Chapter 180: #180-The Death Of The Crown Prince, The Awaken Of The Dark Gabriel Brown

The battle between Penelope Askary and Sebastian De Louis is getting heated.

The woman didn’t care if the Emperor was in this room and saw her attack the Crown Prince many times. Sometimes, Penelope would also be thrown against the wall and injured. The woman had repeatedly vomited blood but she didn’t care. Meanwhile, Ethan Askary and Chris managed to move Edmund Gerwyn to a safe place, alongside the injured Philleo Aaron and Claude Sylvester.

"Your Majesty," called one of the imperial knights brought by Emperor De Louis. "Are you just going to let Duchess Penelope attack the Crown Prince? He is the only Crown Prince in this empire, Your Majesty! What the Duchess did was absolutely not allowed in this empire. She should get the death penalty for daring to attack and wanting to harm members of the imperial family."

Emperor De Louis clenched his fists and clenched his jaw. He looked at Sebastian De Louis with a flat and empty gaze.

"Do you still think of that man as the Crown Prince of this empire? Do you still consider that man to be my son?!" Emperor De Louis growled. "Don’t you see the change that’s happened to him? How could he suddenly disappear from the imperial prison and the two guards there were estimated to melt. That man has work together with the forces of darkness! He was already controlled by whoever brought destruction to this empire, which made that dark sky suddenly appear in this empire!"

"But—"

"I have allowed the Duchess to do whatever she wants," said the Emperor again. "I will accept whatever the outcome is. That man had been making a fuss for too long. That man had bothered Duke Edmund and his family for too long. Do you think I don’t know what my son did to Duchess Penelope and Isabella Lysander? I know it all and I close my eyes. I didn’t give him a strict punishment. Because of that, he continued to make a fuss. If the Crown Prince must die because of the Duchess, I will not punish her. Maybe that was Sebastian De Louis’ destiny. If he has a strong heart, he will not be easily affected by whatever is controlling his mind and heart at the moment."

Returning to the fight, Penelope Askary creates a holy sword from her holy power. She attacks Sebastian and Sebastian immediately blocks Penelope’s holy sword with his sword of darkness. The sound of two swords clashing made Ethan look at Penelope with a worried look.

"Prince Ethan," Chris called. "Did... Duke Edmund really—"

"No!" Ethan shook his head firmly. He glared at Chris. Tears were still visible on his handsome face. "I would never have considered him dead. Edmund Gerwyn was not that weak of a man. He just passed out. He’ll definitely wake up again. He is fine!"

Chris wanted to believe those words but... there had never been a single person who survived when his heart was pierced by a sword. Even if the weapon was just a small weapon like a knife, death would still be inevitable. The heart is the most vital organ in the body and is very important for a human. It is the source of life for a human being.

"Prince Ethan—"

"He won’t die!" shouted Penelope Askary. The woman, who could hear the conversation between Ethan and Chris, opened her palms towards Edmund. A pink circle appeared and trapped Edmund in it. "I’ll make sure that man opens both of his eyes again!"

Sebastian laughed. "Are you sure you can make him live again, oh, Saintess?" Sebastian challenged. The man swung his sword and the wind with black light appeared, then threw Penelope’s tiny body against the wall. The woman was wide-eyed, coughed, and vomited blood. Even though it felt difficult to stand up again, Penelope tried hard to stay standing. "My sword is a sword of darkness given directly by Goddess Oizys. The moment I pierced his heart with this blade of darkness, Edmund Gerwyn’s life was over! He would go straight to hell! You’d better forget him and be mine, Penelope Askary. I still keep the Empress’ chair for you, darling."

"Disgusting!" Penelope shouted. She snapped her fingers and several pink arrows appeared near her. Then, the arrows shot towards Sebastian and Sebastian deflected each arrow using his sword of darkness. "I would rather die than be yours, Sebastian De Louis!"

"You are so adorable, Penelope Askary! You turn me on so much and make me want you even more!" Sebastian De Louis ran towards Penelope Askary at high speed. He laughed like someone who had lost his mind. The man swung his sword at Penelope, preparing to attack the Duchess but suddenly his movements stopped. His eyes widened and he spat out blood from his mouth.

"Huh...?"

Sebastian De Louis let go of the sword in his hand. His body trembled. The man lowered his head and stared in disbelief at the sword that had penetrated his left chest. Sebastian vomited blood again, then looked at Penelope. He walked slowly towards Penelope, intending to hug Penelope so that the sword that penetrated his left chest could pierce Penelope’s chest too. If he dies, then Penelope must also die with him. If he couldn’t have Penelope, then no man could have that woman.

"Did you think I would let you stab my woman with that sword?"

The question in a choked tone made Penelope and Sebastian turn their heads around. Sebastian froze and Penelope was now crying again. But this time, she cried while smiling. She was sure that Edmund Gerwyn would not die that easily. She believed that, with the power of the Goddess, she could save Edmund and everyone. If this power couldn’t save everyone, why would she have it?

"You...."

"Do you think you can kill me that easily, Sebastian De Louis...?" asked Edmund. The man grinned. His handsome face looked pale and sweaty. "I’m persistent, Sebastian. I couldn’t just leave my wife and children."

Sebastian growled and it made him vomit blood again. Then, the man fell to his knees. He laughed. He looked at Penelope with his usual adoring gaze.

"Even though you love me, Penelope Askary...," said the Crown Prince in a choked tone. "But, why did you leave me...? Why did you choose Edmund Gerwyn over me...?"

"I do love you," answered Penelope Askary. "But that was before. That was in the past. My love for now, for the future, and for eternity, I will only give it to Edmun Gerwyn."

"You forget your love for me that easily, Penelope...?"

Penelope Askary looked down. The woman clenched her fists at her sides. She wanted to tell Sebastian De Louis that she never loved him. That his memory of Penelope Askary loving him was his memory of their first life. That’s because Penelope Askary had no other choice but to follow Isabella Lysander’s orders to play the role as if she was very obsessed with the Crown Prince.

"You too..." Penelope clenched her jaw. She looked into Sebastian’s eyes with a firm gaze. "You forget your love for Isabel that easily and suddenly wants me. I’m happy with my choice, Sebastian."

Sebastian De Louis looked down. He chuckled. When he was dying like now, Goddess Oizys didn’t even save him. It seemed like the woman was just taking advantage of him.

"Father...."

The call made Emperor De Louis come to Sebastian. He knelt before his son and smiled. The man held his son’s hand tightly. His son whom he loved very much. The emperor still remembers how happy he was when his wife was declared pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy.

"Hi."

"Father... I’m sorry..." Sebastian cried. "I’ve caused all kinds of trouble. I humiliated you as well as the imperial family. I—"

"Shh. It doesn’t matter. I never hated you. You are my son. Maybe, it was my fault for not raising you well enough. Even so, you are my pride. I love you, Sebastian De Louis."

"Father... please, don’t punish them," Sebastian begged. "They are innocent. You want to promise me not to give them the death penalty or any other punishment, right?"

The Emperor nodded. "Mm."

"Father, please tell Mother that I really love her," Sebastian smiled. "And, I apologize to her for being such a shameful son."

"Shh... get some rest, Sebastian."

"Yes." Sebastian nodded. The light in his eyes started to disappear and he looked down. "Yeah, I’m really tired. I want to sleep. Good night, Father."

Emperor De Louis closed his eyes and tears streamed down his face. His body trembled. He bit his lip so nobody could hear his sobs. The man hugged Sebastian and nodded repeatedly. His heart hurt so much. His only son, his successor, the son he loved so much, had to die like this.

"Mm. Good night, Tian. Hope you have sweet dreams."

Penelope lowered her guard. The woman lost quite a lot of mana. She did get all of Goddess Elleia’s holy power but the Goddess’s holy power had not adapted well to her body. Since the beginning, she has used it against Gabriel Brown and now Sebastian De Louis. The woman’s body began to weaken and Penelope fell to her knees.

"Penny!"

Edmund immediately caught his wife’s body. He hugged her and wiped the sweat, tears, and blood on Penelope’s beautiful face. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Hey, you okay?" asked Edmund in a worried tone. "I was looking for you, Penny. I was worried you might get hurt when you met Gabriel Brown. And now, you’re seriously injured because of your battle with Sebastian. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you well, honey. I’m sorry too for making you worry and cry. You must have been scared because you saw me not moving when Sebastian stabbed my heart with a sword."

Penelope smiled faintly and shook her head.

"It doesn’t matter. I’m glad you could still be saved. But, this is not over yet."

"What?" Edmund looked at his wife with a firm gaze, as did Emperor De Louis and everyone else.

"I...didn’t manage to defeat Gabriel Brown," Penelope said. "The power of darkness within him is much stronger than I thought. I left because I could feel you were in danger. Because my heart is connected to your heart. I came straight here to save you." Penelope froze and her golden eyes stared forward with a sharp gaze. "He’s coming!"

Penelope immediately read a magic spell to create protection for herself and everyone in this room. Then, there was a huge explosion. Dust flew up and when it cleared, two figures could be seen. A man and a woman. Both of them wore black attires. Penelope stood up, helped by Edmund. She came forward together with Edmund to protect the Emperor and the others.

"Ah, is that man finally dead?" asked Goddess Oizys. "Too bad. Even though I have given enough dark power to him. But, he can’t use that dark power well." The woman in the black dress looked at Gabriel Brown and hugged him. "Now you are my only hope, Gabriel Brown. Do not disappoint me."

Gabriel Brown laughed and looked at Penelope Askary.

"With this much power, I’m sure I can kill that damn Saintess and everyone who has holy power, Goddess Oizys. Then, we will spread darkness in this empire and rule the world!"
