Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 105: Seeking Trouble (1)
Ayla Jiang was conceited because of her outstanding looks and because of her parent’s backing. However, the picturesque, ideal family that everyone was praising about was far from perfect. This was just a facade as Adrienne’s third uncle was keeping a huge secret.
In her past life, during her three years of marriage with Alistair, this scandalous news had hit the Jiang family and effectively ruining the harmonious relationship between her Uncle Waylen and Aunt Maryam. This also left a taint on Ayla Jiang’s reputation. Her influence within the circle immediately plummeted. Since her reputation had fallen to such a low, Ayla had lost the opportunity to marry into a respectable family that was willing to overlook her family’s issues.
There was a reason why Adrienne and Ayla could never exist in harmony under the same sky. While Adrienne had indeed become the Madam Han in her previous life, Ayla had become Alistair’s favored mistress. Of course, this truth has never been revealed to anyone, but many weeks before Adrienne’s death, Ayla had come to see her and had divulged the affair to her.
Perhaps Ayla was aware that Adrienne’s days were numbered and she wanted to spite her for the last time. However, what she didn’t know was Adrienne had already lost all affections she had for her husband. It hadn’t bothered her before, but that didn’t mean she didn’t take offense to Ayla’s audacity.
Adrienne’s eyes flashed with contempt as she thought about it.
’If you want to dream, I won’t hinder you. This one is eager to see how you’ll react in the end.’
Three days later, after Adrienne’s classes had ended, she found her brother outside the school grounds waiting for her with a soured expression on his face. A couple of meters away from them, Adrienne spotted the reason for his sour mood.
"Do we really have to bring him?" Hunter said with indignation. He was unwilling to work along the notorious loan shark.
"Then, is my brother willing to get his hands dirty for me?" Adrienne asked with a smile. A trace of mischief appeared in her beautiful eyes.
Hunter shivered, seeing her smile. His heart trembled under the weight of her gaze. As he looked at his sister’s smile, he realized that Adrienne’s smile can mean several things. She smiled when she’s happy, she also smiled when she’s hiding her pain, but what was most baffling and terrifying was how Adrienne could smile with malice in her eyes whenever she was provoked by someone.
Clearly, what she had in mind today was something Hunter cannot handle on his own. However, how could Hunter not be upset when his younger sister would rather trust a stranger to do her bidding than him, her own brother? How could he entrust his precious little sister’s safety to that kind of person?
"Don’t worry. I’m merely using him to get his worth. I didn’t pay that much money for him to be useless in the end. Such dirty things would sully you, brother. Leave the scheming and dirty tricks to me and Uncle Shark." Adrienne whispered to him before entering the car.
"You..." Hunter wanted to say something, but he was forced to keep it to himself. His sister’s words were so blunt that he absolutely had no idea how to respond. He couldn’t help but be stunned frozen in his place by that mesmerizing pair of eyes that had suddenly flashed with a chilling frost.
In the distance, when Uncle Shark caught a glimpse of her arrival, he had extinguished his cigarette at once. He took the passenger seat next to Hunter, much to the latter’s annoyance. However, Hunter could only endure this man and pretend like he didn’t exist at all.
None of them spoke a single word during the drive. It took over two hours before they reached their destination. Hunter looked up at the high raised condominium before them and had a complicated expression on his face. Three days ago, Adrienne asked him to locate someone. He wasn’t sure how this person was related to Adrienne, but he did what she asked anyway.
Adrienne didn’t go straight to the condominium, but instead went to a nearby fastfood joint. Uncle Shark and Hunter had no choice but to wait for her and when she returned, both men were stunned seeing her dressed in a business manner. She was dressed in a stylish, long sleeved white blouse and black pants. On her feet, her school shoes were replaced with high heeled shoes.
"I thought we’re going to meet someone?" Uncle Shark chuckled.
Adrienne smiled at him. "We’re also striking a deal at the same time. I expect Uncle Shark to cooperate with me today. Obviously, a lot of money is involved, so we cannot be careless."
The middle aged man laughed heartily. His eyes curving like inverted crescent moons.
"Miss Jiang really knows how to bring trouble to someone’s door." He commented.
"I’m a younger girl who needs money after all. How could I waste this chance?" Adrienne replied, her expression relaxed as if she was basking in springtime weather.
The three didn’t waste time and went inside the condominium building. At the reception area, Adrienne introduced herself as Waylen Jiang’s niece who was visiting the city. She also presented a secondary keycard for his unit. The security allowed the three to enter the premises and Hunter shook his head as he entered the elevator with his sister and the loan shark. He couldn’t believe how lax the security of this place was. If this was the case, anyone could enter and leave the place at ease.
The elevator stopped at their destination and the two men followed their miss as she walked in the empty hallway. The sound of her heel hitting the marbled floor was the only thing that could be heard. It didn’t take long before she stopped at unit 714’s door and pressed the intercom.
The three didn’t wait long before the door was suddenly opened by a woman.
