Chapter 523: Chapter 523: Ultimatum To Immortality

"Do you see it as a compliment?" Exalon asked with a jesting expression.

"I don’t know," Katari said as she took a step back from Exalon, not out of fear but because she needed a bit of space to think and Exalon’s body projected an illusion of being big enough to occupy every area in her vision.

"Am I crazy?" She asked herself, turning away from the Exalon and the time bubble.

For the first time in her life, Katari was thinking deeply about herself. It wasn’t that she had never thought about herself before but she had never thought...deeply.

Her first thoughts always revolved around Kael, not her as it was currently.

Exalon raised one of his eyebrows, puzzled. He saw the expression Katari had just before she turned away from him, it was a look of bewilderment, something he had not seen since he met her.

"I’m crazy?

No, I’m crazy.

Yes, I’m crazy.

Crazy.

Hmm, am I still crazy?

I know that I’m crazy.

But how?"

Katari tilted her head, staring blankly at the horizon and the not-so-far continental edge.

Her eyes shifted constantly, changing between two miniature black holes and two regular cold eyes.

Slowly, those eyes no longer looked so cold and indifferent. There was a new light glowing softly in them.

Self-awareness.

Self-awareness that was so strong that Katari felt her chest tighten. Her heart beat fast and tears welled up at the edges of her eyes.

"Katari, are you okay?" Exalon asked, feeling that things may not be as funny as he thought.

He suddenly realised that he could not sense anything from Katari anymore.

At least, he could see her. But he knew that if he turned away, he would lose sight of her and wouldn’t be able to detect her presence even if she was to stand directly behind him.

This was a scary feeling because he was a Tier 6 War Lion king with one of the strongest senses in the whole heavenverse.

He couldn’t even perceive it, it also felt like her body refused to produce any sound no matter how hard she moved.

Katari didn’t move, didn’t shake, didn’t change stance. She just stood there, blending perfectly with her space and surroundings.

Exactly, that was exactly what Exalon felt was happening to Katari right now.

She was actually blending in perfectly with space.

"She’s becoming..." Exalon gasped, unable to comprehend the kind of talent needed to achieve what Katari was doing right now.

"She’s becoming One with the Void

This was unprecedented, the last time a tier five space lion had achieved such a thing was unrecorded, meaning it had happened a very long time ago.

Katari was lost at this point, becoming completely vulnerable to any attacks that could come her way.

But...

Exalon stretched out his hand to touch Katari’s shoulder. To his greatest shock, his hand went right through.

An organic body shouldn’t be capable of something like this, not even a vacuum-based entity like Katari should be able to do this.

Only spirit creatures were able to temporarily make their bodies intangible, but even they had a limit because they were still there.

Katari’s body on the other hand seemed to be slowly warping and twisting to the impossible. Space was literally warping around her.

That she was becoming one with the Void meant that her comprehension of herself and her abilities was reaching a higher level.

Her body and soul warped together with space.

I’m simple terms, Katari was subconsciously doing something that should technically only be possible with Warp Effect, something that only tier 6 lions should be capable of.

But if Katari was unknowingly using warp effect with her powers in this state of unwanted enlightenment, then...

"LEAVE HER!"

Memphis’s thundering voice echoed from behind Exalon.

Exalon turned around just in time to see Memphis speeding toward him from the side of the time bubble.

In no time, she was standing beside Exalon and staring squarely at Katari’s back.

"What do you want to do?" Exalon asked skeptically. It wasn’t strange that Memphis would arrive at this point.

Wherever she had been, she had probably realised that she could no longer sense Katari’s presence on the continent and had to come check what had happened.

It would be bad if anything happened to Katari while she was trying to prove to Kael that she was on his side.

"You can’t disturb her, this is rare," Memphis said with a very serious expression. Her green eyes shone with the power of time and her nostrils flared.

She tried to sniff into Katari’s past but discovered that it was becoming harder and more taxing.

"Where did he find her?" Memphis asked, not expecting a reply from anyone.

"That’s the same question I’ve been asking actually," Exalon exclaimed in frustration.

Kael seems to surround himself with extraordinary lionesses, they had noticed.

Even the recent addition, Alora, was an exceptional individual among lionesses of the same level and power type.

"She has to stay in a time bubble, isolated and in an environment where she will be able to maximise the benefits of this state," Memphis said, already taking action as she waved her arms.

Soon after, Exalon felt a strong pull on his body. His reaction was almost instantaneous and his natural instinctive action was to resist.

Visible cracks appeared in space as Exalon’s body bulged with masculine monstrosity.

The arkships flying above slowed down as they noticed the spectacular rise of Exalon’s aura.

"Stop," Memphis’s calm voice resounded in Exalon’s mind. It was only then that Exalon relaxed his body.

He was transported, or rather, pushed away by the new time bubble that erupted around Katari.

This was the same thing that happened with Kael and Ozia.

Exalon sighed, seeing the new time bubble standing next to Kael’s time bubble.

And all of a sudden, he was all alone. Just because of what he said to Katari. Who would have thought that a single phrase would trigger Katari like that?

If it was so easy, Exalon would go around waiting for someone to say something random and impactful to him to kick-start another evolution.

"They should all be done before the end of the day," Memphis said, appearing like a ghost beside Exalon.

Exalon did not flinch or turn his head to look at her. He was unfazed by Memphis’s mysterious use of her powers.

"Are you holding all these time bubbles on your own?" Exalon asked, his gaze lingering from one massive time bubble to the other.

"With a little bit of help from the continent and the runes one of my students helped me install, yes," Memphis answered truthfully.

"Do you want to join them?" Memphis asked with a mixed look of concern and curiosity.

"Will it be of any use?"

"Most likely not," Memphis answered truthfully, "But you could try, even though you’re old."

Exalon shrugged his shoulders, "Never mind, I require a specific type of training and you are not capable of giving that to me, even if you can add the weight of eons to the equation."

"Hmm, I suppose you are right. Reaching tier 7 is not something that would be easy," Memphis said.

Exalon sighed, "I can only keep on trying. Same with you, the immortal tier is not easy, I would assume."

Memphis nodded, "One hundred and twenty-five thousand years, I’ve been alive.

If I wasn’t a Time Lioness, I would have never been able to cheat death so many times and reach this level of power by not playing fair.

I have lived long beyond the natural lifespan of a tier 7 entity, yet I have not reached tier 8.

If I was any other lioness with a different power, I would long be dead with absolutely zero chances of even dreaming about the immortal tier.

It makes you wonder just how terrifying Noel and Ibadon had been during their time, or at least, Noel’s time.

The average tier 7 has an ultimatum of one hundred thousand years to reach tier 8. Most of us will fail...

Unfortunately.

I don’t want to die."

Hearing Memphis talking with him for much longer than usual, Exalon relaxed. It was not every day that he got to listen to an ancient being like Memphis.

There was a nuance between the two of them that needed to be cleared.

To the average mortal, Exalon was also a really old creature. He was a little over a thousand years old and his lifespan was expected to be ten thousand years.

He couldn’t even compare himself to Memphis, who was approximately one hundred and twenty times his age.

She looked much younger than Exalon and I’m a mortal human world, they might assume that Memphis was much younger than Exalon when it was the other way around.

Exalon was still a baby to her. Then there was Kael who was chronologically nine years old...for now.

The gap in experience was just too much, the Baptism of Time was necessary.

"Is that why you want to help Kael? Do you think he can help you reach the immortal tier?" Exalon asked.

Memphis blinked, surprised, "I was only helping him so that I could avoid trouble before it comes to me.

Can he do that?" Memphis asked with hope starting to rise within her mind.

The edges of Exalon’s mustache and lips curved upward slightly to reveal a faint smirk.
