innkeeper froze on the spot. What kind of day is this? Why is every car that shows up more luxurious than the last?!
The driver’s door opened, and a tall, imposing bodyguard got out. He stood before the innkeeper, his sheer presence overwhelming.
"H-hello! May I help you with something?"
The bodyguard scrutinized him for a moment, his gaze sweeping over the surroundings.
The innkeeper stammered, "I’m really s-sorry, but our inn is closed to the public today. It’s been fully booked."
Only then did the bodyguard withdraw his gaze. "Sir, we hope you will keep the stay of these three guests confidential."
The innkeeper paused for a second before understanding dawned. His courage returning, he said, "You can rest assured. I will absolutely not leak any guest information."
"Good. Thank you, sir."
The bodyguard returned to the Rolls-Royce, opened the door, and got in. He started the engine, made a U-turn, and drove away.
The entire exchange lasted no more than five minutes. If it weren’t for the receding taillights, the innkeeper would have thought he had imagined the whole thing.
When the innkeeper returned with the clothes, Lin Xi had just woken up. The first thing she did was check that Xue Yang was still beside her.
Seeing him fast asleep, Lin Xi gently leaned over and traced the lines of his handsome face with her finger, as if trying to engrave his image deep into her mind.
Perhaps sensing her touch, Xue Yang’s eyelashes fluttered. Startled, Lin Xi quickly pulled her hand back.
Worried she might wake him by staying beside him, Lin Xi tiptoed out of bed, gently opened the door, and slipped out.
Si Wen was just coming in with the bags of clothes. Seeing Lin Xi, she snorted coldly, turned her head away, and set the bags down on the sofa.
"I had the innkeeper buy us a change of clothes," she said without looking at her. "See if Xue Yang’s size fits. I just guessed."
