Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 528: To Make The Unconscious Conscious
"Have you tried conquering yourself?" The fake Silax asked.
Kael didn’t answer immediately as he tried to wrap his head around that concept.
"My self?" He asked to be sure.
Silax nodded, "Yes, it sounds weird but the law of Conquering is about conquest and your ability to dominate over everything.
Everything, that includes you," Silax said.
"I still don’t understand it," Kael said, looking down as he went into deep thoughts, "No, I understand what you’re saying, I just don’t understand how it works."
"Well, if you don’t do it now, you’ll likely have to do it some other time. If you’re seeking power as fast as possible, I’d suggest that you try it..." Silax said.
"It’s not that, but how am I supposed to even do that. I have self-control, yes. However, some events in my life have made me instinctively resistant to any form of compliance or authority.
Even if I want to conquer myself, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be so willing," Kael said as he continued to think about it.
Silax’s eyes widened a little, "I think you misunderstood me.
I’m not asking you to submit to yourself, I’m asking that you conquer yourself.
If you conquer yourself, there is nothing to submit to as your perspective of how you view a lot of things will change."
"Hmmm," The eight tails behind Kael waved from left to right before falling to the ground to rest, curling around Kael’s sitting form to create a mysterious pattern.
"If I conquer myself, then who will be left? Who am I going to be?" Kael wondered.
"I don’t know," Silax admitted, "But I know that the goal of every Primordial is to embody their law as much as possible and not just be affiliated with it.
If my guess is correct, then once you conquer yourself, you should be closer to embodying the Law of Conquering in its essence.
You will be the Law itself if you succeed with this over time."
A look of understanding swept Kael’s face. "The horses," he said. "How can I fully embody the Law of Conquering when there are horses around?"
Silax’s face was then painted with regret, "I tried to wipe them out, I really tried. Genocide is not so easy on a cosmic scale.
But that’s something you’ll have to handle yourself. Conquering yourself should give you an edge.
At least, yours is a bit more direct despite its vagueness. Imagine what the Primordials of Gravity, Fire, Death, or Combat, have to go through for them to embody their law.
Most Primordials never get to even reach that stage as they don’t usually think of it like that. And with many creatures being affiliated with the same law, the competition is high.
I never even thought of embodying the law of Conquering until my last years, I don’t know about those who came before us.
They must have tried."
Kael nodded, "Even if they tried, did they have enough time to succeed?" He asked.
"Probably not," Silax answered.
"Well, you’re in a time bubble, it won’t hurt to try for as long as you can.
Conquer yourself, even if you don’t succeed, you should at least find a path to getting stronger," Silax stated.
"I’ll start now..." Kael said as he closed his eyes.
Shortly after, he opened his eyes, "Wait, how am I supposed to conquer myself? How does that even work?"
"Try focusing on your discipline. All those things that you can’t control, your thoughts, your vision, your instincts.
To embody is to conquer, to conquer is to embody, it all depends on how you want to see it." Silax lectured calmly.
"Hmm," Kael nodded.
Then he calmed down again and closed his eyes.
For the next few seconds, he didn’t open them.
Silax who was standing there smiled proudly, he watched Kael sink into a trance-like state.
Silax looked down, seeing that his paws were getting more transparent. Acceptance of his date dawned on him.
He wasn’t the real Silax, he was very much aware, but he might as well be the closest thing to Silax.
His sentience came from Kael’s soul and now that Kael was redirecting his focus somewhere else, Silax could not stay any longer.
But he remembered everything. He remembered the discussion he and Kael had and this was added to Kael’s memories, not his.
Till then, Silax closed his eyes and waited for the state of nonexistence to wash over him.
Soon, Silax’s body fully became transparent before finally fading away.
Kael was left all alone.
Whether Kael was aware that Silax was gone didn’t matter. He had discovered something incredible after entering this trance-like state.
’To conquer oneself...’ Kael thought to himself.
His mind settled down like the mud at the bottom of a serene lake. It became so clear that he could see through himself figuratively.
Using spirit powers, Kael was able to arrange all the aspects of his mind into an orderly structure that he observed with a keen eye.
At the center of all these aspects that formed who he was was his sense of self which sat at the center.
’I’ll start here,’ Kael thought as he immediately barraged his sense of self with the intent to conquer.
As expected, it wasn’t as understandable or as easy as it was meant to look.
Kael couldn’t conquer himself if he still thought of himself as himself. He had to take a step back and separate himself from himself and create a new definition of who he was.
In the physical world, Kael’s body shuddered and a warm golden glow covered him. The conqueror mode had already been deactivated.
His muscles moved and spasmed, his paws coiled against his will, his breathing ceased and raged without his permission.
His body was fighting against his mind. Or rather, his mind was fighting against his subconscious self.
’Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.’
Kael remembered a famous quote from a well-known philosopher from his past life. That quote resonated well with his current predicament.
At least, now he knew the way forward.
