Chapter 147: #147-Penelope Askary And Elisha Brown

"Aren’t your Mother and Father worried if you go into the past like this? I mean, your Mother and Father in the future."

Raven Gerwyn, who was mixing cake dough, smiled and glanced at Penelope briefly. Currently, the two of them were in the kitchen. Everyone was told to get out by Penelope so that no one would be able to hear their conversation. Ethan, Isabella, and Helios were still in the living room while Edmund was lecturing Ocean Gerwyn and Edgar in the front garden. Sarah was looking after the baby twins in their room.

"Mother, you are the kindest woman Ocean and I have ever known. Maybe you are very worried if something happens to me and Ocean but you don’t go to extremes like forbidding us to explore new things around us. You also always allow us to go play to the past as long as no one knows our identities. In contrast to Father, who is very annoying and always forbids us to do new things."

"If your identities cannot be known by people in the past, then why did you tell Mother your and Ocean’s identities, Darling?" Penelope asked in a curious tone. The woman tasted the cake dough made by her eldest son and smiled broadly when she realized that it tasted very good. She pointed her thumb at Raven, making Raven laugh.

"For once, Ocean and I decided to disobey Mother’s orders in the future," chuckled Raven. "Because I know Mother will definitely be hysterical and wary of us if we suddenly appear like before and suddenly take Mother away from that bastard Philleo Aaron."

"You’re a naughty child, Raven," Penelope shook her head in amusement and ruffled her eldest son’s hair. "Then, how did you know that Mother was in that place and was trapped with Philleo Aaron?"

"When we were little, around the time we were seven or eight years old, Mother told us about her and Father’s life stories every night. Because I remembered it, I invited Ocean to save Mother from this time."

"Doesn’t that mean you have violated the existing law?" Penelope asked. "I mean, there’s a law that forbids anyone from changing the past, right? So that the future that has been created will not be destroyed or changed."

"Well," Raven rubbed the back of his neck and cleared his throat. "We already got permission when we asked Goddess Elleia."

"Hm?"

"Do you remember the dream you had when you met us and when we told you about the cake and milk that Philleo Aaron gave you?"

"Ah." Penelope turned her head around and saw the cake box placed on the table. "I remember. Didn’t you guys appear in my dream last night? Eh? Or two days ago?"

Raven nodded. "Goddess Elleia met us in a dream and allowed us to meet Mother. Then, we asked the Goddess to allow us to save Mother today. More or less."

"MOTHER!"

Penelope and Raven blinked, then turned their heads. Ocean ran over while pouting and immediately hugged Penelope. Her youngest daughter hid her face in Penelope’s chest, making Penelope stroke her hair lovingly.

"Darling? What is it?"

"Father scolded me!" Ocean complained. "Father will make a rule saying that no man in this empire can approach me. I mean, the baby version of me, Mother. Father even forbade me from being close to Sir Edgar."

"What?" Penelope snorted. "That man really needs to be scolded by me."

Suddenly, Edmund Gerwyn appeared in the kitchen. His face looked pale and panicked, making Penelope raise an eyebrow.

"What other absurd acts have you done to your daughter, Duke Edmund?" Penelope asked in a firm tone.

"I just did what a Father should do to protect his daughter!" Edmund tried to defend himself. He stood in front of Penelope and Ocean, who were still hugging his wife. "Ocean, Father—"

"I don’t want to talk to you, Father!" Ocean exclaimed. Her voice was muffled because she was hiding her face in Penelope’s chest.

"I told you that your daughter would hate you if you behaved like this," Penelope sighed and clicked her tongue. "Hurry, take back your words against Ocean."

"But, Penny—"

"Ed!" Penelope growled. "You are really childish!"

Edmund looked down. Penelope seemed to be able to see two dog ears and a dog’s tail on her husband’s body. This made Penelope hold back a smile and shake her head.

"Ocean, Father is sorry, okay? I promise I won’t say any more nonsense to you."

Ocean peeked out of Penelope’s arms. "Then, let me take a walk with Sir Edgar."

"Huh?!"

"Mother!" Ocean whined, making Penelope glare at her husband. Like it or not, Edmund was forced to agree, making Ocean smile broadly and immediately run while shouting Edgar’s name.

"Father, just accept the fact that you are defeated by your own knight," Raven said mockingly while grinning.

###

After chatting for a while and eating together, Raven and Ocean had to return to the future because according to them, they shouldn’t be in the same time and place as their baby selves.

Edmund Gerwyn went straight to the palace because the Emperor told him to come to discuss the problem of the monsters that suddenly appeared in the square. Meanwhile, Helios, Jeremy, and Isabella had returned to the Abelavish imperial palace together with Ethan. Ethan didn’t want to leave Isabella. He missed that woman, he said. Because of this, Ethan wanted to spend as much time as possible with Isabella.

"Duchess," Evan called. The butler bowed before Penelope, who was putting the twins to sleep. "There is a guest who wants to see you."

Penelope frowned. "Without sending an advance notice if they want to visit Gerwyn’s mansion?"

"That’s right, Duchess." Evan nodded. "She said she had something important to discuss with the Duchess."

"Who is it?" Penelope covered the twins with a blanket and kissed their foreheads in turn.

"Lady Elisha Brown."

Hearing that, Penelope froze and took a deep breath. She asked Sarah to look after the children and then left the room with quick steps. Her expression and gaze looked firm, making Evan, who was following behind her, glance at the woman timidly.

"Duchess," Evan called carefully. "Should I report this to the Duke?"

"No need," shook Penelope. "I can solve this myself."

Penelope entered the living room when Evan opened the door. She looked at Elisha Brown, who was drinking tea while sitting on the sofa. The woman didn’t even stand up to greet her. This was her home and her status was much higher than that of hers. How dare she behave like this just because Sebastian De Louis got her back?

"Stand up."

Elisha Brown, who decided to act as she pleased because she was going to use black magic on Duke Edmund so that the man would abandon Penelope and choose her, looked up to look at Penelope.

"Yes?"

"Stand up and bow before me, Elisha Brown," said Penelope in a cold tone. "Did you forget I’m a Duchess?"

"Ha! You—" However, Elisha Brown couldn’t finish her words when she saw how cold Penelope’s gaze was right now. The Duchess even gave off a dangerous aura, making Elisha hurriedly lower her head and her body tremble.

"How dare you be so impudent in front of me, Elisha Brown," Penelope growled. "Kneel before me to apologize right now."

Elisha’s heart was beating very fast. She followed Penelope’s orders and swallowed hard. The woman couldn’t lift her head. More precisely, she didn’t dare raise her head because she didn’t dare look at Penelope.

"Stay on your knees and say what you need." Penelope crossed her arms. "You didn’t even send a notification letter before coming here."

"I..." Elisha wet her lips. She clenched both fists because of her fear and anger. Frightened by Penelope’s intimidation, angry because she felt humiliated by that bitch. "I just wanted to tell you that I will snatch Duke Edmund from you, Penelope Askary! I am the one worthy to stand beside Duke Edmund as his Duchess. You don’t deserve to stand by his side. You’ve given birth to his children, haven’t you? Leave them and get out of Duke Edmund’s life. I will replace your position as wife and Mother in this mansion."

Penelope snorted and she shook her head. She couldn’t believe she was hearing this nonsense from Elisha Brown’s mouth. This woman is truly shameless.

"You must have lost your mind, Elisha Brown," said Penelope in a sharp tone. "Until I die, I will never let you snatch Edmund Gerwyn from my arms. He is mine!"

Elisha Brown smiled faintly. This is good, she thought. She would use the black magic that the witch had given to her to Edmund Gerwyn and cast the spell right here and now. So, when Edmund Gerwyn enters his mansion, he will see Penelope as her and will throw her out.

"You’re carrying something very rotten, Elisha Brown."

Penelope’s words made Elisha freeze. The woman widened her eyes and looked up. Penelope’s golden eyes, which were always said to be the most beautiful eyes in the De Louis empire, were now not as beautiful as people said. Those eyes now looked cold and scary.

"Yes?" Elisha Brown started to get nervous and panic. "What do you mean, Penelope Askary?"

"You used black magic inside my mansion," Penelope said in a sharp tone. "How dare you do such disgusting things in my mansion?!"

Penelope Askary immediately snapped her fingers and a pink magic circle appeared under her feet. Then, the entire room was filled with the pink light and attacking the black smoke coming out of Elisha Brown’s dress.

"Jellal!"

Jellal appears when Penelope calls him. The man knelt before her and waited for orders from the Duchess.

"Search Elisha Brown’s dress. She has something related to black magic."

"Hey!" Elisha Brown stood up and pointed at Penelope. "You can’t have a man search me, Penelope Askary! I am a woman from a noble family!"

"Search her," Penelope said in a firm tone. "I will be responsible."

Jellal immediately searched Elisha Brown, who was now struggling. Then, the shadow knight took out a small bag from Elisha Brown’s dress and handed it to Penelope. The woman inspected the contents of the small bag and looked at Elisha, who was pale, with a murderous gaze.

"You want to bewitch my husband so that he forgets me and chooses you, huh?" Penelope snorted and approached Elisha. Then, she slapped Elisha’s cheek so hard that the sound of the slap echoed throughout the room. Elisha even fell because of Penelope’s hard slap. "I will bring you before the Emperor, Elisha Brown. It seems you forgot that black magic is prohibited in the De Louis empire."
