Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 171: My Sister Is Not a Thief (1)
"Marion Gu asked me about her brother’s sudden death," Adrienne informed Lennox as he poured them a cup of tea.
Lennox hummed but said nothing. Sending Ares Gu’s remains to the Jiang Estate wasn’t just a warning; it was a way to instill fear in them and make them experience the same humiliation they had intended for Adrienne. Did the Jiang family believe they could escape unscathed after trying to defile Adrienne and destroy her life?
The thought darkened Lennox’s eyes instantly. He didn’t care what others might think about his actions; all he cared about was Adrienne’s safety. Even if the authorities were to apprehend Ares Gu, he would most likely find a way to escape punishment by bribing someone. Ares was the type of person who looked down on women and treated them as inferior beings.
Lennox took a sip of his tea, the warmth soothing his anger momentarily. He knew that the battle was far from over. The Jiang family may have underestimated their opponent, but Lennox was determined to show them the consequences of their actions.
With a casual tone, he said, "No one gets away with hurting you, Addie. I’ll protect you at all costs. No questions asked."
"I know, Len, but don’t get too involved. This is the fight I have to win. I appreciate your help, but I would appreciate it if you’d inform me of your plans before doing something."
Lennox nodded, understanding Adrienne’s concerns. He respected her independence and knew that she was more than capable of fighting her own battles. However, he couldn’t help but worry for her safety. The Jiang family, as well as the Han and Ji families, were not ones to be taken lightly. He had seen firsthand the lengths they would go to protect their power and interests.
"I hear you, Addie. I’ll make sure to discuss my plans with you before taking any action next time," he assured her. "Just remember, I’m always here for you. You don’t have to face this alone."
Adrienne smiled softly, appreciating Lennox’s support. She knew that he meant every word he said. Lennox had proven time and time again that he would go to great lengths to protect those he cared about.
Adrienne spotted a map of a small town in the southeast part of the country. The residents had fishing as their main source of income. However, in Adrienne’s past life, Nanchuan would become one of the country’s largest and most progressive cities a decade from now.
Most of the appliances sold worldwide came from Nanchuan and its neighboring cities. Additionally, the region has gained a reputation as a hub for technology entrepreneurs on a global scale and has been named one of the future global start-up hubs. If Adrienne could take advantage of this knowledge, she would need Lennox and Gavin’s help.
"Len, can you help me buy a piece of land in Nanchuan? Please choose one near the center of town." She asked Lennox, holding up the map to show him.
Lennox looked at her with surprise. He knew that Adrienne was slowly making passive income on her own and covering most of her expenses, refusing aid from the Zhao family.
"How large do you want it to be?" He asked curiously. An acquaintance had told him that some foreign investors were planning to outsource their manufacturing and were eyeing Nanchuan.
"I don’t need that much. Just enough to build and lease a building at a high price."
Lennox nodded, understanding her intentions. He had heard rumors about the booming real estate market in Nanchuan and knew that Adrienne’s plan could be a lucrative opportunity. However, he couldn’t help but wonder if she was taking on too much risk by solely relying on her own income for such a venture.
"Alright. I can arrange that." Lennox answered. "But may I ask why you’re interested in buying land in Nanchuan? It’s a small fishing town right now, but I know you always have a good reason for your plans."
Adrienne smiled mischievously, knowing that Lennox was always one to question her ideas.
"Well, Len, I feel that Nanchuan is going to transform into something big in the future. I want to be a part of their growth and success." Adrienne explained, "I’ve done some research, and there are several development projects in the works for Nanchuan, including plans for a new port and tourism initiatives. I believe investing in land now will yield significant returns in the long run."
Lennox nodded, his surprise slowly turning into excitement. He took the map from her hand and traced his finger across the various streets and neighborhoods, searching for the perfect location near the center of the town.
"I see what you mean, Addie. Actually, you’re right. Not everyone knows it, but I heard from a reliable source that tech firms are now eyeing Nanchuan to develop it into a tech hub. If Nanchuan becomes a hub for technology and startups, owning land near the center of town could be a smart investment. We could potentially build our own headquarters there in the future."
As they delved into their plan, Adrienne realized they needed another ally with a keen eye for business and market trends. Gavin immediately came to her mind. Adrienne remembered that Gavin had successfully predicted the rise of e-commerce and had a strong network in the tech industry. With his expertise and connections, he could be a valuable asset in navigating the potential opportunities in Nanchuan’s emerging tech hub.
Turning to Lennox, Adrienne asked, "Do you think Gavin would be interested in joining us? We could use his expertise in navigating the business landscape and finding potential investors for Huayi at the same time."
Lennox nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. Gavin has always been one step ahead when it comes to business opportunities. Huayi would not have reached what it is now if not for him. I’ll contact him and see if he’s on board."
Little did they know, their decision to invest in this small town would not only change their lives but also play a significant role in shaping the future of Nanchuan itself.
