Adrienne was listening to Scarlett practicing piano in their living area. The young girl had an interest in musical instruments, and Scarlett requested to have a piano. After several attempts to convince Lennox, he finally conceded for so long that Scarlett wouldn’t allow her practice sessions to affect her studies.

She had seen Scarlett this serious. Adrienne initially thought Scarlett would follow in her mother’s footsteps by becoming an actress, but Scarlett’s shy and reserved personality made her gravitate towards music instead.

Once her fingers hit the last note, Scarlett turned her attention to Adrienne with a hopeful smile. She eagerly awaited her sister-in-law’s feedback, knowing that Adrienne’s opinion meant the world to her.

"You are getting better, Scarlett. I’m sure your brother would be thrilled to know about your recital at school." Adrienne commented.

Scarlett blushed as the comment Adrienne made. She also couldn’t help but feel nervous upon the mention of her upcoming recital. It hadn’t been too long since she took piano lessons, and she didn’t want to disappoint Adrienne and Lennox.

"Don’t worry, Scarlett. I’m sure you’ll do just fine. It must be nerve-wracking to play before everyone, but remember that they are all rooting for you." Adrienne reassured her. Scarlett nodded, grateful for Adrienne’s encouragement. She took a deep breath and reminded herself that she had practiced diligently for this moment.

Myrtle arrived and Adrienne excused herself. She had so many reports to review for Purple Cloud. Scarlett continued her lessons.

"Why didn’t you attend Ayla and Alistair’s wedding?" Myrtle couldn’t help but ask.

Everyone knew about the wedding and while Myrtle was invited as well as she was Alistair’s stepsister, Myrtle chose not to show up. She never considered him as her brother and there was no way she would acknowledge Ayla as her new sister-in-law.

"Why bother to waste time to attend the wedding when we both know Ayla’s bubble is about to pop anytime soon." Adrienne chuckled as she reviewed the reports.

Myrtle’s face darkened. "I would have never thought she’s capable of doing that. The Jiang family are so vicious."

Myrtle was momentarily stunned as she looked at Adrienne. Adrienne was also part of the Jiang family, and her words implicate that Adrienne was like the rest of her family.

"Sorry, Addie." She whispered, with a guitly tone.

"There’s no need to apologize, Myrtle." Adrienne gave her a smile. "I wouldn’t have been like this if it wasn’t for them."

Myrtle nodded, understanding Adrienne’s sentiments towards her family. She knew too well how family could shape someone’s life, and sometimes the effects could be irreversible.

Her family looked down on her for turning her back on them, but she knew that was the best decision she had ever made.

Adrienne’s thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. It was Lennox.

"Hey, girls. What’s up?" He asked, smiling at both Adrienne and Myrtle. He was Scarlett, holding his hand as she beamed a smile to Adrienne.

"Just reviewing some reports for Purple Cloud," Adrienne replied, setting the papers aside.

Myrtle picked up the reports and documents Adrienne signed and excused herself. She needed to make a phone call to Sunny Liu .

"How was your day at work?" Scarlett asked her brother, happy to see him.

"It was good. Busy, as usual," Lennox replied, ruffling Scarlett’s hair affectionately.

"I’m excited for your recital, Scar. I’m sure you’ll do great," Lennox said, giving her a reassuring smile.

"I hope so," Scarlett replied, her nerves still evident. "Are you going, Nox?"

"What makes you think I won’t miss your first recital?" Lennox grinned at his sister. "I wouldn’t miss it for the world."

Adrienne watched them, a sense of longing creeping into her heart. She wished she had someone who cared about her like Lennox did for Scarlett when she was younger. Hunter was with reunited with them, but it was impossible to return the loss time.

Adrienne watched the siblings interact, feeling a warmness in her heart. She loved how Lennox was always there for Scarlett, and how much Scarlett looked up to her brother. It was moments like these that reminded her of the importance of family.

As Lennox and Scarlett continued to talk, Adrienne couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment. Despite the chaos that surrounded her Jiang family, she had found a place where she belonged. A place where she was loved and accepted for who she was.

"Scarlet, are you done with your lessons? Your tutor must have been waiting for your return." Adrienne asked her young sister-in-law.

Scarlett blushed and left her brother and Adrienne. She closed the door behind her gently, to make sure she won’t disturb Noah’s afternoon nap in his room across Adrienne’s study.

"I heard the wedding went smoothly today, though Alistair came almost late to his own wedding." Lennox commented as he sat on the couch, watching his wife finish the remaining documents in her hand.

"Ayla must have been thrilled marrying the man of her dreams." Adrienne replied with a chuckle.

"I don’t know if I should pity her, but when I think what she’d done, I couldn’t help but she’ll deserve what would happen to her later." Lennox shed his outer coat and unbottoned the cuff of his long sleeves.

"Ayla’s a big girl. She should know by now what’s right or wrong. She made choice, and she’s bound to learn it came with consequences."

Lennox nodded in agreement, "She will learn it the hard way."

Adrienne sighed, "Unfortunately, that’s the price he has to pay for being in love with her. Love can be a powerful thing, Lennox. It can make people do crazy things."

Lennox chuckled, "Tell me about it. I’m crazy in love with you, and look where it got us."

Adrienne smiled, "It got us here, together. And I wouldn’t want it any other way."

Adrienne finished signing the last document and leaned back in her chair, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Well, I think that’s enough work for today. How about we grab dinner tonight? Just the two of us."

Lennox’s face lit up at the suggestion. "That sounds great. Where do you want to go?"

Adrienne shrugged. "Anywhere, really. As long as it’s not too fancy."

Lennox chuckled. "Got it. I’ll make the reservation."

As he left the room to make the call, Adrienne couldn’t help but feel grateful for her relationship with Lennox. Despite their rocky start, they had grown to love and support each other unconditionally.
