Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 395: Enjoy Your Stay in Hell (2)
"I’m so sorry, Len. I have no idea our meeting with him would turn out like this." Adrienne clenched her fist on her lap and lowered her head in shame as they drove back home after meeting Harvey Qin.
The limousine gave them the necessary privacy and allowed them to process the unexpected events in silence. Adrienne’s mind raced with regret as she replayed their conversation with Harvey over and over again, searching for any signs of warning that they had missed.
When Carlos Cheng told her Harvey Qin wanted to meet her and Lennox, she should have considered the potential consequences more carefully. Alas, how was she supposed to know that Harvey Qin would use this opportunity to reveal himself as Lennox’s real father?
Lennox glanced at his wife and sighed. He moved closer and pulled her into his lap before burying his face in her hair.
"It’s not your fault, Addie," he whispered softly. "We couldn’t have predicted what Harvey Qin would tell us."
"But do you think he’s telling the truth? That he’s your real...." Adrienne stopped herself midway and bit her lip.
"Wouldn’t that make me the cousin of Richard’s children instead?" Lennox said dejectedly. "How could I tell them I’m not their real brother?"
Adrienne forced him to look at her by grabbing the side of his face.
"No, Lennox. It won’t change anything between you and your siblings. You are their big brother, whether Richard Qin’s son or not. They see you as their big brother because of what you have done for them and the bond you have built. Your love and support for them is what truly matters, not your biological connection. Trust me, Lennox, they will always see you as their brother."
Lennox looked at her face and smiled weakly.
"You always know how to make me feel better, Addie," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you for reminding me of what truly matters and always being there. What would I do without you? You always know how to bring me back to reality and remind me of what truly matters. This world is cruel, but you are my anchor."
Adrienne wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a kiss. As they embraced, Lennox felt a sense of comfort and reassurance wash over him. He responded to her kiss, tracing circles on her back as they lost themselves in the moment. A strong sense of love and belonging replaced the weight of his worries, which appeared to fade away.
When they parted, Lennox pressed his forehead against hers and smiled.
"I don’t know how, but you always make everything seem a little brighter. Thank you, Addie."
"Well, I’m glad I could help." Adrienne chuckled, her voice infused with a playful tone. "But seriously, Len, you’ve always been there for me too. It’s a two-way street, you know?"
She paused for a moment and considered her next questions. After hearing what Richard Qin had done to Lennox and his mother, she lost all her respect and sympathy for him. In fact, it only gave her more reasons to hate him even more.
’I hope you enjoy your stay in hell, Richard Qin.’ She thought to herself, her anger simmering beneath the surface.
"What do you want to do now? Will you still complete the project after knowing Richard Qin has always deceived you and tried to steal your work? Or do you think it’s time to move on and return to Huayi instead?" She asked, pointing out the obvious problem Lennox had at the moment.
He initially intended to complete the project to honor Richard Qin’s legacy, but after finding out the truth, Lennox felt conflicted.
Lennox paused, taking a deep breath, before responding. It made sense to him now why Richard Qin refused to have a bond with him as his son. He only took notice of him when he started showing promising talent during his teenage years.
Richard Qin saw an opportunity to profit from Lennox’s ideas and claim them as his own when he began developing the idea of AI-operated cars that run on electricity instead of conventional fuel sources.
Richard convinced him to make his dream possible by presenting it to his grandfather. However, he warned Lennox that the board might not take Lennox’s idea seriously due to his age and lack of experience.
Lennox believed at the time that his father was supporting his dream, not realizing that the man he believed to be his father was actually manipulating him. For the first time, he thought Richard was showing care and concern for him.
"Honestly, Addie, I’m still processing everything. It’s a lot to take in, and I need time to consider my next move. But one thing’s certain: I won’t let Richard Qin’s actions define my future. Whether I continue with the project or return to Huayi, it will be my decision, not his manipulation."
Richard Qin was already dead, but Lennox felt he was still under his influence.
Adrienne nodded, understanding the weight of Lennox’s decision. "Whatever you decide, I’ll support you. I believe in you and your talent, Len. You have so much potential, with or without this project."
Lennox smiled at her, grateful for her unwavering support. "Thank you, Addie. I’m so lucky to have you in my life."
As they drove home, Lennox’s mind raced with possibilities. He knew he needed to take control of his life and his future, no matter what had happened in the past. He couldn’t let Richard Qin’s manipulation hold him back any longer.
Noah and his two sisters greeted them as they entered their home. The three of them had a wide smile as they welcomed him and Adrienne home. It was right then that Lennox understood that his wife was right. It didn’t matter if he was Richard Qin’s son; these children were his siblings, and he intended to be the best brother he could be for them.
Richard Qin abandoned his children from his mistresses, but Lennox would never abandon them.
