"You are too presumptuous, Edmund Gerwyn! Have you forgotten who I am? I stand here as the Crown Prince, not as your friend!"

Penelope gulped and unconsciously tightened her arms around Edmund’s waist. The woman looked up at Edmund’s handsome face, who was still looking straight at Sebastian. Even though Sebastian had shown his anger toward Edmund, even though Sebastian’s shadow knight was ready to receive an order from Sebastian to kill Edmund, Edmund still looked calm and could still grin at the Crown Prince.

"As I’ve said before, His Highness the Crown Prince, I don’t care about your royal status. If it’s for the sake of the people I love, I’ll do whatever it takes to protect them." Edmund laughed and snapped his fingers. "Hey, Your Highness... May I report today’s incident to His Highness the Emperor? I believe, His Highness the Emperor would be very embarrassed to hear that this imperial Crown Prince intends to seduce my woman and wants to make her his, right?"

"You?!" growled Sebastian. "I will teach you a lesson for challenging me, Edmund Gerwyn!"

"Go ahead. I am not afraid." Edmund bent down and immediately picked up Penelope into his arms. The woman also immediately wrapped her hands around Edmund’s neck. She rested her head on Edmund’s chest. Her body was very tired now. Being in Edmund’s arms could make her release all the weight on her shoulders. "If there’s nothing you want to talk about anymore, I have to go now. My Penny needs some time to rest. Chris, call Evan. Tell him that our honored guest has finished visiting and will be back at the palace right now." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Edmund came out of his study with Penelope. He even ran when he was outside so he could immediately lay her on the bed. Meanwhile, Sebastian growled and threw the bouquet he had brought for Penelope onto the floor. The beautiful flowers are now scattered on the carpet. Sebastian tried to control his breathing which was panting due to the anger inside him.

"I’m not going to let you get away with it, Edmund Gerwyn! I will make you regret it!"

Meanwhile, inside the guest room used by Penelope, Edmund laid the woman’s weak body very carefully onto the bed. Sarah immediately left the room to leave her Lady with the Duke. Edmund sat on a chair by the bed and held Penelope’s hand tightly. He smiled. Then, the man touched Penelope’s forehead and took a deep breath. His anxiety is growing.

"You still have a very high fever, Honey," said Edmund in a worried tone. "Your face has also become red from this fever. And, instead of resting in the room, you caught up with me and argued with that man. I’m sure you’re getting sicker because you have to meet that man."

Penelope chuckled and she placed Edmund’s palm against her cheek. "I like your touch. Your hands are so cold, it makes me feel fresh again. Then, about earlier, I caught up with you because I missed you. I don’t want to be alone here when I’m sick. I also couldn’t just sit idly by when I heard from His Highness Helios that Sebastian De Louis was talking nonsense to you."

Edmund frowned. "His Highness Helios is here?"

Penelope nodded. "He said he followed Sebastian because he heard information that I was sick. Then, all of a sudden, he had to leave because he had business to attend to."

’He infiltrated, not followed Sebastian,’ said Edmund in his heart. The man clicked his tongue angrily. ’I have to increase the security in this mansion.’

"Ed?" called Penelope. "What are you thinking about?"

"Hmm?" Edmund smiled and kissed Penelope on the forehead. "Nothing. I was just thinking of what to do so you can get well soon and healthy again, Honey. I can’t watch you suffer like this."

Penelope was touched by Edmund’s words just now. If this was her old self when she first came to this world and possessed Penelope Askary’s body, perhaps Penelope would not have thought that she would love Edmund Gerwyn like this. The woman then shifted her body and patted the part beside her.

"Ed, lie down here with me."

Edmund blinked and the next second he was laughing. The man climbed into bed and lay beside Penelope. Then, Edmund hugged Penelope, who happily rested her body on Edmund’s athletic chest. She closed her eyes and let Edmund rub her back gently.

"I’m tired, Ed," Penelope whispered. "Let me rest in your arms."

"Sure," nodded Edmund. "You can do whatever you want, Honey. I will always be by your side to protect you."

Edmund closed his eyes and enjoyed the wind coming in through Penelope’s bedroom window. The couple fell asleep and forgot all the unpleasant events that had just happened in Edmund’s study.

"His Highness the Crown Prince is not in the palace, Lady Isabella."

That sentence made Isabella force a smile and nod. She couldn’t possibly be waiting for Sebastian in the palace. But, that woman also didn’t want to go back to her mansion. She didn’t want to meet her Father if possible. But, where should she go?

"I’ve taken you to the palace," said Ethan Askary. The man turned around and started walking. "Then, I will go now."

Seeing that Ethan had stepped forward, Isabella widened her eyes. The woman panicked and immediately ran after Ethan. Then, Isabella stood in front of Ethan and spread her arms out. In his place, Ethan raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.

"What are you doing right now, Isabella Lysander?" asked Ethan coldly. "I have saved you and I have also complied with your wishes. Now, what else do you want from me?"

Isabella looked away and fiddled with her ten fingers. "I am hungry."

"If you are hungry, all you have to do is return to your mansion and ask your servants to make you some food. Why are you even telling me? Do you think of me as a chef? Sorry to disappoint you but I am the son of a Duke. I can’t cook either."

"I mean..." Isabella swallowed hard and looked down. Her face heated up quickly and started to blush. "Could you accompany me to eat? I don’t want to go home and you know it. I... don’t want to eat alone."

Ethan sighed heavily and clicked his tongue. Why did he have to deal with this woman? If Penelope finds out, his little sister will be furious and will never speak to him again! After all, why would he accompany a woman, who had insulted his little sister?

"Sorry, but I—"

"I will wait for you to finish your work," Isabella said. The woman looked up to meet Ethan’s eyes. "Please, Ethan Askary. I will make this a debt and I will repay it one day. So, if you ask me anything, I will grant it to you."

Ethan opened his mouth, ready to reply to Isabella’s words. However, the man closed his mouth again and seemed to be thinking. Isabella’s offer wasn’t bad either. He could ask her for something one day that would benefit him and Penelope.

"Fine," nodded Ethan. He raised one eyebrow when he saw Isabella’s face look happy. Is eating together a very happy thing? Shouldn’t that woman always eat together with the Crown Prince? "But, I have to finish my work first like I told you."

Isabella nodded repeatedly. "It’s okay, I’ll be waiting for you!"

Isabella followed Ethan like a puppy following its master. The woman stared at Ethan’s back and smiled.

Why did she feel so happy?

Philleo Aaron climbed a tree and jumped onto the terrace of a room on the second floor.

The man entered through the window and smiled when he saw Penelope Askary. According to Sarah, when the woman returned to the Askary mansion to take Penelope’s clothes with her, the woman had a fever and stayed in a room on the second floor of Duke Edmund’s mansion. That’s why Philleo was able to find out where Penelope’s room was. Philleo sneaked in to meet Penelope for two reasons. First, Edmund Gerwyn would definitely not allow him to meet Penelope and second, it was already late at night.

"Why did you leave the window open My beloved Penelope?" whispered Philleo. He knelt beside the sleeping Penelope and caressed her cheek. "You have a fever and the night breeze is not good for you. Did that bastard Duke not take proper care of you in this mansion? Why did he leave you alone in this lonely room? If you are with me, I will never leave you even for one second, Honey."

Penelope muttered and stirred in her sleep. The woman smiled and held Philleo’s hand. Of course, Penelope had no idea whose hand she was holding. In her dream, she was walking with Edmund and holding the Duke’s hand. This action clearly made Philleo smile happily. His eyes darted with a longing gaze at Penelope.

"My Penelope... For now, I will let you together with Edmund Gerwyn. But, believe me, that I will pick you up soon, Honey. I will not let you suffer for being by Edmund Gerwyn’s side. We will soon become a couple and get married. Be patient, My Penelope. I know you love me and I love you too."

Philleo brought his face closer to Penelope’s. He kissed Penelope on the forehead, then down to her nose. Then, Philleo’s lips landed on Penelope’s cheeks. The woman was still asleep and not bothered at all. Then, Philleo stared at Penelope’s very seductive red lips. The man’s heart was pounding, making him afraid that its voice would be heard by Penelope and disturb her sleep. He caressed Penelope’s soft cheek gently and rubbed her red lips with his thumb.

"Have a nice dream, My beloved Penelope," whispered Philleo. Then, the man brought his lips to Penelope’s red lips. Just as Philleo’s lips were about to touch Penelope’s, something touched his neck. Something cold and sharp. Philleo raised his hands in the air when he realized that the thing touching his neck was a sword. He stood up slowly and turned his body around.

"Sir Philleo?" Chris frowned and lowered his sword. "What did you do to Princess Penelope? No, what are you even doing here? Why did you come to this mansion sneakily?"

Philleo smiled and lowered his hands. "I just wanted to check on My Lady’s condition because I heard from Sarah that My Lady has a fever. I was sure I would not be allowed in by Duke Edmund so I sneaked into My Lady’s room."

"Then, what did you do to her earlier?"

"I saw something moving near the pillow My Lady was wearing so I looked down to check," Philleo replied. "However, it seems I just saw it wrongly."

Chris was silent. He glanced at Penelope, who was still fast asleep.

Why did Chris get the impression that Philleo Aaron was trying to kiss Penelope Askary?
