Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 172: My Sister Is Not a Thief (2)
Lennox and Adrienne were engrossed in their talks and plans for Nanchuan when Adrienne’s phone rang. She took her phone from her purse and frowned when she saw Samantha calling her. She checked the time, and it wasn’t even time for the end of the classes. She wondered what Samantha needed from her this time.
"What’s wrong?" Lennox asked, sensing the sudden change in her mood.
"It’s Samantha," Adrienne replied before picking up the call. Samantha explained her situation in a few words and asked her sister-in-law to come and pick her up at school, as the teacher wanted to have a word with her guardian.
Adrienne ended the call and pinched the bridge of her nose. She knew Samantha was being bullied at school, but she thought it ceased once Samantha started to live with her brother.
Adrienne had hoped that the change in environment would provide Samantha with some respite from the torment she had endured. However, it seemed that the bullies had found a way to continue their harassment, causing Adrienne’s concern to deepen.
"Sam is in trouble. I need to pick her up and speak with her homeroom teacher." She explained it to Lennox.
"Would you be alright on your own? We aren’t married yet, and I’m her legal guardian." Lennox replied, "I’ll call her homeroom teacher and inform her that whatever you decide, I’ll approve it."
Adrienne nodded, appreciating Lennox’s support. She quickly dialed Samantha’s homeroom teacher and explained the situation, emphasizing the urgency of the matter. As she hung up the phone, a sense of determination washed over her—she was determined to end Samantha’s torment once and for all.
Adrienne rushed and left Jinxiu Garden with her brother. Samantha said that her classmates accused her of stealing an expensive necklace, and she denied the allegation to Adrienne.
Of course, Adrienne believed her, but she couldn’t believe young women at such an age were already that wicked to bully Samantha to this extent. She couldn’t wait to see what those young women were up to. They were going too far! If they think they can still bully Samantha, they’re gravely mistaken.
Adrienne could hear someone shouting at her younger sister-in-law as soon as she entered the hallway leading to the office.
"Samantha Qin, you’re the only one left in the classroom! As soon as you left, my necklace went missing! Hand over the necklace, and we can pretend it never happened!"
Samantha stood up from her seat. Despite her cool and composed countenance, she gave off a dangerous aura. Her eyes narrowed dangerously at the three young women before her.
"Classmate Liu, your accusation doesn’t make sense. You are accusing me of stealing your diamond necklace without evidence. A middle school student wearing such an expensive item at school—don’t you think you’re stupid? Do you take us for fools? What proof do you have that I took your necklace?" Samantha’s tone was casual, but there was an underlying threat to it.
Classmate Liu’s face turned red with anger. She pointed a finger accusingly at Samantha, her voice trembling with rage. "I know it was you, Samatha! You’ve always been jealous of me. You must have taken it to get back at me!"
Samantha’s eyes flashed with a mix of frustration and disbelief.
"Jealousy? I have no reason to be jealous of you." She scoffed, "You are spouting nonsense." Samantha crossed her arms, her voice firm, as she defended herself. "I have no interest in your necklace or any reason to stoop so low. Accusing me without evidence is unfair and baseless."
"Stop denying it! You have no one to back you up, Samantha. Just confess it already! My father gave me that diamond necklace. It cost a fortune!"
Classmate Liu was visibly flustered, and struggled to find words to support her claim. Samantha would have burst into tears and cried injustice if it were before. However, this time Samantha stood her ground, her eyes filled with determination. She knew she had nothing to hide and was determined to prove her innocence.
"Who said Samantha doesn’t have anyone to back her up? Are you looking down on our Qin family?" Adrienne spoke, announcing her arrival to everyone. She extended a hand and greeted Samantha’s homeroom teacher.
"Hello. I’m Adrienne Jiang. I’m here to represent Samantha’s legal guardian. I hope Teacher Ye can give us an insightful answer to this problem."
"Addie, I didn’t steal anything. I didn’t..." Samantha’s eyes shone with tears but she refused to shed any of them.
"I believe you." Adrienne smiled at her and said, "Despite your challenging living arrangement before, you never stole from anyone." She said it, smiling, before turning to the three young women ganging up against Samantha.
"My sister is not a thief. What’s the point of making a scene like this if there’s no evidence? Even the authorities would ask for proof and evidence before persecuting someone. What makes you different from thugs who take matters into their own hands? Don’t you know what you’re doing right now is just slander?"
The three young women recognized Adrienne, and their faces immediately turned pale. Wasn’t this the same crazy woman who almost beat them to death before? 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Find the necklace. No one will leave this room until we find it!" Adrienne declared, "If we prove that Samantha didn’t take it, you better apologize to her in front of all the students in this school!"
Adrienne had brought Irina, Kalista, and Leigh with them. She gestured to them to make a move and check the bags and clothes of everyone involved in the problem. Irina checked Samantha’s bag, and several notebooks, pens, and books fell on the table, but the missing necklaces couldn’t be found.
At the same time, Kalista, Leigh, and Hunter checked the three bags of her classmates. Something glittering caught everyone’s attention when Leigh searched classmate Liu’s bag.
Samantha’s homeroom teacher frowned while Adrienne picked up the missing necklace from the table.
"So your missing necklace was in your bag all this time?" Samantha said it arrogantly. "You caused trouble and slandered me when it’s in your possession? Do you think I’m still so easy to bully? You accused me of stealing, but aren’t you too stupid to hide the necklace in your school bag instead of mine?"
She stepped forward, and her face turned gloomy. Adrienne watched in awe, seeing Samantha finally stand up for herself.
"You claim that your father gave you this expensive diamond necklace?" But Miss Liu, I think your father has lied to you." Adrienne hummed.
She smiled as she crushed the small white crystal dangling from the necklace using the teacher’s metal stapler.
"How could it be a diamond? Isn’t this a fancy diamond necklace that could be bought at the roadside stall?"
