Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 94: Louis Jiang (2)
One billion was a lot of money for an eighteen-year-old girl like Adrienne. Even in her previous life, she had never experienced nor knew she had that kind of money. How come she never knew she had a trust fund before marrying Alistair Han?
As she thought about it, Adrienne remembered hearing the news that Uncle Zhang was involved in a nasty plane accident that killed one-hundred-twenty people just months after she turned eighteen. She never had the chance to visit his funeral because she was already out on the streets, trying to earn a living.
"Why are you surprised? This one billion was accumulated over the years. However, you won’t be able to access it until your twenty-first birthday. Since you’ve already turned eighteen, you’ll receive a quarter of the amount and the Jiang Corporation shares." Uncle Zhang explained. Rosemary Zhao was a competent businesswoman, so it’s no wonder she could accumulate such wealth for her daughter.
"You’ll receive more than your brother though. Currently, his trust fund has amassed more than 200 million. I’ve tried to convince your mother several times to close the trust fund and focus on yours, but she insisted on keeping it despite your brother being dead for a long time."
"He’s not dead, Uncle." Adrienne said in a low voice. "My brother is missing."
It was Uncle Zhang’s turn to be taken aback after hearing Adrienne’s words.
"A-are you sure?"
"It was my Uncle Reese who discovered this. We suspect he was switched or taken away after his birth. Uncle Reese is still verifying the information of his whereabouts. We’re still not sure whether he’s alive or not."
"Then I hope he lives, Addie. You and your mother have suffered enough." The old man gently gazed at Adrienne. "If he’s alive, I hope he could be someone you can rely on. You’ve been on your own since your father remarried. This old man fears that they will target you next."
Adrienne seemed to have some insight into his thoughts and gently shook her head.
"It’s nothing I can’t deal with, Uncle. But you, shouldn’t you be spending more time with your family? I heard your daughter has recently given birth to your first grandson. Uncle Zhang should spend more time at home with your family than working like there’s no tomorrow."
Uncle Zhang’s expression improved at once. Obviously, he was a proud grandpa and couldn’t wait to spend time with his family. Thinking about it, perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to cancel his prior appointments to meet his grandson.
"Addie, if anything is to happen, you know you can call me, right? Since you’ve embarrassed your father and mistress like this, you must be careful with who you speak and deal with. I can arrange for someone to deposit the 250 million in your account today and process the transfer of the Jiang Corporation shares under your name. Don’t hand over these shares your mother had secured for years, no matter what your father tells you. While it’s true that the Jiang family owned most of the company, your mother’s hard work made it flourish."
Adrienne smiled. She bore extreme hatred towards the Jiang family, one that could not allow the other to live under the same sky.
"I’ll keep your word in mind, Uncle. As for the news about my brother, please keep it a secret. I don’t want to startle the snakes before we get the answers." Adrienne replied. She was satisfied with her meeting with her mother’s lawyer. If her brother had really perished, she would have no choice but to take the secret to her grave and not inform her mother.
Once they left the law firm, Uncle Mo called Adrienne to inform her she was being summoned to the Zhao estate. Adrienne could only sigh and rub her temple as Hunter drove them towards their destination. Her mother had recently been transferred to another hospital, so she had spent a lot of time with her after school.
Thankfully, she had Hunter by her side who could drive her anywhere and anytime she wished to. Adrienne had expected to meet her maternal grandfather again and was prepared for it.
"If you’re not feeling well, perhaps we could ask them to meet another time?" She heard Hunter ask.
Hunter could see her dozing off in the backseat and the unconcealable growing black color of fatigue below her eyes. These days Adrienne couldn’t even get a wink of sleep.
"No, it’s fine. The sooner we meet them, the better. I would like to know what my grandfather has in mind."
Adrienne already knew she had Uncle Reese’s cooperation, but she was still uncertain if her grandfather would act according to her expectations. By now, he should have found the person he’d been looking for. If Adrienne couldn’t use her mother to make her grandfather submit, she had another way to lure him to her side.
After an hour of traveling, Adrienne and Hunter reached the Zhao estate. It was Hunter’s first time seeing the place, and he marveled at its beauty.
They had just alighted the car when hurried steps could be heard from the front door of the estate. Contrary to Adrienne’s first visit, Old Madam Zhao, who was stricken with illness, had regained some colors in her face. The old woman smiled widely when she saw Adrienne and Hunter together. Suddenly, she threw her arms around Hunter, much to everyone’s surprise. Hunter could only freeze and allow Old Madam Zhao to hug him.
"Addie! Why didn’t you tell this old woman? If I hadn’t overheard your grandfather talking to your Uncle Reese, I wouldn’t have known your brother had been missing?! Is this why you kept your silence before?" Old Madam Zhao shed a few tears before cupping Hunter’s face with both hands. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"But I’ll forgive you now since you’ve found your brother and brought him with you today."
Adrienne was stunned and could only look at her bodyguard in shock. What the hell was her grandmother talking about?
