Chapter 379: Joining Huayi (1)

Despite Lennox’s suggestion to move his siblings to a new school in Jinling, Adrienne decided to return to Chiangshi in a few days. It wasn’t because she was against her husband’s idea but because she felt his siblings would need to adjust again in a new school with new classmates. Adrienne didn’t want them to lose friends they already had and disrupt their academic progress.

Lennox allowed them to return home, but he couldn’t help but worry about her. However, he didn’t want to stop Adrienne from doing what she wanted and confine her at home, as Alistair did to her in the past.

He wanted to return home with them, but his hectic schedule at the company forbade him to do so. He also didn’t want to inconvenience his siblings by transferring schools, and he agreed with Adrienne’s point that they would lose contact with the friends they already had at their current school.

Gavin and Kristoff visited them, as they needed to discuss Kristoff joining Huayi to help Gavin manage the company while Lennox was at Qin Motors. Adrienne thought it was time for them to talk seriously about their plans.

The opulent furnishings and breathtaking city skyline views impressed Kristoff as he looked around Adrienne’s penthouse. He expected that for a socialite like Adrienne, she would have an extravagant and luxurious living space. However, he was pleasantly surprised to see that her penthouse had a tasteful and elegant design, reflecting her refined taste.

The sleek and modern furniture blended seamlessly with the stunning cityscape, creating a sophisticated ambiance that perfectly matched Adrienne’s personality. Kristoff couldn’t help but admire how Adrienne effortlessly combined opulence with sophistication in her living space.

Lennox’s sisters were busy playing a game in the living room while Noah was seated on Lennox’s lap, playing a game of chess against Gavin. Noah had a serious look on his face as he looked at the board before him.

"He’s still young, but you and Lennox are already teaching him this," Kristoff told Adrienne. They watched the trio from the balcony, the afternoon sun casting a warm glow on their faces.

Adrienne smiled proudly and replied, "Yes, we believe in nurturing his intellect from a young age. It’s amazing to see how quickly he grasps complex strategies."

Noah made a bold move on the chessboard as she spoke, surprising both Lennox and Gavin.

"And we think he likes it, but not as much as his paintings," Adrienne added.

The young boy was into painting these days, and Adrienne helped him pick up the things he would need for his studio at home.

Kristoff sighed and commented, "Kids these days are lucky. I have no time to pursue any hobbies or sports I liked when I was younger."

Adrienne raised a brow in question. She dared not comment, as she knew nothing about Kristoff except what Lennox and Gavin mentioned.

Kristoff merely shrugged and said, "I’m not as privileged as your husband and Gavin. My family didn’t have the means to support extracurricular activities or hobbies. We had to focus on survival and making ends meet."

Adrienne nodded in understanding, realizing that everyone’s circumstances were different.

"I could attend the school Lennox and Gavin attended because of the scholarship. Heck, I have to exert effort to study as much as I can just to keep up with them," Kristoff added with a hint of determination in his voice. "But hey, I may not have the same opportunities, but I believe hard work and perseverance can take me just as far."

"I’m glad you and Lennox got along well," Adrienne commented.

"Yeah, Lennox had been really supportive and helpful throughout my time at school," Kristoff replied. "We both understand the importance of education and push each other to excel. He and Gavin treated me well while other students mocked me for being poor."

Kristoff was a ladies’ man during college, but college felt like a nightmare. Most of his wealthy schoolmates looked down on him and viewed him as a charity case, but not Lennox and Gavin. He remembered wearing worn and ill-fitting hand-me-down clothes because he couldn’t afford to buy new ones.

Despite the challenges, Kristoff remained determined to succeed academically and prove his worth. He has already made a name for himself in the industry. Lennox and Gavin’s friendship provided him with the support and encouragement he needed to overcome the obstacles he faced at school.

"Lennox didn’t want this to be taken as a big deal, but I owe him a great deal," Kristoff continued. "During our senior year, my sister fell extremely sick, and my parents couldn’t afford to send her to the hospital to get treated. The only way for me to help her is to drop out of school and work full-time. But Lennox and Gavin stepped in and offered to help financially, allowing me to continue my education while caring for my sister. Their selflessness and friendship truly saved my and my sister’s lives."

Adrienne looked at him, surprised that her husband would do such a thing to others. It made her look at Lennox and Gavin in a whole new light. She realized their kindness and generosity went beyond helping their friends and extending to anyone in need.

"Of course, I paid them what I owed, but saving my sister’s life was something that I could never repay. It was why I easily agreed when Lennox asked me a favor and accepted Jiang Corporation’s offer to become their CEO. Lennox told me I don’t need to do anything, as you intend to play with the Jiang family before ruining them." He continued.

"I’m sorry you had to deal with my father’s unfair demands." Adrienne replied, "It must have been hard for you to keep the Jiang Corporation afloat."

"It was definitely a challenging task, but I was determined to honor my promise to Lennox and not get in your way for revenge. The Jiang family was blindsided, not seeing your worth, Miss Jiang. They underestimated your capabilities and the potential threat you posed to their empire."

"Their empire flourished because of my mother’s help. Without her, the Jiang Corporation should have been long gone." Adrienne pointed out as if the ruination of the Jiang family had nothing to do with her.
