Chapter 514: Chapter 514: Baptism Of Time

"So what’s it gonna be?" Kael asked with a questioning and suspicious gaze.

Memphis stood there, quiet and silent. It seemed like she didn’t really know what to say at this moment.

Her powers did not give her the ability to predict the future as the future as a law and concept were things that had yet to happen, so therefore could not be determined so easily.

Fortune lions had better chances of predicting the future than Time lions.

Memphis could never have predicted that Kael would react to her this way. She may have watched a bit of his past and knew a bit about his personality, but that was it.

If she had checked well, she would have understood that one could never really know the kind of things that would spur Kael to become unreasonably annoyed.

"It appears I may have angered you," Memphis said with a stoic expression, "But I do not see my offense, there’s no need for an apology from me."

Kael shrugged his shoulders, "Who gives a fuck.

I’m asking if you’re going to be on my side or on Ma’abu’s side.

Or do you want to be neutral?

Only one answer will prevent me from labelling you a sinner right here and right now."

Kael was beginning to raise his voice.

Exalon looked at Kael with worry but could also understand how he felt. To Kael, it was as if Memphis was seeing everything as some sort of past time or entertainment, not something to be taken seriously.

But to Kael, his life was at stake. Two different perspectives were clashing.

Kael, being just nine plus years in this world, and about forty from his last life, could not possibly understand the way Memphis saw the world.

Memphis would have a better time talking with the likes of Ibadon than with someone like Kael.

It wasn’t a matter of age, just perspective.

"You threaten me, Kael. Or, you’re making a promise.

Is that it?" Memphis asked not taking any offence.

"..." Kael did not say anything.

"I understand, I may have expected much from you when you are not quite there yet.

Even the Primordial has to undergo the Baptism of Time to understand...the world.

Kael, I’ll assist you.

You and Ma’abu were sooner or later going to bring trouble to my doors, I should take the wheels from here," Memphis said as she turned around.

All the insults Kael had thrown at her appeared not to have registered at all. And if it did, Memphis was not showing that she was bothered.

"You will?" Kael asked, frowning.

Memphis nodded, "Yes, if I support Ma’abu, I could still divert history. But the kind of victory that Ma’abu seeks is not something I would desire.

Although you are not a pure soul yourself, you’re still the better option."

Kael stared at Memphis in silence, trying to see if he could read through her expressions.

Memphis looked mildly amused with a slight hint of worry on her eyebrows. That was all Kael could garner from her face.

It was hard to tell if that was her genuine expression or if she was still wearing a mask of emotions.

"So, you really see yourself as a diversion?" Kael asked.

"Not just me," Memphis said, "My diversion will spread and multiple individuals will start diverting destiny and prevent history from repeating itself.

I’m merely going to act as the catalyst. If I succeed, even you will be a diversion and you will be able to do something other Primordials have never done before,"

Kael raised his eyebrows, "I like the sound of that.

How do you want to do this?"

Kael was a lot calmer now, Memphis and Exalon could see that.

His guard was still raised and Exalon could tell that Kael was ready to label Memphis as a sinner if anything was really wrong.

"I proposed to be your mentor but you refused earlier..."

"Nah, I refused because I probably wouldn’t have time," Kael said.

"Hmm, either way, I noticed someone who picked my interest on my way here," Memphis said.

"Who?"

"I believe you call him Ozia, he’s your son.

I can sense that there is a latent power of time brewing within him. It hasn’t been used or touched at all.

It would be good if he could receive ample mentorship that would mould him into a proper king.

I would like to assume that you don’t intend on keeping a triple-powered chimera as a mere Prince for the rest of his life," Memphis said.

"Ozia? Who knows?

Do you want to mentor him because he has time powers?" Kael asked.

"No, if I only had students with time powers I would have never offered to teach you anything," Memphis explained.

"Okay," Kael decided to walk back to his pillow sofa and sat down.

"Let’s say I agreed to be your student, how would you have mentored me?" He was curious.

Memphis looked up from the floor. She raised her hand slightly and her fingers flickered.

Kael and Exalon’s eyes widened, they could feel a terrifying pressure burst out from Memphis’s body.

But before they could do anything, they felt the terrifying aura disappear like it had never appeared.

"I would make you undergo the Baptism of Time first. That way, even though you do have time powers, you can understand the way Time lions and lionesses see the world.

It should give you an advantage and make it easier for me to interact with you," Memphis said.

"What did you just do now?" Kael asked with a narrowed gaze. He had felt something was wrong just now.

"Time distortion. Some lions have been spying on us so I paused them." Memphis said casually.

"You paused them?" Exalon asked.

"Yes,"

"What did you mean by Baptism of Time?" Kael asked, not caring about what Memphis had done to those lion kings who were eavesdropping.

He couldn’t care less and his attention was taken away by what Memphis was saying. Kael had a feeling that what Memphis was talking about could help him get stronger.

He had been inching infinitely close to the tier 6 power level. It was high time he had his next evolution and ascended closer to Apex status.

"With all the years under my sleeves, I can’t explain how it works in detail. You’d have to experience it for yourself.

Think of it like experiencing the passage of time without actually aging. It’s more complex than that but that’s the best way to explain it.

You could also say it’s the creation and destruction of timelines..."

"..."

"..."

"What?" Kael was confused.

"Will you participate in it? I’ll guide you through the process," Memphis said.

"Will it make me stronger?" Kael asked.

"That’s a very likely scenario. Ma’abu advanced from tier 4 to their 5 back then when he had his own baptism," Memphis said.

"Hmm,"

Suddenly, Exalon established a telepathic link with Kael, something that definitely caught Memphis’s attention but she didn’t care.

"All-King, I think it’s a good idea to let her teach you.

Even if we don’t pull her fully to our side immediately, we can start small.

It seems like she’s mostly taking action because she wants to avoid the trouble that would come her way.

It’s a selfish reason but we can still exploit it.

If other tier 7 lions start seeing her around you more often, they will think Memphis has joined your side irrespective of how she thinks.

By the time Memphis tries to explain, if she ever does, it would be too late and we would already have multiple tier 7s trapped in the benefits of our system features.

Hehehe, you could also gain a lot if you just play along..."

"I don’t have time for trickery, as long as it increases my strength, that’s why I’m even considering this right now," Kael replied telepathically while also keeping a stoic expression.

Memphis could detect the telepathic waves being transmitted between the two of them but ignored them all.

Her own senses were now focused on the little cub she had detected not too long ago.

The way her mind worked was so strange that even Ma’abu couldn’t fully understand it.

Through another discussion with Kael, I noticed did she seemed offended. Although, she did seem surprised at the wide vocabulary Kael had for slurs.

Also, Memphis could confirm that Kaeo was actually just nine years old. This shook her ancient heart greatly but she also chose to keep her emotions in check.

No one was worthy of moving her.

With very few being knowledgeable of the facts, schemes were woven under the fabric of reality by the different players of the grand universal game.

Each player wanted something quite different. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get it without eliminating the other.

All the fortune lions could detect it, there was great instability, and this time, there was nothing that could be done to stop it.

The universe had never truly been peaceful, but now, it was about to get a whole lot more chaotic. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

This time, they were sure, peace was very far away from the lion civilization. And it wouldn’t be recovered unless one player was eliminated permanently.
