Chapter 144: #144-The Mysterious Figures

Meanwhile, in the Abelavish empire...

Ethan Askary arrived in the Abelavish imperial palace a few moments before the chaos in the De Louis empire occurred, so the man did not know that monsters and other terrifying strange creatures had already appeared in the De Louis empire.

The man followed a knight from the palace and a maid assigned by Helios Rune Abelavish to protect Isabella Lysander. Ethan walked quickly because he couldn’t wait to meet Isabella. According to Helios’ story, Isabella was hysterical and wouldn’t stop crying due to the vision she had.

"Prince Ethan," said the knight, who accompanied him. He opened his palm toward the door beside him. "Lady Isabella is in this room."

Ethan nodded and squeezed his shoulder as he thanked him. Then, Ethan took a deep breath and opened the door in front of him. He entered with slow steps. His eyes looked at Isabella, who was standing by the window. Her face looked pale and tears were streaming down her beautiful face. Her tiny body was shaking violently. The woman hugged herself and bit her lower lip.

"Isabel," Ethan called in a soft tone.

Isabella, who had not received any information regarding Ethan, turned her head around. Her eyes widened when she saw Ethan Askary smiling at her. The woman clenched her hands into fists at her sides and began to sob.

"Is that really you, Ethan Askary?" Isabella asked in a choked tone. She started walking toward Ethan.

"Do I look like a ghost to you?" Ethan asked back. The man smiled even more. "It’s me, Ethan Askary. I, the man who loves you very much and will marry you."

Isabella cried even more. She covered her mouth with both hands. Then, the woman ran toward Ethan. However, because her body was shaking, Isabella lost her balance and her body swayed forward. Seeing that, Ethan widened his eyes and ran toward Isabella. He immediately caught Isabella’s body and both of them fell to the floor. Ethan’s back hit the wall and Isabella was on top of the man’s body.

"Hey, are you okay?" asked Ethan in a panicked and worried tone. The man tried to catch his breath and wiped the tears from Isabella’s pale face. "Isabel, please answer me."

"I thought I wouldn’t be able to see you again," Isabella said, ignoring Ethan’s question. The woman sobbed violently. Hearing Isabella’s voice and her words, Ethan froze and his heart ached greatly. "I thought I was too late to save you. I thought Sebastian managed to kill you. What should I do so that you don’t get hurt? I’m willing to die as long as you’re okay and Sebastian doesn’t target you anymore."

"Shh. Don’t talk carelessly," said Ethan in a firm tone. He laid Isabella’s head against his chest and caressed her hair. "I would never let you do something like that. I won’t make you afraid and anxious any more. This is the first and last time I make you feel like this. I will always protect you, Isabel."

Isabella closed her eyes and nodded against Ethan’s warm chest. His chest is moving and tells her that he’s breathing. Ethan’s heartbeat told Isabella that this wasn’t a dream. That Ethan is really still alive. She thanked Goddess Elleia profusely in her heart for saving Ethan and returning Ethan to her.

Suddenly, Isabella gasped. She just had another vision. The woman got off Ethan’s body and swallowed hard. Isabella held Ethan’s hand tightly and said, "Ethan, someone has come to the De Louis empire."

"What do you mean?"

Isabella shook her head. "I don’t know. My vision is not very clear. Mm, there are two people. I couldn’t see whether they were a man or a woman. Or both. They stood at a distance and wore black robes that covered their entire bodies. Then, I saw Penny."

"My little sister?" Ethan asked, frowning.

"Yes," nodded Isabella. "But, she was in a strange place that I didn’t recognize. Quite a dark and unused place. Penny coughed and looked wary at someone in front of her."

"Can you recall the details, Isabel?" asked Ethan in a worried tone. "Suddenly, I have a bad feeling about this."

Isabella nodded and closed her eyes. She frowned, trying to recall the details that came to mind. Silver hair, purple eyes, a handsome face, and a frightening gaze. Isabella opened her eyes and grabbed Ethan’s arm.

"Philleo Aaron!"

"Yes?"

"Penny is with Philleo Aaron, Ethan!"

At that moment, the door to the room opened and the maid, who always accompanied Isabella, entered with a panicked face and look.

"Lady Isabella, I just received information from Sir Jeremy, who was gathering the palace knights in the knights’ barracks. The De Louis Empire is being attacked by monsters and other strange and terrifying creatures!"

"What?!" Ethan and Isabella exclaimed together and immediately stood up. Before long, Jeremy appeared. He came in with a pale face and bowed toward Ethan.

"Greetings to Prince Ethan—"

"You can just say whatever you want to say without having to greet me, Sir Jeremy," said Ethan, interrupting Jeremy’s sentence. "Is it true that the De Louis empire is being attacked?"

"That’s right, Prince. And, I just got more information about the De Louis empire." Jeremy swallowed hard and took a deep breath as if he was preparing himself. "Currently, Duchess Penelope is reported to be missing."

###

Penelope coughed and tried to shake off the dust flying in front of her face.

"It looks like you need this to cover your nose and mouth so you don’t cough from this dust, Penelope," said Philleo while handing her his handkerchief. However, Penelope slapped the man’s hand away and snorted.

"I don’t need your handkerchief, Philleo Aaron!" Penelope exclaimed. The woman took a step back to create some distance from her former personal knight. "It would be better for me to cough or be allergic to this dust than to have to use your handkerchief. Who knows if your handkerchief has sleeping liquid or something on it and you will touch me while I’m unconscious? I would rather die than have to wear your things, Philleo Aaron."

Philleo chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. "Suit yourself, My Lady," said the man. He glanced around the room and raised an eyebrow. "There are no loopholes that can be used to get out of this place. That means, until help arrives, you will be stuck here with me, Penelope."

Penelope took a deep breath and bit her lip. She had to find a way to be free from this place. Penelope didn’t know much about magic spells that could make her blow up walls or something. She also didn’t know anything about teleportation magic. If she suddenly appeared in the square, it would be because the Goddess teleported her.

"Ed will definitely be worried," Penelope muttered. She massaged her temples. "My children need me. I have to try to be free from this place."

"Unless you can penetrate walls, I suggest you just stay still to conserve all your energy," Philleo said.

"I don’t need your advice!" Penelope shouted. The woman clicked her tongue in annoyance and started walking. She must not give up. She had to find a way out somehow.

Suddenly, a light appeared in the distance. Penelope stopped in her tracks, and so did Philleo. The man took out his sword and immediately stood in front of Penelope. The woman was surprised and glanced at Philleo but didn’t react much.

"Who is there?!" exclaimed Philleo. The man would not allow anyone to hurt the woman he loved. "Don’t you ever think you can touch Penelope!"

"I should be the one saying that!" exclaimed the mysterious figure. He ran quickly, seemingly flying toward Philleo, and immediately attacked Philleo with his sword. "Don’t think you can touch Penelope Askary as you please, you bastard!"

A fight broke out between the mysterious figure and Philleo Aaron. Penelope looked alert. She took a step back to protect herself. Then, the woman gasped when someone grabbed her arm from behind. Penelope turned her head around and widened her eyes when faced with a black-robed person, who looked like a woman.

"Come with me!" exclaimed the figure. From her voice, Penelope became increasingly convinced that the figure was indeed a woman. "I will protect you and take you out of this place!"

Penelope knew they were strangers but the woman didn’t feel afraid for some reason. She actually felt comfortable and peaceful around them. Penelope followed the woman and tilted her head.

"Who are you guys?" Penelope asked in a gentle tone. "I know you guys won’t do anything bad to me."

The figure smiled and opened her hood.

"I knew you would always recognize us," said the black-robed woman. Her golden eyes seemed to sparkle, making Penelope enchanted. However, there was only one golden eye while the other eye was blue. Penelope froze and covered her mouth with both hands.

"Ocean...?"

Ocean Gerwyn, who currently looks like a seventeen-year-old girl, smiled and hugged Penelope Askary tightly.

"Hi, Mother. Brother and I came to save Mother.
