Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 66: I Don’t Like You (2)
Adrienne was obviously in a good mood. After her morning session at the gym, she attended school while sending Hunter to the hospital where her mother and Lennox were confined. After her classes, she asked Uncle Mo to bring her to the hospital and checked on her mother. She found Hunter wiping her mother’s arms with a clean, wet cloth.
Rosemary’s complexion was getting better. Before, she was so pale, making Adrienne worry. The change in her mother’s complexion was drastic ever since that nurse had stopped visiting.
"You must be bored looking after her the entire day." She told Hunter.
"Not really." Hunter replied. "I used to look after my mother when she was alive. It’s not worth mentioning."
Adrienne thought he was too polite and rigid. She wondered if the day would come that he would find her trustworthy. She wanted to ask him what caused the bad blood between him and Camilla, but didn’t dare to probe.
She rummages through her bag for something before handing Hunter a small thin box.
"Here. Take this. I heard from Uncle Reese that you love reading books. I got you an e-reader to relieve some boredom while you’re here."
Hunter stared at the small box for a moment before muttering a quick thanks. He probably didn’t expect Adrienne would pay attention to his interests.
"Anyway, I’ll go to the opposite room to ask for a tutor. I’ll be back in two hours." Adrienne said, purposely not mentioning Lennox’s identity. She didn’t think Hunter should get too involved in her business.
Adrienne knocked and entered Lennox’s hospital room. He was seated in front of the small table, glaring at the tray of food before him. She didn’t need to ask why he sported such a foul expression.
"No matter how much you glare at it, hospital food would never taste better."
That effectively pulled Lennox’s attention to her. His caretaker took the tray and excused herself. She knew that whenever Lennox had visitors, she needed to give them some privacy. Lennox would give her a call if he needed something anyway.
"Ah, finally. Sunshine to my cloudy day. You sure took your sweet time visiting me, Addie."
Adrienne took a seat across from him and raised a brow.
"Addie? Since when did we become so close that you call me by my nickname?"
Lennox shrugged, as if it was only natural that he regarded her as such.
"What brings you here then? Do you already have progress on finding Noah Qin?"
"No, not yet. I have to deal with some pesky insects at home first." She answered, taking out her notebooks and textbooks from her bag. "Since you complain about being bored here, why don’t you help me with my homework then?"
Lennox laughed at her. "Dear Addie, I graduated high school a long time ago. I’m afraid I can’t be of any help."
"Nonsense. You’re smart. You should be able to help me with Mathematics."
"Or you can just hire a tutor. Didn’t you receive your first payment?" Lennox countered.
"I can’t." Adrienne shook her head. "I just employed two bodyguards, so you can ask your man to fuck off from my home."
"Language, Addie." Lennox’s voice was considerably low.
"Sorry." She muttered a quick apology. "So are you going to help me or not?"
Lennox smiled this time. "Anything for my beautiful fiancée."
He tutored Adrienne for the next hour until they were forced to stop when a nurse came to bring Lennox for his scheduled CT-Scan. However, before leaving, he gave Adrienne a few problems for her to solve during his absence.
"I’ll check your answers as soon as I return. Don’t even think you can cheat, Addie."
Adrienne harrumphed, but said nothing. She was able to answer the problems in forty-five minutes. Lennox had yet to return so she decided to take a power nap while waiting for him.
This was the scene that greeted Lennox upon his return. He quietly took his previous spot and rested his head opposite Adrienne’s. In her sleep, Adrienne looked calm and serene, the opposite of the usual cold arrogance she sported when she was awake.
He had never met a person like her before. Adrienne Jiang was an enigma to him. However, after finding out the miserable thing she experienced in her own family, he understood why she was forced to harden her heart like this. She refused to accept help from others and every move she made went through serious deliberations.
He extended his arm and gently pushed the hair covering her face. Adrienne was a damsel in distress, but she would rather save herself than wait for a knight to do it. The more he thought of the grievances she suffered, the more he hated the Jiang family, despite not meeting them yet. He didn’t think he could keep his composure once he met them.
"I hope someday, you’ll find the happiness you deserve."
As he said these, the door of his room suddenly slid open, revealing Hunter Nian. The man was glowering at Lennox.
"What do you think you’re doing?" He questioned Lennox. Hunter’s penetrating stare was silently accusing Lennox of indecency.
Lennox pulled himself up and chuckled coldly at the intruder. How dare he ruin this rare moment with Adrienne?!
As he looked at the man before him, Lennox surmised that this was one of the bodyguards Adrienne recently employed. Did she not know how to train her bodyguards? If this person was under his employment, he would fire him on the spot!
"I should be the one asking you that."
The two men regarded each other in cold fury, both unwilling to break the silence. However, in the end, Hunter was the one who broke the silence. He couldn’t stand seeing Adrienne being alone with this person.
"I don’t like you. Stay away from Miss Addie."
Lennox smiled, revealing his perfect set of teeth. His eyes showed an annoyed look.
"What a coincidence, Mister. The feeling is mutual."
