Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 216: Husband and Wife (2)
Night came and Gavin and Myrtle departed, leaving Adrienne alone with her husband. The kitchen was already sparkly clean when their guests left, leaving Adrienne no excuses but to join her husband at the balcony where they could see the cityscapes at night. She quietly observed Lennox without saying anything.
Lennox had always been good looking even when she first met him, but perhaps, their long separation had added some charm on his face. His temperament was better and his entire being gave off a confident and authoritative aura to others. However, he was as handsome Adrienne remembered him to be.
Lennox smiled at him and took her hand before gathering her into his arms with her back pressed against his chest. She felt him kiss her crown and sighed behind her.
Adrienne wondered what he was thinking at that moment. She leaned against him and remembered Myrtle’s words earlier. Itt wasn’t easy to let go of things, especially her deep seated hatred for the Jiang family, but Adrienne hoped that there would come she would be fully committed to Lennox, and be worthy of his love.
When she proposed a marriage to Lennox years ago, she had thought of her own marriage as a means to use his power and fluence to attain her own goals. Since she intended to seek vengeance to those who wronged her, Adrienne didn’t care about whether there was sincerity or love involved in this marriage.
However, now that she grew some affections for her husband, how could she let anyone harm him and this marriage? She wasn’t willing to share him with another woman. After all, she was a selfish and vindictive person, so how could she bear to see Lennox with another woman?
When she married Lennox earlier, Adrienne felt an indescribable feeling in her heart. It was as if she was saying farewell to her tragic past and embracing this new beginning with Lennox Qin.
"Wife." Lennox whispered to her.
Adrienne turned her head to look at him. "Hmm?"
"Nothing. I’m just happy that I can finally call you my wife." Lennox beamed her a smile. "You have no idea how happy I am, Addie. I never thought I could find someone like you, someone who truly completes me."
"Is that so? I have no idea Mr. Qin can be so romatic?" Adrienne teased, raising an eyebrow playfully. "Well, I guess you’re full of surprises, Mr. Qin." She chuckled, feeling a warmth spread through her as she looked into his eyes.
Lennox embraced her, his long lashes concealing the emotion in his eyes. He was aware that Adrienne was keeping a secret to him, a secret not even Gavin or their elite guards could uncover for a long time. When he first met her, Lennox thought she was acting mature at her young age, but as he got to know her more, Adrienne’s mannerisms and actions were one who already lived years beyond her age.
He didn’t dare to confront her about it, but now that they were married, Lennox wondered if there would be a day that Adrienne would trust him fully. This secret she was keeping on him was a great invisible barrier that stopped Lennox to fully understand his wife.
"It’s getting late. Let’s go inside." He suggested, feeling the biting coldness of the night.
Adrienne nodded silently, her eyes distant as she released herself from Lennox’s hold. When she opened the room, she turned around and found her husband looking at her with confusion.
"What’s wrong?" She asked, wondering what could have made her husband act like this.
"You aren’t going to let me sleep in the guestroom again, are you?" He asked in return.
Adrienne opened her mouth to say something but stopped midway when it dawned to her that tonight was also their wedding night.
A blush crept up her cheeks as she realized her mistake. She quickly composed herself and gestured for him to follow her. As they walked into the bedroom, Adrienne couldn’t help but feel nervous. It wasn’t like she was inexperienced. She and Lennox used to make out before he left with his siblings, but the thought of being vulnerable and exposed with Lennox made her feel uneasy.
Lennox noticed the change in her demeanor and gently held her hand, bringing it to his lips. "Don’t worry, Addie. We don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for. I want you to know that I will never force you to do anything you’re not comfortable with. If you’re not ready for this, we can wait." He said, his voice gentle and reassuring.
As they got ready for bed, Adrienne’s eyes kept straying to her husband’s toned physique. She swallowed hard, feeling a knot form in her stomach. She had never been this attracted to anyone before, and the desire she felt for Lennox was almost overwhelming.
Lennox noticed her gaze and smirked, pulling her towards him. "What’s on your mind, wife?"
Adrienne shook her head, averted her gaze and sat down on the bed. She then released her long hair from its bun, letting it cascade down her back. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. The intensity of her feelings for Lennox was both exhilarating and terrifying.
Lennox watched her in daze and reached out a hand to hold her long hair. He gently ran his fingers through the silky strands, savoring the softness against his skin. As their eyes locked, a mix of passion and vulnerability filled the room, creating an electric atmosphere between them.
It wasn’t the first time they would be sleeping on the same bed, but this was their wedding night, so how could Lennox remain calm? However, he knew that if Adrienne didn’t want to do it, he would have no other choice but to respect it. But that didn’t mean he didn’t desire this woman before him.
Adrienne felt her cheeks flush as Lennox gently leaned in to kiss her. His lips were warm and soft against hers, and she couldn’t help but feel a surge of desire through her body. She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss, letting go of all her inhibitions.
Lennox’s hands roamed over her body, caressing her curves and making her shiver with pleasure. He broke the kiss and looked deeply into her eyes, his forehead pressed against hers.
"Are you sure about this, Addie?" he asked, his voice husky with desire.
Adrienne nodded, her eyes dark with want. "Yes, Len. I’m sure."
