Unlike Adrienne, who was enjoying her time with her family at her wedding, Ayla was reduced to nothing in just two weeks. Her endorsements as well as her projects were immediately pulled out and cancelled as soon as the news of her affair and false accusations against her cousin spread around.

Even her followers on social media turned against her, leaving her with a dwindling support base. Ayla’s reputation took a severe hit, and she found herself isolated and struggling to rebuild her career and personal life.

The Han family’s treatment of her became cold. Old Madam Han refused to acknowledge her presence, and Ayla was no longer invited to family gatherings or events. The once warm and welcoming atmosphere had turned icy, leaving Ayla feeling like an outsider in her family. She desperately tried apologizing and making amends, but her efforts were met with indifference and disdain.

Ayla realized that regaining their trust would be an uphill battle, and she would have to prove herself worthy of forgiveness if she ever wanted a chance at redemption. But the worst thing was how Alistair treated her after hearing her deception.

Alistair’s anger towards Ayla seemed to intensify as he became cold and distant. He no longer spoke to or acknowledged her presence, making her feel even more isolated and rejected. He didn’t seem to plan on divorcing her. Instead, he chose to confine her at home, refusing to allow her mother to see her.

Ayla hadn’t seen her mother for over two weeks, and she didn’t have any way to contact her as Alistair took away her phone or any communication devices in their home. She was constantly under surveillance and was accompanied by a bodyguard.

Ayla laughed to herself and thought that she was no different from a prisoner. Even the housekeepers and cleaners were giving her suspicious looks as if they knew something she didn’t. Ayla’s only solace was the small window in her bedroom, through which she would gaze longingly at the outside world, yearning for freedom.

One afternoon, she overheard the maids speaking in hush tones about their boss. It seemed Alistair had returned home last night in a foul mood and had fired one of the maids for a minor mistake. It didn’t take long before Ayla knew the reason for her husband’s bad temper: Adrienne and Lennox held an intimate wedding ceremony, and their wedding photos were revealed to the public.

Ayla waited a little while to confront her husband. Alistair was rarely at home, and he never treated her as his wife. They had been married for some time, but she had yet to have a decent conversation with her husband. She knew that he was forced to marry her by his family, and Alistair hated her for it.

Ayla couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness and resentment towards her husband. She couldn’t understand why he blamed her for their loveless marriage when it was clear that his heart belonged to someone else. It became increasingly difficult for Ayla to ignore the growing distance between them, and she knew that confronting Alistair about his true feelings was inevitable.

She found her husband in his study, drinking alone and staring at the crescent moon that hung in the night sky. Ayla hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to approach him, but she knew that their marriage couldn’t continue like this. Taking a deep breath, she mustered up the courage to break the silence and confront Alistair about their crumbling relationship.

"What brings you here? Didn’t I say this room is off-limits to you?" Alistair snapped, his voice laced with irritation. Ayla flinched at his harsh words, but she refused to back down. She knew their communication had been strained for too long, and it was time to address the underlying issues.

"Aren’t you going to divorce me?" Ayla asked, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and desperation.

Alistair scoffed and gave her a scathing look. "After ruining everything, do you think I’ll let you off easily? I won’t let you destroy everything without consequences."

Ayla’s heart sank, realizing that repairing their relationship would be even more challenging than anticipated. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Is this because of Addie?" She asked, hitting Alistair’s sore spot. "Why do you like her anyway? Can’t you see she’s not into you? Even now, she’s merely using Lennox Qin to get even with our Jiang family. She’s nothing without him."

Ayla never thought highly of her cousin, Adrienne. She thought her cousin was a fool and easy to manipulate when they were younger. She was used to Adrienne following her around like a lost puppy and never thought the same foolish cousin could pique Alistair’s curiosity, something Ayla tried to do herself. Ayla couldn’t understand what Alistair saw in Adrienne and why he was so infatuated with her, especially when it seemed obvious to her that Adrienne had ulterior motives.

Alistair’s expression darkened. Suddenly, he threw the glass he was holding at the wall behind Ayla, barely missing her. Ayla stumbled back in shock, her heart racing. She had never seen Alistair so enraged before. As shattered glass scattered across the floor, she realized she might have gone overboard this time.

"You are insulting, Adrienne, but do you know who’s useless here? It’s no one else but you." Her husband sneered at her. "The person you’ve been belittling is the mysterious investor who pushed Sofia Yun into stardom. The Adrienne Jiang you are looking down on is the one who managed to destroy Jiang Corporation singlehandedly. Do you think she relied on Lennox Qin’s help to get where she is now? Adrienne Jiang is the owner of the multimillion-dollar shoe brand Purple Cloud. She established her company without the Jiang and Zhao families’ help, but what about you, Ayla? What have you accomplished on your own? Have you built anything significant or succeeded without relying on others?"

Ayla’s face paled as she realized the magnitude of her own insignificance compared to Adrienne’s accomplishments. She never thought Adrienne had surpassed her in many ways. Compared to her cousin, Ayla had just lost everything.

Her career, her father, her future, and most of all, her chance to win Alistair’s heart

"Compared to Adrienne, you are nothing," Alistair said coldly, his words cutting through Ayla like a knife. The weight of her own failures and inadequacies pressed down on her, leaving her feeling utterly defeated and alone.

Ayla’s knees weakened, and she fell on the cold floor in shock, tears streaming down her face.

"I won’t divorce you, Ayla, but I’ll make sure to make your life miserable for the rest of your life. Adrienne kept her distance from me because of you. If it wasn’t for you, Adrienne wouldn’t choose Lennox Qin over me."

He then let out a sinister laugh, sending chills down Ayla’s spine.

"The child you used to trap me into marriage wasn’t mine. After seducing me, you got the nerve to sleep with another man to get pregnant. You thought you could deceive me and my family? From now on, you’ll pay for your deceit and betrayal."

Ayla’s heart sank as she realized the depth of his anger and the darkness that awaited her. Alistair was looking at her with eyes filled with pure rage and a twisted sense of satisfaction. She knew that her life was about to become a living nightmare, trapped in a web of pain and torture that she could never escape from.

Alistair stood up from her seat and hovered over her. He then cupped her chin and forced her to look into his eyes, making sure she understood the gravity of the situation.

"You thought you could deceive me without consequences," he sneered, his grip tightening on her chin. "But now, you will learn what it truly means to cross me."

With those words, Alistair pulled her wrist harshly, forcing her to stand up. Ayla cried in pain as her husband dragged her back to her bedroom and threw her on the bed, the force causing her to bounce slightly on impact. Alistair’s eyes burned with a mixture of anger and betrayal as he towered over her, his voice dripping with venom.

"You will never forget this lesson," he growled, his words echoing through the room.

Alistair then pulled Ayla’s nightclothes, tearing them in the process leaving her vulnerable and exposed. Ayla’s heart raced as she trembled under his gaze, feeling fear wash over her. She never thought Alistair would lay a hand on her.

The next thing she knew, Alistair was forcing himself on her. He wasn’t making love to her; he was punishing her. Ayla felt a sharp pain as Alistair’s roughness tore her apart. Her body shook with sobs as he continued to ravage her, his anger and resentment fueling the violence.

As Alistair finished, he got up and left the room without a word, leaving Ayla alone and broken. She lay there, tears streaming down her face, her body aching, and her soul shattered. She wanted to scream, to cry, and to run away. But she knew there was nowhere to go. Alistair had made sure of that.

There was no going back from this. Alistair had shown her his true colors, and they were black as coal. From now on, she knew that she would have to fight for her survival, for her sanity, and for her life. She knew that she would never be the same again.
