Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 104 - 103: Aren’t you her best friend? Why would you like me?
"Your bestie doesn’t seem very happy."
Just when Si Wen thought they had finally developed a conscience, she heard Lin Xi say, "It’s fine. She’s just like that. She’ll get over it in a bit. Xue Yang, you’re on vacation, right?"
"Oh, yeah. I am. I can spend the next few days with you."
"That’s great! I’ve been waiting for you to get a break."
Si Wen was speechless. It’s been more than three months, and apparently, I’m just here to be slighted today, right? She crossed her arms, the words "I’m furious" practically etched onto her face.
The Rolls-Royce slowed to a stop in front of a very upscale Western restaurant in Yancheng. Logically, at this time of night, everywhere except the food stalls should have been closed. With Si Wen’s status, she naturally wouldn’t go to a food stall, yet a single phone call from her was enough to make the restaurant’s head chef rush over from home to cook for them. It was a clear display of just how wealthy her family was.
The restaurant was on the 79th floor, the highest in the building, with decor so luxurious it defied Xue Yang’s imagination. He didn’t say much, though. Instead, he quietly held Lin Xi’s hand and walked in with them.
The restaurant owner greeted them personally and led them to the best table, which offered a view of half of Yancheng. Si Wen waved the owner away, leaving just the three of them—Xue Yang, Lin Xi, and herself—in the room.
Xue Yang and Lin Xi sat together, with Si Wen seated across from them. After a moment, Xue Yang got up to go to the restroom.
The instant he left, Lin Xi immediately said to Si Wen, "Don’t give Xue Yang a hard time."
Si Wen crossed her arms and her legs. "I’m not giving him a hard time. I just want to know how sincere his feelings for you are."
"He doesn’t know my family’s real status yet. Don’t scare him."
Si Wen raised an eyebrow as a playful idea seemed to occur to her. "Is that so?"
Lin Xi fell silent.
"Don’t be so tense. We’re best friends. It’s only right for us to help test each other’s boyfriends. If I get a boyfriend someday, you can do the same for me."
"I’m not that bored."
Lin Xi’s response left Si Wen speechless.
Before long, Xue Yang returned. The dishes began to arrive one after another. High-end restaurants were truly different; every dish was like a meticulously crafted work of art, making one hesitant to eat it.
Honestly, Xue Yang had no idea where to begin.
Lin Xi, however, acted perfectly natural. "Xue Yang, this is Wagyu beef that was flown in fresh tonight. It’s quite good. Let me cut it for you."
Her movements were exceptionally graceful, like watching one piece of art interact with another. It was a beautiful sight.
He knew she was helping him out of an awkward spot. That sweet girl was always like this, constantly thinking of him.
Si Wen’s grip on her knife and fork tightened. Can’t she see that I’m trying to help *her*?
"There’s also this," Lin Xi continued, pointing to something that looked like cherries. "It’s the chef’s signature dish—foie gras. It’s fantastic with the bread they serve here. You should try it."
Lin Xi used her fork to spear a piece of foie gras and bread, lifting it to Xue Yang’s mouth.
Xue Yang ate it in one bite. "Mmm, that’s delicious. It’s all thanks to your best friend tonight. Otherwise, I’d never get to eat something this good."
"Do you like it?" Lin Xi asked.
"I do," Xue Yang replied.
"That’s good."
Feeling ignored, Si Wen spoke up, "Would you like some red wine? Steak and red wine are a perfect match."
"No, thank you. I don’t drink."
"A man who doesn’t drink will be at a disadvantage in the future, you know."
"Is there a rule that says men have to drink?"
"Well, no." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Then I don’t drink."
Si Wen had no reply.
After the meal, Lin Xi went to the restroom, leaving Xue Yang and Si Wen alone. Si Wen placed her hands on the table, lacing her fingers together and resting her chin on them, her beautiful eyes sparkling. "Xue Yang, care to guess how much this meal cost?"
"I have no idea," Xue Yang answered honestly.
"Two hundred thousand," Si Wen said, holding up two fingers.
Xue Yang was stunned. He’d thought the meal would be twenty or thirty thousand at most. Even if it was expensive, it couldn’t possibly be two hundred thousand. Twenty or thirty thousand was within his means; he could even pay off one hundred thousand in a few months with installments. But now, Si Wen was telling him this one meal cost two hundred thousand. Spending two hundred thousand on a single meal wasn’t just extravagant—it was beyond that. He was already wondering how he would ever repay the cost of tonight’s meal.
Si Wen continued, "This hotel is one of my family’s businesses. Besides this hotel, my family owns many other properties in Yancheng. So, yes, I’m much, much wealthier than Lin Xi. In Yancheng, her family is just a little better off than the average person."
"What are you trying to say?" Xue Yang asked.
"I’m saying that if you get together with me, I can arrange a position for you in any of our family’s companies after you graduate. You could even be the chairman of one. That way, you could skip at least twenty years of struggle. And of course, twenty years is a conservative estimate. If you successfully marry me, half of Yancheng will be yours."
Xue Yang frowned slightly. "Aren’t you and Lin Xi best friends?"
"We are."
"Then why are you trying to make a move on her boyfriend?"
"Because I like you."
"You like me? We just met."
"Xue Yang, you have to understand that sometimes, you don’t need a reason to fall in love," Si Wen said. "A single glance is all it takes to know you’ve found the person you’ve been looking for your whole life. And that’s exactly how I felt the moment I saw you."
As she spoke, she stood up and walked over to Xue Yang’s side.
Just then, Lin Xi returned from the restroom. Seeing the scene before her, she froze, wanting to see how Xue Yang would react.
Although Si Wen wasn’t as gorgeous as Lin Xi, she had a much younger, more delicate appearance, like a living Barbie doll—captivating and alluring. She could fulfill any perverse fantasy a man might have about a high school girl. Being with her could indulge the twisted desire of men who, regardless of their own age, are only attracted to eighteen-year-olds.
Given the situation and the incredible offer she had just made, any man would be tempted.
"If you feel bad about betraying Lin Xi, don’t worry," Si Wen whispered conspiratorially. "We can keep our relationship a secret. You can break up with her whenever you feel ready. It’s no
