Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 79: You Belong To Me (1)
Camilla looked extremely embarrassed and furious. She wished she could bury herself underground to avoid all of it, but she was forced to watch in horror as a loan shark threatened her son. The colors of her face came and went, but she knew she had to do something to help Cayden. She’d already asked Adrienne for help, but she never thought the little bitch would deny her.
She clung to her husband and sought his help this time. Who knew this banquet would turn out like this?
"Dear, he is our flesh and blood, are you really not going to do anything? Please save him just this once!" She begged him helplessly.
Lewis Jiang pursed his lips and lowered his head as he looked at his wife. Camilla’s hair had become messier and her cheeks that used to blush prettily were now dripping with tears. He couldn’t help but feel his heart ache. After all, Camilla was his beloved woman. He helped her back to her feet and held her close.
"It’s not that I do not wish to help him, but 12 million is a big amount of money that would need time to be prepared." He called Steward Zheng and asked him to get the money immediately.
He then eyed the unwanted loan shark, whose hands were still on Cayden’s throat. "Give us at least an hour to prepare the money! Cayden isn’t going anywhere."
Uncle Shark dropped Cayden on the floor and scoffed. He went back to his previous seat, looking smug and impatient.
"One hour. No more, no less." He told them. He then eyed Adrienne and gave her a knowing look.
Adrienne sighed and took a seat, asking a passing waiter to give her a drink. Hunter took the bottle of wine from the waiter and poured a drink for his miss instead. He won’t give anyone a chance to spike Adrienne’s drink tonight.
"Grandpa should return to the banquet hall and let Father deal with this problem. The guests might notice something is off if the celebrant is nowhere to be seen." Adrienne commented, earning everyone’s attention.
"Addie is right, old man. Let’s go back to the banquet hall. You don’t need to involve yourself in this." Old Madam Jiang said, leading her husband away this time.
Lewis glanced at Adrienne. The girl before his eyes was tall, slim and graceful, and upon observing Adrienne, he thought she looked a lot like Rosemary Zhao when she was younger. He was absent-minded for a moment, however, he was forced back to reality when Cayden coughed wildly as he tried to take in deep breaths.
He was reminded of his anger towards his son. How could Cayden mess up like this? Everyone knew he was attending law school, but now it would be disclosed that he cheated his way in and ended up miserable as they denied him entry. He was really itching to beat his son and teach him a lesson.
Adrienne decided to see this to the end. She had already successfully destroyed Camilla’s reputation in public by inviting her elderly parents to come here, and it was now Cayden’s turn. She knew Cayden was their father’s pride, but now he would be nothing but an embarrassment to the rest of the family.
This wasn’t enough to quell her anger and hatred against the Jiang family. She hadn’t forgotten yet how Cayden bribed the nurse to keep her mother in a coma which eventually led to Rosemary’s death in her previous life.
"You should also go back to the banquet hall, Addie. Help your grandpa and make sure no other problems would arise during our absence." Lewis told her.
Adrienne stood up and took the hand Hunter offered to her. "Alright, but I cannot guarantee that the guests haven’t caught wind of this already."
She and Hunter left the study and Adrienne smirked in amusement. "Have they talked about it already? What is the situation now?" She asked Hunter.
While she was busy tending to the elderly couple earlier, Hunter had taken the chance to allow Uncle Shark to enter the banquet hall. The man demanded to see Cayden Jiang at once. Hunter then understood Adrienne’s intention when she gave Uncle Shark an invitation to this banquet.
"Most were speculating why a notorious loan shark was after Cayden Jiang. It’s only a matter of time before they discover the answer to their questions." He eyed his miss, thinking Adrienne was very thorough with her revenge and Hunter knew she was just starting. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
As they returned to the banquet hall, people were immediately drawn towards Adrienne. Some young men asked Adrienne to dance but she politely declined each one of them. She reunited with Myrtle and it didn’t take long before Valerie Xia showed up and joined the two of them.
"Classmate Xia, I didn’t know you were also invited." Adrienne smiled at her deskmate.
Valeria Xia frowned. "I wasn’t planning to attend, but my elder brother insisted I should accompany him. So... I heard your elder brother got in trouble with a loan shark. Everyone’s talking about it."
Adrienne smiled faintly. "It seems my brother has caused a huge problem. Father is cleaning up his mess as we speak."
"I doubt your brother would change his ways after this. Though the party looked spectacular, the guests kept talking about how unfilial your stepmother was, and now it’s your brother’s turn."
"As long as it doesn’t concern me, it doesn’t really matter." Adrienne commented.
"You should have seen how Ayla’s face contorted in anger earlier when you first entered the banquet hall. She looked as if she’d seen a ghost." Myrtle grinned mischievously.
"I saw that too," Valerie burst into laughter beside Myrtle. "It was a sight to behold. I never knew Ayla Jiang was capable of making such a face. I thought she only knew how to look pitiful in front of others."
"You are enjoying this way too much." Adrienne laughed. "I have no doubt she’ll hold it against me."
