Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 362: A Daughter Who Looks Like You (2)
After his three brothers’ departure, Lennox was still a little under the weather, wondering if they would be fine on their own. The years they stayed under his care were short, but it was enough for Lennox to grow fond of them. He had taken on the role of a guardian, ensuring their well-being and guiding them for the past few years.
As they embarked on their journeys in life, Lennox couldn’t help but feel a mix of pride and concern, hoping his brothers would remember the lessons he had imparted and thrive independently.
"I feel like an old man, Addie," Lennox muttered as he rested his head on Adrienne’s legs as he lay in their bed. "I’m just in my early thirties, but I feel like watching my children grow up and leave the nest."
Adrienne chuckled and ran her fingers through Lennox’s hair, offering him comfort. "It’s natural to feel that way, love. You’ve done an amazing job taking care of them, and now it’s time for them to spread their wings and find their own path in life."
Lennox looked up to his wife and asked, "You think so? I think they think highly of you instead of me."
Adrienne smiled warmly at Lennox and gently reassured him, "Oh, darling, that’s not true. Your siblings love and respect both of us equally. They just have a different bond with each of us, but they appreciate everything you’ve done for them just as much as they appreciate me."
Her husband sighed, finding comfort in her words. "I guess you’re right," he murmured. "It’s just hard sometimes, feeling like I’m not doing enough for them."
Adrienne wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly. "You are an amazing brother," she whispered. "Your siblings are lucky to have you, and they will always cherish the love and support you give them."
She couldn’t help but smile, seeing that her husband had changed so much and for the better compared to the first time she met him years ago. Lennox was more compassionate now and had developed a deep sense of responsibility towards his family. His dedication to his siblings was evident in his words and actions, and Adrienne admired him for it. She knew that with Lennox by their side, his siblings would always have someone they could rely on and look up to.
"If you are having a hard time letting them go now, I have no doubt it would be worse if it were our child."
That immediately caught Lennox’s attention. He sat up and looked at Adrienne with a mix of surprise and concern.
"Damn, Addie. You surely knew how to drive me insane." He sighed before drawing his wife into his arms, resting his chin lovingly on her shoulder. "I might try to convince them to leave our home when that time comes."
Adriene chuckled, knowing that Lennox’s protective nature would always come through. "I know you would, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. We’ve raised them to be strong and independent like us."
"I want a daughter who looks like you, Addie. Someone who has your strength and resilience, I want her to inherit your beautiful smile and kind heart."
"What if I give you a son instead? Won’t having a son who looks like you and Noah is better?" She teased playfully.
"Then we keep trying until we get one," he said, making Adrienne laugh. "It’s not like we can’t afford to have more children. I would love them regardless because they are ours."
"It isn’t the financial aspect that concerns me," Adrienne replied thoughtfully. "I don’t think I can pop out babies indefinitely. Pregnancy and childbirth take a toll on a woman’s body, and I want to make sure I can give each child the love and attention they deserve."
Lennox understood, and his face suddenly turned pale as he realized that childbirth could put his wife in intense pain and potentially even endanger her life. He couldn’t bear the thought of seeing Adrienne suffer or risking her well-being for the sake of having more children.
"I never thought about that," Lennox said, his voice laced with worry. "I don’t want to put you through any unnecessary pain or danger. Maybe we should just focus on the child we would have and give the best life possible."
Adrienne smiled softly and cupped Lennox’s cheek. "That’s all I want, darling. To have a happy family with you. We have so much love to give. I would never allow them to grow up feeling alone and unwanted."
It was important for Adrienne to know that Lennox would be active and involved with their child or children in the future. She didn’t want them to experience being unwanted, just as her father treated her when she was younger. Adrienne wanted to break the cycle of neglect and give their future children every opportunity to thrive.
Lennox nodded, his eyes filled with determination.
"I know that I might need to wait for some time before we can start a family of our own, Addie, but I promise to always be there for them," he said firmly. "I will be the father they deserve to have and give them all the love and support they need."
Adrienne leaned in and kissed Lennox gently on the lips. "I know you will," she whispered against his mouth. "You are already an amazing father figure to your siblings, and I do not doubt that you will be an even better father to our children."
Lennox pulled her close, feeling grateful for the love and support she had given him over the years. He couldn’t imagine his life without her. She was the best thing that ever happened to him, and he loved her more than anything. For now, he was content with just being with her and savoring the moment. He leaned in, giving Adrienne a deep and passionate kiss, feeling grateful for all they had and all that was yet to come.
