Chapter 396: Unfilial Child (1)

In the end, Lennox decided to continue the project, not for the sake and legacy of Richard Qin but for himself. The project might have seemed impossible five years ago, but Lennox had developed his skills over time, making the once-impossible project within his reach.

However, the delay in the project also gave their competitors a chance to shorten the gap between them and Qin Motors. Lennox faced a new challenge as he faced a fiercely competitive market. The delay had allowed other companies to catch up and innovate, raising the stakes for Qin Motors.

Lennox knew that he had to push harder, think outside the box, and bring his A-game to the table to maintain their position as an industry leader. The pressure was on, but he was determined to prove that Qin Motors was still the driving force of innovation in the automotive world.

Meanwhile, Adrienne was busy with Purple Cloud. As her shoe brand gained popularity, Adrienne faced expanding her business and keeping up with the increasing demand. She knew that to stay ahead of the competition, she had to continuously develop unique designs and maintain high-quality standards.

While the couple was busy with their lives, Lewis Jiang had a hard time since Jiang Corporation went bankrupt. He struggled to find a new job in the competitive market and faced financial difficulties.

He had to downsize his lifestyle and sell some of their family’s properties to make ends meet. With his wife and son convicted of a crime they committed, Lewis Jiang’s situation became even more dire. It was hard for him to get an opportunity to get business deals and partners as people had lost trust in him and his family due to the criminal conviction.

Despite his best efforts to prove his innocence and distance himself from the situation, the stigma surrounding his family’s name hindered his professional prospects. This added layer of adversity made it even more challenging for Lewis Jiang to rebuild his reputation and regain the trust of potential business partners.

"Is this all we have for dinner?" His daughter, Elise, scowled as she looked at the meager meal on the table.

The financial downfall resulting from their recent family scandal had forced them to tighten their belts and make sacrifices, leaving little room for extravagant meals. Elise was used to living in luxury and comfort, but now that they had lost their fortune, she had to adjust to a more frugal lifestyle.

As Lewis glanced at his daughter’s disappointed face, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. He had always provided for her without a second thought, but now he struggled even to put food on the table.

"We have to consider our food expenses, Elise, and it’s not like you finish all of your food. You always have something left over." His mother added, hoping to ease the tension.

Since Lewis’s father’s death, everything has gone south for their family. Their ancestral estate was sold to pay off their massive debts, and they were forced to downsize to a small manor. He had no choice but to take in his elderly mother to live with them, as she had no one to rely on anymore.

Lewis had taken on multiple jobs to make ends meet, but it still wasn’t enough. The frugal lifestyle was a stark contrast to the lavish one they had once known, and it was taking a toll on both Lewis and Elise.

His brother, Alfred, wasn’t faring well either. Because of his gambling addiction, his family had to rely on his eldest son’s meager income to survive. Their financial situation was straining their relationships and causing tension within the family.

"Why do I need to adjust? We used to have everything we wanted," Elise lamented, her voice filled with frustration. "It’s unfair that we must suffer because of Mom and Cayden’s mistakes."

"Don’t speak about your mother like that." Lewis gave her a stern look. "She did everything for your sake."

"For my sake?" Elise scoffed. "Or for her personal gain? Even Addie has a better life than me. That bitch has everything while I have nothing! We are both your daughters, but how come she’s the one who gets all the privileges? She even has a husband who spoils her rotten!" Elise’s voice cracked with bitterness as she struggled to hold back tears.

Lewis sighed, his face softening with understanding.

"It may seem that way, but your mother has her reasons. We all make mistakes, and it’s important to remember that we’re a family. As for Adrienne, you do not need to compare yourself to that woman. She’s not my daughter, and it won’t take long before Lennox Qin realizes he made a mistake when he took her as his wife."

Lewis didn’t say he’d tried to seek his eldest daughter’s help after the downfall of the Jiang Corporation. He sent several messages to Adrienne but didn’t receive a response from her. It seemed to him that she had decided to cut off all the ties they had with each other and didn’t regard him as her father anymore.

’What an unfilial child.’ He thought.

His pride also took a hit when, in a recent esports event, it was revealed that Adrienne owned the most popular local shoe brand, Purple Cloud. Adrienne was sponsoring the team Lennox’s brother was ion

This revelation only fueled his hatred, which had already begun to fester within him. How could his own flesh and blood not only turn her back on him but also achieve such success without his knowledge or support?

The bitterness grew with each passing day, hating Adrienne more than he already had. He truly believed that she was the harbinger of calamity in his life, and the only way for it to get better was to get rid of her.

The downfall of the Jiang Corporation had left him with limited resources and a tarnished reputation, but he refused to let it be the end of his story.
