Edmund Gerwyn knew something was wrong with Sebastian De Louis right now.
The man’s strength was not what it used to be. There was a killing aura and an aura of darkness surrounding him. His all-black appearance made Edmund guess that the Crown Prince must have been swallowed by the darkness. But, why? Was it because he was angry with him and Penelope when they brought him before the Emperor and had him punished in the palace’s prison? Or, was it because the man hated him so much that he thought he had taken Penelope Askary from him? Or... Goddess Oizys made contact with Sebastian De Louis, met this man, and controlled his mind? Whatever the reason, Edmund couldn’t be careless. He had to be careful.
"Ethan Askary," called Edmund in a firm tone. He glanced at his brother-in-law and smiled. "Please, protect my children."
"What?" Ethan shook his head. "No! I will help you here!"
"I alone am enough to fight Sebastian De Louis."
"Are you blind, Edmund Gerwyn?" The man no longer called Edmund by his title. Ethan didn’t care about titles or anything for now. That man was his brother-in-law. Something bad happens to Edmund and Ethan will see his little sister crying. He would rather be hurt for helping Edmund as long as the Duke was fine and could see his wife and children again. "Sebastian De Louis looks strange at the moment. I may not be a wizard or have great mana like wizards even though I can use a little magic but I knew something was wrong with that man. He must be in contact with Goddess Oizys!"
"I agree with Ethan’s words," Philleo said. He came forward and stood beside Edmund. "The man has the same aura as Gabriel Brown. I can also feel the aura of Goddess Oizys on Sebastian De Louis because I once met that woman and once got a little of her power when I wanted to kill Isabella Lysander and wanted to forcibly remove the holy power of Penelope Askary and the twins."
This confession made Edmund and Ethan give Philleo their sharp gazes. However, Philleo Aaron remained silent and raised one eyebrow.
"What?" asked the man.
"I’ll teach you a lesson after all this is over," growled Edmund. He looked at Claude. "Claude Sylvester, go protect—"
"Done!"
Edmund blinked. "Huh?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"I have created a barrier to protect your children and the maid and the knight who are in charge of taking care of them. I’ve put them to sleep with my magic spell that I activated from here, then I put them in a protective box. The magic of the protective box was extraordinary. Even bombs can’t hurt them." Claude grinned. "I will not leave you, Duke. I will not waste the opportunity to fight the bad guys!"
Hearing that, Sebastian snorted. "You know I’m the Crown Prince of this empire, right? Ever since you tied me up in the Abelavish imperial palace, I’ve had a huge grudge against you. I will definitely kill you."
Edmund pointed his sword surrounded by blue and black light at Sebastian. His blue eyes flashed coldly.
"I won’t let you hurt my people, Sebastian."
"Is the man who intends to steal your wife also one of your people?" mocked Sebastian. The man laughed and pointed at Philleo, who showed a flat expression and gaze. "He almost kidnapped and hurt Penelope Askary several times!"
"At least, he still has a little common sense to help me and Penelope fight Goddess Oizys. At least, he still had a little common sense because he always tried to save Penelope when the woman was in danger caused by other things. He’s not like you who used any means to take my wife and Isabella away, and there wasn’t the slightest desire to help those two women when they were caught in danger."
Philleo glanced at Edmund. The man snorted and opened his palms. The purple light formed a circle.
"You are very poetic, Edmund Gerwyn."
"Of course, I have no intention of just letting you go even though I said good things about you," Edmund glanced at Philleo and grinned. "You’re going to get a special hell from me after this is all over, Philleo Aaron."
Philleo grinned too. "Fair enough." His purple eyes looked straight at Sebastian De Louis. The Crown Prince looked very angry right now. "Now, how about we focus on making that damn man use his brain again?"
Ethan snorted. He took out his sword. "I don’t even know how to respond."
"Well," Edmund looked at Sebastian De Louis with a sharp gaze. "Don’t get killed. That’s the only response I want from all of you."
"Quite a difficult request, Duke," said Claude. He made symbols with his hand movements. "But, I will grant it to you because I still have many wishes in this world!"
A green rope came out of the rubble in Edmund’s study. Different from the previous green ropes, these green ropes look as if they have mouths. Its form was so terrifying, it made Philleo Aaron grimace and refocus on his fight. The green ropes tied Sebastian and Philleo threw the purple ball-like circle towards the Crown Prince.
There was a fairly large explosion. Explosion due to multiple magic powers clashing. After the smoke that appeared began to dissipate, Edmund and the others froze when they saw that Sebastian was okay. The man even laughed mockingly.
"You guys can’t hurt me!" the man shouted. "I’m invincible now! I will be the ruler of this empire! I will kill you all!"
Sebastian suddenly disappears. Edmund’s blue eyes widened. He looked for Sebastian’s whereabouts but the man was nowhere to be found. Then, Edmund turned his head when he heard someone scream. He froze when he saw Claude Sylvester had been thrown against the wall. The green-haired man spat out blood and was wide-eyed. It didn’t stop there, Sebastian opened his palm and the black light pierced Claude’s chest. Once again, the man screamed and coughed up blood. Then, his body didn’t move anymore.
"Ha ha! This is very fun! I managed to kill one rat." Sebastian licked his lips which were stained with Claude Sylvester’s blood from his attack just now. He now looked at Edmund, Ethan, and Philleo. "There are still three mice left. Who will be my next victim?"
"Hey," Philleo looked at Edmund. "If I kill him will I be sentenced to death?"
The Duke was silent. In the next second he answered, "According to imperial law, anyone who attempts to harm a member of the imperial family will, of course, be sentenced to death." The man shrugged his shoulders. "But this time, I will be your guarantor. You won’t get the death penalty because the imperial family member you killed has lost his mind and used forbidden black magic. You know the Emperor of this empire is a very wise man, right? Even if it was his own son, he would not close his eyes."
Philleo smiled. A smile that looks cold. "Pleased to hear it."
"Have you chosen who will go next?" Sebastian asked in a bored tone.
"Shut up," Philleo Aaron muttered something and several magic circles appeared near Sebastian. "You imperial trash. You should just sit there in your Father’s palace prison!"
From the magic circles created by Philleo, purple glowing swords emerged. Then, Philleo pointed both of his hands towards Sebastian. As if being controlled, the swords flew into the air and shot straight towards Sebastian De Louis. However, Sebastian was able to block the magic swords easily.
Philleo clicked his tongue in annoyance. He clapped his hands once and a larger magic circle appeared between him and Sebastian. Then, a fairly large sword appeared and Philleo immediately took his own sword. He read something on the sword and threw it at Sebastian. The large sword disappeared when it collided with Philleo’s real sword, making Philleo’s sword shoot straight towards Sebastian.
Sebastian laughed. He snapped his fingers and a barrier appeared before him. There was a power struggle between the sword and the barrier. Then, Philleo, who was caught off guard and thought that Sebastian was still where he was, widened his eyes. He coughed out blood and looked back.
"You...."
"You didn’t think I would wait there for that magic sword of yours to strike my heart, did you?" chuckled Sebastian. "Before you kill me, I will kill you first."
Philleo shouted loudly as Sebastian continued to press his sword until it penetrated Philleo’s body. Then, Sebastian drew his sword and stepped away from him. He was still laughing while Ethan Askary immediately knelt beside Philleo and Edmund stood in front of the two men, facing Sebastian.
"Hey, hey, don’t move and talk yet," Ethan said in a panicked tone. In his place, Philleo chuckled.
"Are you still worried about me?" Philleo asked in a choked tone. "After what I did to you and your little sister all this time?"
Ethan smiled faintly. "Even so, stay alive. So that I can repay you for what you did to us. Wouldn’t it be unfair if you died because of someone else when I’m the one you’re having trouble with, right?"
Philleo stared at the ceiling which, for some reason, was getting darker and darker. "Yes, you’re right...," he said. He started to close his eyes. "But, I’m so tired. I want to rest." Suddenly, the man cried. "Ethan, I just want to love her. Am I wrong?"
Ethan, who saw Philleo crying, froze. Soon, tears started to fall from his eyes. He shook his head and held Philleo’s hand tightly.
"No. You’re not wrong." Ethan took a deep breath. "There is nothing wrong when we love someone. It’s just that the timing isn’t right for you. And fate never wanted you to stand and walk by my little sister’s side."
"What a touching farewell," Sebastian scoffed. The man grinned at Edmund. "Isn’t that right, Edmund Gerwyn?"
Edmund growled. His face looked very scary. His blue eyes were cold and sharp, and a thick killing aura surrounded the Duke. He held his sword so hard that the back of his hand turned white and the veins on his hand could be clearly seen.
"I will make you regret hurting my people, Sebastian De Louis!" shouted Edmund.
The Duke ran towards Sebastian and pointed his sword. Sebastian deflects Edmund’s sword. The sound of the two swords clashing was very terrifying, making anyone who heard it shivering. Ethan tried to move Philleo to a safe place. He finally placed Philleo near Claude. Both of them are still alive but their condition is very critical. Ethan clenched his jaw. He called Ren in a low voice and the shadow knight appeared without Sebastian knowing.
"How are the conditions in this mansion?" Ethan asked.
"Everything is a mess, Prince. When an explosion occurred here, everyone tried to escape. But, I can’t enter Prince Raven and Princess Ocean’s room. In the room, there was a maid named Sarah and Sir Edgar. Not only me, even Chris couldn’t get into the room."
"It’s because of Claude Sylvester’s magic," said Ethan. His eyes never stopped watching Edmund and Sebastian who were fighting. "Where’s Jellal?"
"He’s looking for the Duchess whereabouts, Prince."
Meanwhile, Edmund continues to attack Sebastian. Several times he was hit by Sebastian’s sword and injured. Several times the man was thrown against the wall and vomited blood. But, Edmund never stopped attacking. No matter how many wounds on his body, no matter how hurt his body is right now, he must defeat Sebastian De Louis.
"It’s useless, Edmund!" shouted Sebastian. The man laughed again and opened his palms. The black light shot quickly into Edmund’s stomach, making Edmund widen his eyes and fall to his knees. He plunged his sword into the rubble and vomited blood for the umpteenth time. "With my current strength, I can defeat you!"
Edmund grinned. "Don’t talk too much, Sebastian. I will make sure you don’t spread any more terror to my wife."
Sebastian snorted. "You’re so annoying." The man snapped his fingers and black magic rope appeared to bind the Duke’s hands from each of his sides. Then, Sebastian walked towards Edmund. "I hate you."
Edmund looked up. "Well, our feelings are mutual. I really hate you too!"
"No, Edmund!" shouted Ethan suddenly. The man ran after telling Ren to look after Claude and Philleo. "EDMUND GERWYN!"
Sebastian grinned. He pointed his sword at Edmund’s left chest.
"Good night, Edmund Gerwyn. Have a good trip to hell!"
Everything happens in slow motion. How Ethan Askary ran towards Edmund Gerwyn while screaming in panic. How Sebastian De Louis stabbed Edmund in the heart while laughing loudly. Also how the pink light appeared behind Sebastian along with the figure of Penelope Askary, who looked angry and cried when she saw how Edmund Gerywn vomited a lot of blood and looked down.
Then, Edmund Gerwyn didn’t move anymore.
