Chapter 311: I Don’t Regret a Single Thing (2)

"Alistair and I never had a ceremony when we got married." She told him once they arrived at their room. "I didn’t experience dressing on a beautiful wedding dress and walk down the aisle. My parents weren’t with me and I married him despite Myrtle’s objection, but I’m glad it’s different now."

"Did Uncle Reese agree to walk with you?" Lennox sat down at the edge of the bed while Adrienne stood before him, keeping his hand to hers.

"Yes," Adrienne beamed a smile. "He said he thought it would be Hunter giving my hand away, but he was honored that I considered him instead."

"Your father can never be half a man your Uncle Reese is," Lennox said, his tone serious but warm. "I know it’s not easy for you to talk about your past with Alistair, but I want you to know that I’m here for you, Addie. Always."

Adrienne’s eyes glistened with tears as she sat down next to him.

"You’ve always been there for me, Len," she said, her voice wavering with emotion. "And I’m so grateful for that. Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve you, but you always remind me that I do."

Lennox took her hand and kissed it gently.

"You deserve all the love and happiness in the world, Addie," he said. "And I’ll make sure you get it."

They sat in silence for a few moments, enjoying each other’s company. Finally, Adrienne broke the silence.

"Len, can I ask you something?" she said, her voice tentative.

"Of course, Addie. Anything," Lennox replied.

"Are you happy?" Adrienne asked, looking at him earnestly in the eyes.

She was more than aware that she was also at fault at the failure of her marriage with Alistair in her past life. Adrienne didn’t want to commit the same mistakes with Lennox and wanted to become a good wife to him. She didn’t want him to regret choosing of being with her.

Lennox smiled at her, his eyes twinkling with joy.

"I’m the happiest man in the world, Addie," he said. "Because I have you. Before I met you that day, all I can think was I wished I had died with my father and being left crippled and heavily injured was far crueler than death. I wasn’t in a good place and you changed my life. You gave me a reason to live, a reason to smile and be happy. You brought my siblings to me and now I think of them as my family, something I’ve never had when I was a kid. "

"Len..." Adrienne looked at him with astonishment, but Lennox shook his head.

"No, Addie. Let me tell you this. I don’t want you to doubt yourself or what we have. know we’ve both been through a lot in the past, but I don’t regret a single thing. Meeting you, falling in love with you, and marrying you, those are the best things that ever happened to me. You make me feel alive, Addie. You make me want to be a better man, to do better, to be better. You complete me in every way, and I will always love you, no matter what. I could never be happier than I am when I’m with you."

Adrienne’s heart swelled with emotions as she heard Lennox’s words. She leaned in and kissed him deeply, pouring all of her love into that kiss. They pulled away, breathless but contented.

"But I’ve been foolish in the past. I did a lot of mistakes." She whispered as she pressed her forehead against his.

"Who hasn’t made mistakes?" Lennox replied, his voice filled with understanding. "But what’s important is that we learn from them and move forward. We have each other now. You have me now. I will not allow anyone to hurt you and any of your loved ones, Addie. I’ve come to love them as my own as well."

Adrienne nodded, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that with Lennox by her side, she could overcome anything.

"But I’m sorry about Dylan," Lennox continued, "I know you love that boy so much and losing him still hurts you."

"No, Len. Don’t apologize. There’s nothing we can do about it." Adrienne told him.

"If your assumption that Gavin fathered Dylan, then perhaps you’ll be able to reunite with him in the future."

Adrienne shook her head. The last thing she want to have was to fool herself to believe Dylan would eventually return to them. Not only did she fail to protect Myrtle in the past, but also broke her promise to her best friend by allowing Dylan to die with her. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

As if Lennox knew what she was thinking, he said, "If the Myrtle of your past life knew what you’ve been through, she won’t blame you for any of it, Addie. The Myrtle I know would never want to see you punish yourself like this. She must have chosen to give birth to Dylan despite her frail condition because she knew you and Gavin won’t forsake Dylan after her death. You have to forgive yourself, Addie. Only then you could truly move on and live your life to the fullest."

Adrienne’s eyes widened with emotion and she threw herself into his arms, holding him tightly. She hadn’t really moved on from the grief she had when she lost her mother and Myrtle. Having witnessed Dylan dying on burning car with her had left a deep scar in her heart, and it hadn’t fully healed yet. But with Lennox’s words of comfort and understanding, she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders. She knew it wouldn’t be easy, but she was willing to try and forgive herself.

"You’re right, Len," she said softly, pulling back from their embrace. "I need to try and forgive myself and move on. Thank you for being here for me, for understanding me."

"Always, Addie," Lennox replied, holding her hand. "I’ll always be here for you, no matter what. And I know you’ll get through this, you’re strong and resilient."

Adrienne smiled at him, feeling a sense of gratitude and love for him. She knew that with Lennox by her side, she could overcome anything, even the pain of her past.
