Chapter 80: Conductivity.

With the crystals acquired, Alaric proceeded with his task.

Back in his world, he recalled a moment during his training in the military program, where he stumbled upon a forgotten civilization.

On this land, he found things that the average human should not have, one of them being a mini water wheel connected to a broken-down generator.

At the time, he never really thought too much about it. That was until he needed it.

Alaric stared down at the blueprint. Three parts were identified.

The wheel, which had already been built, the transformers made from logs, and lastly, the generator.

For this, Alaric had some of the blacksmiths build him a huge box, big enough to fit at least ten men, and so tall one could not see the top from the ground.

This huge box was placed at the center of the training ground, almost taking the whole space.

Inside the box, Alaric had used sticks to design a basic structure. Thanks to his engineering magic skill, it was easier for him to determine.

He first drilled a huge hole at the side of the box, large enough for him to jump into. Once he had done that, he had Laura pass him the iron rods through that very hole.

Before he knew it, only he and a lot of other materials were in the dark box.

"Master, do you need help in there?" Aurora asked from the other side.

"No, I’m fine! Just stay close by and make sure the box doesn’t tip over!"

His voice echoed inside the huge box.

"Tip? I don’t think something this big will get knocked over, young master."

"We’ll see."

Alaric grabbed the huge hammer in his hand, gently placed a rod at the center of the box, and began slamming the hammer on it.

He kept on doing it for a couple of hours, placing each rod in the right place and building a small iron fortress that could stand on its own.

By the time Alaric was done setting up the entire iron inside the box, it had gotten to nighttime.

"Master? Are you sure you’re alive in there?" Aurora spoke, trying to peep through the big hole.

"You have such a small mouth yet such a loud voice," Alaric responded.

He was seated on the ground, his back resting against the wood in order to catch his breath.

"Ah, good, you’re alright. Are you sure you don’t need my help?"

Alaric took a second to look at the stacked-up iron that had been drilled into the walls and networked perfectly.

"Yeah...I might need your help. Tell Laura to create another hole."

"Right away."

After delivering her message, Aurora joined Alaric inside the incomplete generator.

Since there was iron everywhere, Aurora kept lowering her head in order not to hit anything.

"Wow, you did all this by yourself, young master." She looked around with amazement.

"Yeah, but we are not done yet. You see those gears?"

Alaric pointed in a direction for Aurora to see.

"Take each one and place it where I tell you to."

Alaric then crossed his legs, allowing the blueprint to rest on his lap as he began to read it.

"Okay, rod three, add size 5 gear there..." he began.

Aurora, with little time to ask any questions, began to do as she was told.

Each gear and rod had numbers written on them. Adding random gears to the ends of the rod would make the entire generator collapse. Only the right setting would give it a successful rotation.

Thus, Ava followed every bit of Alaric’s words to the letter, using her heat to weld the gears together.

Before they knew it, they had every gear placed in their respective positions.

At the very top, toward the roof of the generator, were two metal rods sticking out and facing one another.

This was where the crystals were moving to.

Before then, Alaric had to be sure the rotations within the generator were perfect.

’Spin it!’ he yelled directly into Laura’s mind.

Since she was outside, she could use her strength to grip the rod sticking out of the newly opened hole and begin to roll it.

As she rolled it, before the first 60°, she heard a creaking sound, and then right after, the rod began spinning safely without her having to add too much strength as she did initially.

Right inside the generator, every gear, every rod worked in perfect harmony.

The right went clockwise, the left counterclockwise.

Alaric stood at a safe distance, watching as the gears worked with one another.

’It worked on my first try?’ he smiled. ’I guess I have my skill to thank.’

If it was something different, Alaric would have easily had his workers handle it. But for something as delicate as this, he needed to be the one to do it.

"Aurora."

He pointed upward, "Place the crystals up there. Make sure it’s tightened to the knob."

Aurora followed her master’s gaze before picking the huge crystals on the ground and boosting upward.

She gently placed the crystals in each section and then tightened them with the iron that had been placed around them for protection.

Done, she shouted with a thumbs up.

"I’m done!!!"

Alaric smiled. ’Now, since the gears are spinning in opposite directions, that should give it enough force. Once the crystals clash against one another, it should generate a good amount of electricity.’

He turned his gaze to the side, "Laura! Spin it again! A single time!" he yelled.

"Okayyyy!"

Laura was quick to respond.

Just like before, she began to spin the rod from outside, allowing the inside to follow the movement.

Then the sound came.

Glinkkkkkk!

The two crystals clashed against each other.

A huge wall of electricity appeared at the upper part of the generator before it dispersed and spread around the iron, giving out charges that tried to glue to the wood and other materials around it.

This was a good progress, as seen with the smirk on Alaric’s face.

"That’s enough for one night. Let’s head back."

...

The next morning...

Alaric stood at a far distance, watching as people were loading the wagons with materials.

The last thing he needed to figure out was how to get both a conductor and an insulator to not only handle the electricity but also carry it to different points.

Copper was quite expensive, and it wasn’t like he had any in the mining ground.

In other words, he knew he needed to think of another method, and quick.

Poof!

Laura and Aurora appeared behind him.

"We’ve searched the entire forest. I’m afraid there’s nothing with high conductivity," Laura reported.

It was then followed by Aurora...

"Though I did spot a plant, it looked to be exactly what you wanted. The only issue was, if we were to pull it out from the ground, it wouldn’t be any longer than my hand."

’So...that’s how it is.’ Alaric placed his hand on his waist, eyes focused on the sky.

He thought of using Fiona’s excellent abilities to find a quick solution, but he didn’t want to ruin the relationship he had only just begun.

It was bad enough both his parents felt he was crazy to think of marrying a monster and still trying to convince Fiona to step down. Adding any more could easily make her feel unwanted.

Alaric sighed.

"I planned on finishing this project to the very end without the help of this freaking carrier, but it’s seeming like I don’t have much of a choice in the matter."

[Carrier feels hurt you planned on abandoning them after all they have done for you.]

’Resources management. Anyway, shuffle. I need cards to help my current predicament.’

[Be specific.]

Alaric took a second to collect his thoughts.

"I need a summon. One that can provide capable materials to help with electricity conductivity," he said out loud.

Laura and Aurora looked at one another, wondering who their master could possibly be speaking to.

[Request confirmed.]

[Activating beast summoning with probability cards...]

[Would you like to summon?]

Alaric squeezed his face. ’Yes.’

He knew what was coming right after, and he so wished it didn’t.

[Cost: 200,000 Cp.]

Alaric gripped his chest, a weird grin growing on his face. ’You fucking scammer.’

He clicked the button.

[Summon in progress.]

Suddenly, a small portal opened in front of Alaric, with a huge amount of wind blowing right after.

From within the portal, a seal with legs, carrying a briefcase, walked.

’Eh?’

[Congratulations on your summon.]

[Seal. This summon has the ability to add wire to anything.

Note: Can only be used up to 10 yards.]

Alaric instantly had an unsatisfied look on his face.

’Return...another summon,’ he frowned.

And just as he requested, the system pulled the seal back into the portal and then showed another 200,000 Cp for Alaric to tap to progress with the next summon.

Alaric sighed. ’You really don’t plan on hiding your scams anymore, huh?’

He clicked the button.

[Summon in progress.]

...

[A\N: Thank you all for 1k unlocks. I am so grateful.]
