Elisha Brown paled in her place.
Even though she was supported by Sebastian De Louis and that Crown Prince who told her to separate Edmund Gerwyn from Penelope Askary, if the Duchess reported this to the Emperor, the Emperor would definitely punish her. Her family name would be ruined, especially since her older brother was a head priest. If that were the case, Elisha was sure that the Crown Prince would not want to protect her. The man would definitely say he didn’t know anything.
"I will kill you, bitch!" shouted Elisha Brown. The woman immediately lunged at Penelope, making Penelope wide-eyed and scream. Her back hit the floor and it made Penelope cough.
"Duchess!" Jellal exclaimed. The shadow knight intended to save Penelope but Penelope shook her head.
"Jellal, go to the palace right now and give that proof to the Emperor. Duke Edmund is there! You tell him what happened here."
"But, Duchess—"
"I can handle this, Jellal!" Penelope held Elisha’s hands, who had taken out a dagger from her dress and intended to stab her left chest. "Hurry, leave right now so that the imperial knights come here to take this woman to the imperial prison!"
Jellal didn’t know what to do. But, he also couldn’t possibly disobey the Duchess’ orders. While groaning and cursing softly, Jellal immediately disappeared and immediately headed for the palace.
"Do people know that this is your true nature, Elisha Brown?" Penelope asked mockingly. The woman chuckled. "I don’t think anyone knows about this, including your family, whom you are always proud of."
"Shut up! A crazy woman like you should live in hell, Penelope Askary! You don’t deserve a man as handsome and rich as Edmund Gerwyn! He should be mine!" Elisha Brown laughs like a mentally ill psychopath. Her eyes were so scary, they made Penelope swallow hard and try to control her heart which was beating so fast. "You don’t need to worry about your children, Penelope Askary. I’ll make sure they’re okay. Then, if the opportunity comes, I will send your children to hell to go after you and accompany you rotten over there!"
Hearing that, Penelope’s anger began to rise to the surface. She doesn’t mind if someone else insults her or hurts her. However, Penelope will not remain silent if someone threatens her to hurt her children, especially if that person actually manages to hurt the twins.
"How dare you want to kill Raven and Ocean!" Penelope shouted. The woman kicked Elisha in the stomach using her knee until Elisha groaned in pain and was thrown backward. The dagger in her hand was thrown and Penelope immediately kicked the dagger far away. Then, the woman approached Elisha and pulled her hair until Elisha stood up. Of course, Elisha screamed because of this and tried to remove Penelope’s hand from her head. "Do you think I will let you do and say whatever you like about my children, Elisha Brown?!"
"Argh! Let me go! Hurts! You hurt me! You really are a cruel woman, Penelope Askary!"
"You already know that I am the cruelest woman in this empire and you dare to harass me? You dare disturb the peace of me and my family?" Penelope Askary laughed and slapped Elisha Brown until the woman fell to the floor again. "You crazy woman, Elisha Brown! I will destroy your entire family. Do you think that because your Father is an important man in this empire, and your older brother is the head priest, I can’t do it? You’re so wrong, Elisha! Destroying your family is easy for me!"
Elisha Brown growled and stood up. She walked with quick steps toward Penelope and slapped her hard. Penelope was pushed back several steps but did not fall like Elisha before. However, Penelope’s lips were bleeding because she accidentally bit her lip when Elisha slapped her.
"Do you think I’m afraid of you, Penelope?! No! I will do anything to make Edmund Gerwyn mine and for you to rot in hell!" Elisha grabbed Penelope’s hair from both sides of her head. This made Penelope scream and try to get Elisha away from her. As her balance faltered, Penelope’s eyes widened as she fell to the floor. Her back hit the floor and Elisha immediately took the opportunity to strangle Penelope.
"Dead! You must die now! Edmund Gerwyn is mine! Ha ha!" Elisha continued to increase her strength, making Penelope start to have difficulty breathing. However, the woman did not give up. She remembered the magic spell taught by Claude Sylvester and immediately recited it as loudly as possible. The pink light appeared and knocked Elisha flying.
Penelope coughed and rubbed her neck. She rose from her lying position and created some distance from Elisha.
"Die! Die! Die! Penelope Askary must die! She should go to hell right now! Ha ha!" Elisha Brown stood up and gave Penelope a murderous look. She glanced at her cup that was on the table and threw it on the floor. Then, Elisha took the broken glass from the cup and ran again toward Penelope.
Penelope mustered all her strength to stand even though her neck still hurt, as did her back. Then, her leg also seemed to be sprained. While groaning in pain, she tried to avoid Elisha. The woman caught Elisha’s hand as she tried to slash her neck with the broken glass.
"You should still love Sebastian De Louis like before! You should remain obsessed with him and not bother Edmund Gerwyn! You must have tricked Edmund Gerwyn into getting him to marry you! Shameless bitch!"
"Elisha Brown!" Penelope growled. "I will make sure you get severe punishment for all of your actions!"
Penelope screamed when the shard cut her neck. Fortunately, the shards did not cut the vital part of her neck, which could have endangered her life. Penelope snatched the shard from Elisha’s hand and it injured her hand. But, the woman didn’t care. She grabbed Elisha’s arm and then stood behind the woman. Then, Penelope strangled Elisha’s neck using her arm from behind. Elisha struggled violently and tried to get free. She even elbowed Penelope in the stomach. Even though she groaned in pain, Penelope did not release her stranglehold. A few seconds later, Elisha didn’t move anymore. The woman fell to the floor together with Penelope. Of course, Elisha Brown isn’t dead. Penelope Askary only made her lose consciousness so that she wouldn’t cause any more trouble.
"Dammit!" Penelope tried to control her ragged breath. She glanced at Elisha Brown, who had collapsed near her. "You make my whole body ache and hurt like this, Elisha Brown."

"What should we do about the monsters that suddenly appeared in the square, Duke? I heard they appeared right after a mysterious woman announced to everyone that Duchess Penelope was the Saintess hand-picked by the Goddess Elleia."
Edmund was silent. The man massaged the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. To be honest, the Duke didn’t know what to do either. He was as confused as the Emperor regarding these monsters. If they appeared right when the news broke about Penelope Askary being a Saintess, then Edmund thought this was not a coincidence.
"I will find out who the mysterious woman is and ask her about this, Your Highness," said Edmund in a firm tone. "Because, I’m afraid that woman just wants to cause a commotion in the square by spreading false rumors about the Duchess. I’m afraid the ultimate goal is to release those monsters and destroy the empire. Well, but I also can’t rule out the possibility that the Duchess might really be a Saintess chosen directly by the Goddess."
The Emperor nodded and took a deep breath. "The problems created by my son and the problems related to Marquess Lysander have not yet finished, now I have to think about a new, even more frightening problem."
"Ah, regarding Marquess Lysander—"
"I have sent several of my knights to investigate Marquess Lysander according to your wishes, Duke," said the Emperor, interrupting Edmund’s sentence. The man smiled. "You don’t need to worry about that. If Marquess Lysander is proven to have used black magic and committed human sacrifice, then he will not escape the death penalty."
At that moment, Jellal suddenly appeared in the middle of the room. This made Edmund and the Emperor gasp and widen their eyes. The Emperor’s Knight, who was always loyal to the Emperor’s side, was ready to attack Jellal but the Emperor immediately held him back.
"Jellal, what are you doing?!" Edmund growled. "Don’t you know what you’re doing right now is very impolite?! You are in the presence of the Emperor!"
"Forgive me for my impudence, Duke, Your Highness the Emperor," Jellal said in a panicked tone. He immediately knelt and handed over the small bag in his hand. "But, I must quickly give this to His Highness the Emperor."
"What’s this?" asked the Emperor in a confused tone.
"It is something that has black magic in it."
"What?!" shouted Edmund and the Emperor together.
"Lady Elisha Brown came to Gerwyn’s mansion and argued with the Duchess, Duke. Lady Elisha intends to bewitch the Duke so that the Duke leaves the Duchess and chooses her. The Duchess discovered the black magic and right now the two of them are fighting, Duke!"
Hearing that, Edmund Gerwyn froze and clenched his hands into fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white. Meanwhile, the Emperor immediately ordered his knights to summon the palace magician, to examine the object containing black magic.
"How dare that woman come to my mansion and disturb the peace of my Duchess," said Edmund in a cold tone. As cold as his smile right now. "I will destroy the entire Brown family this very second."
