Chapter 536: Chapter 536: Hive Heaven

Hive Heaven.

Unlike the Draconic Heavenly Realm and the Leonine Heavenly Realm, the Hive Heaven was a lot different.

The skies and abyssal voids of the Draconic heaven were multicoloured but had a strong tint of purple mixed in.

The Leonine Heavenly Realm was mostly multicoloured with a different mix of auras everywhere.

The Hive Heaven, on the other hand, was different, with a strong greenish-yellow hue everywhere.

But here, there was no sky or void; what existed was a fully occupied space, where every few tens of meters was filled with a substance that bees used to make the walls of their hives on the mortal worlds.

Beeswax and propolis. Stronger than most metals and more elastic than a dragon’s tendon.

It was thin, almost greyish yellow in color, which overlapped with the greenish yellow tint of the Hive Heaven.

Through the winding tunnels and cave systems that spanned billions upon trillions of kilometres, large insect-like creatures dashed at insane speeds, leaving fading streaks and after-images behind them.

Bees the size of human cars zoomed and zigged, covering tens of meters within an instant.

Each of them had thick exoskeletons that would put most heavy-armoured knights to shame.

The bees existed in varieties, some had yellow and black colours and moved with electric arks or spiky exoskeletons.

Some bees had red stripes, some had blue, some had green. The colour of their stripes didn’t exactly convey the type of power that they had but it represented their varieties.

The bees moved with business on their minds. All of them had something to do.

It was They were either soldiers, workers, nurses, menders, scouts, gatherers, and so on. There was a wide range of roles that traveled across the ranks of bees.

From one tunnel and cave system to the other, they moved.

Winding through these countless tunnels was one particular bee with icy blue stripes.

His wings flapped hard against the heavenly atmosphere, creating a terrifying buzzing sound and pushing him forward at incredible speeds, causing his body to leave behind a frosty trail.

Soon, after passing many factories and birthing caves, this scout bee finally arrived at a grand cave entrance.

Here, the many guards flew around. This place was big and had glowing gems all over that provided lighting to the surroundings.

The number of guards that protected this place was a lot, easily over a million.

And that was all this frost bee of the scout role could see, there were probably more standing ready behind the thin yet durable walls, ready to rip any intruder to shreds.

As the scout bee got closer, a group of guard bees noticed him, they showed their large heads in his direction and snapped their sharp black mandibles at him.

The scout bees let out a distinct telepathic wave that brushed against the antennas of the guard bees.

The guard bees, seemingly coming to an understanding of what the telepathic wave conveyed, parted ways for the Frost Bee scout.

The scout bee continued to fly deeper into the hive, passing by many guard bees until he entered another layer.

This place was filled with guard bees too, but each of them here was an elite among elites.

The average among them here was tier 6 equivalent and there were hundreds of thousands of them.

If it were in any other race, these tier 6 equivalent bees would be considered powerhouses and would receive a lot of benefits and autonomy over their lives.

But here in Hive Heaven, these bees were confined to the limits of their roles, irrespective of how strong they were.

Tier 6 or tier 1, a guard bee was still a guard bee, a soldier bee was still a soldier bee, a worker was still a worker and a scout was still a scout.

It was sad, but also very efficient.

The delegation of roles and maintenance of an immobile social hierarchy etched into their biology was the reason the bee swarm could maintain its civilization for so long.

"Enough!," One of the elite guards commanded, releasing his fiery aura as well as the strong smell of honey.

"What do you want?" He asked, his pincers clacking against each other with malicious intent.

Thousands of these elite guards focused their attention on the scout bee, pressuring the poor creature with their collective auras.

The scout bee panicked, not because of the many elite guards, but because time was passing and he had not yet delivered the message to the Queen of Queens.

"It’s important," The scout bee said without stopping. He released another telepathic wave, this one was a bit different from the one he had shown to the ordinary guards.

The message covered in this one was very different.

"The Natural Decree!" The leading elite guard said, fumes bursting from his red striped body.

"He shall pass!" He shouted, turning to face his colleagues.

There was a clamor but nothing could be done, another confirmation was delivered from the hive mind they were all connected to.

Having received the two-step verification, they parted ways like the Red Sea, allowing the scout bee to pass through as fast as possible.

The scout bee dashed ahead, warping through multiple boost gates to increase his speed before finally coming to a stop.

In front of him was a fleshy gate attached to the walls of the hive.

As if already waiting for his arrival, the fleshy gate squirmed before peeling away from his view and clearing all obstructions.

What appeared before the poor scout bee’s eyes was a scene fit only for the pompous of bees. The upper echelons, the true rulers of the hive.

The scout bee passed through the gate and his instincts took over. He dropped to the propolis floor, using his six legs to continue the journey.

He tucked his wings back and focused his five eyes forward, following the strong scent of the All-Mother.

The thick stench of honey greeted his senses. It was a stench so thick and sweet that the scout bee began to feel a little dizzy.

...

"It...has...arrived...ugh..."

...

The gruff and deep horrific voice followed by labored breathing resounded across the golden hall.

The scout bee stopped walking all of a sudden, a look of dread and unwillingness overcoming his mind as he witnessed the gory banquet of queens taking place inside.

The scout bee bowed, not wanting to gaze upon the grandness and unholiness of his mothers.

"Queen of Queens, it has been found," The scout bee professed, already trying to get rid of the memory of what he just saw.

"The gauntlet, it has been found." He said.
