Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 134 - 133: So Close, Yet So Far
The café’s glass wall was specially treated; one could see outside clearly from within, but it was impossible to see inside from the outside. Therefore, Lin Xi and Si Wen could see Xue Yang, but he could not see them.
He stood in the snow holding a cup of coffee, the swirling flurries becoming his backdrop. It made him look like a banished celestial descended to the mortal realm—a truly captivating sight. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Xue Yang, we’re shooting these series today," Jennifer said, walking over with a tablet. He began to introduce the day’s work and explained how to pose for the best effect, helping Xue Yang get into the right mindset.
Xue Yang leaned in close to Jennifer, listening intently.
"Tsk, tsk. They say a man is most handsome when he’s focused. It seems the rumors are true," Si Wen murmured.
Lin Xi, who had been watching Xue Yang intently, frowned at Si Wen’s comment and turned to her. "Si Wen, you’re not allowed to look at him anymore."
"I won’t, I won’t," Si Wen replied, pulling her gaze away. She returned to her seat, took out a set of college entrance exam papers, and began working on them earnestly.
Outside, Xue Yang took some clothes into a nearby changing room and soon reemerged. Dressed in the trendy brand’s new spring collection, he was brimming with vitality. Jennifer was right; the clothes suited him perfectly, as if they were tailor-made for him. No one else could have pulled off the same look.
With everything ready, Xue Yang stood at the designated camera position and struck various poses at the photographer’s direction.
He was working seriously, and she was watching him seriously.
Occasionally, their gazes would meet in the empty space between them, but he remained completely unaware. It was as if an insurmountable celestial river stretched between them, rendering any effort futile.
After just one set, Lin Xi saw that Xue Yang’s lips had turned purplish-blue from the cold. Her heart ached for him. She recalled the first time Xue Yang had returned from a photo shoot, his body frighteningly cold. When she had asked him about it, he just said it was nothing. She realized now that day must have been just like this one—shooting for hours in thin clothes out in the ice and snow.
So this is how hard he works for every photo shoot. Lin Xi felt tears welling up.
"Si Wen, does he have to shoot in this freezing wind? Can’t you find a warmer place?"
"The photography team usually shoots on location for authentic results," Si Wen explained.
"Then heat the location properly."
"My dear lady, are you serious?"
"Do I look like I’m joking?"
"..."
Si Wen said no more. She took out her phone and made a call to Jennifer.
Jennifer, who was overseeing the photo shoot, took the call and immediately left the set for the adjacent café. He made his way to their private room.
"Miss Si Wen, what are your instructions? And this is..."
Upon seeing Lin Xi standing nearby, Jennifer’s eyes lit up. Is this an Elf descended to earth? She’s breathtaking!
Looking closer, his jaw dropped in surprise. "Aren’t you... aren’t you the girl who was in that photo shoot with Xue Yang? Right, you’re Xue Yang’s girlfriend! I even asked him if you’d be willing to model for our brand and shoot a couple’s collection with him. I can’t believe I’m meeting you here today. Miss, would you be willing to help us with a set of photos?"
At that moment, Si Wen set down her pen, rested her chin on her laced fingers, and said to him, "Jennifer, allow me to introduce you. This is my best friend, Lin Xi."
"Miss Lin Xi, a pleasure! Would you be interested in helping us with a couple’s photo shoot... wait a second... Lin Xi!"
Jennifer instinctively jumped back two steps, his eyes wide with shock.
"That’s right," Si Wen said coolly. "She’s the Lin Xi you’re thinking of."
"..."
"So, do you think our company can afford to hire her as a model?"
Who in the world could afford to hire the heiress of the Lin Corporation as a model? If a hole opened up in the ground right now, I’d jump in without a second thought. What on earth did I just do?
"Miss... Miss Lin Xi, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean anything by it; it wasn’t intentional. Please, forgive me."
In that moment, the usually eloquent Jennifer was suddenly tongue-tied. I was just so excited that I completely forgot. A young woman who socializes with the big boss... how could she possibly have a low status?
"It’s alright," Lin Xi said gently. "To be honest, I’d love to model for you, but as you know, I can’t."
"It’s alright... no, I mean, I’m not worthy..." I should just bite my tongue off, Jennifer thought, mortified.
"Jennifer, find a way to raise the temperature on set to a comfortable level," Si Wen ordered.
"Miss Si Wen, if we do that, the costs will likely go up."
"Cost isn’t an issue. Just get it done."
I’m overthinking this. Is Miss Si Wen the kind of person who worries about money? Of course not.
"Yes, Miss Si Wen."
Jennifer left the private room. A question now lingered in his mind: was Xue Yang involved with Miss Si Wen, or with Miss Lin Xi? Surely he couldn’t be involved with both of them, right? At that thought, ’shocked’ was no longer a strong enough word to describe how he felt. This guy is on another level! To have won over the two most powerful and wealthy young women in all of Dragon Country at the same time...
Jennifer quickly made a phone call, then returned to the set, picked up a bullhorn, and shouted, "Pause the shoot!"
All the staff on set froze, then watched as Jennifer personally draped a coat over Xue Yang’s shoulders.
"Go warm up in the heated room. We’ll continue shooting later." With that, he pushed Xue Yang into the adjacent heated room.
Xue Yang was utterly confused. After shooting in the freezing snow for so long, his body was so stiff that even speaking was difficult. "Jennifer, what’s wrong?"
"Well, the weather is just too cold. I’ve already called for a large space heater; it’s on its way and should arrive in about half an hour. We’ll resume shooting once it gets here."
After recovering for a while in the warmth, Xue Yang started to feel the sensation return to his limbs. He held a cup of hot coffee, steam wafting from it. "Jennifer, it’s fine. You don’t have to go to all this trouble. We shouldn’t delay the shoot."
"The weather is too cold. My main concern is your health. If you get sick, *that* would truly delay the shoot." In the big boss’s eyes, the schedule is nothing compared to your health.
Jennifer watched Xue Yang. The longer he looked, the more handsome he found the young man. He wasn’t a woman, but even he felt a little captivated. Some people are just born blessed.
Xue Yang frowned slightly, feeling that the way Jennifer was looking at him was a bit strange.
