Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 294: Watching the Audition
Nancy Allen’s illness lingered for many days before she fully recovered.
During this time, she did not face the anticipated pressure. Her family didn’t relentlessly question her, and Godfery Shaw stopped searching for her altogether.
Everything was quiet, as if Godfery Shaw was silently saying he would tolerate her whims.
Indeed, without resolving those matters, her behavior seemed whimsical. Just days ago, she said she wanted to be his girlfriend, and they were gradually getting closer, yet she abruptly withdrew.
The silence did not bring peace to Nancy Allen’s heart; it only made her more distressed. It was a dull, aching pain that throbbed at her heart like the onset of an illness.
She didn’t want any misunderstandings; she preferred to clear things up directly in person.
But the heavy emotions between her and Godfery Shaw, intertwined with life and death, left her with no courage to admit she mistook someone else for him.
Escape was Nancy Allen’s only response for now.
Elijah Jefferson noticed Nancy Allen’s depression, but he was helpless.
Nancy Allen leaned dazedly against the headboard. Elijah Jefferson opened the curtains in her room, and sunlight poured in. Nancy Allen slightly closed her eyes, raising a hand to shield from the light.
Elijah Jefferson tried to appear gentle as he said, "Nancy, look, the weather’s so nice today. Let’s go for a walk together."
Nancy Allen adjusted to the intense light, silently.
Elijah Jefferson thought for a moment and said, "Our company is finalizing casting selections and has been delayed for several days. I want to check the final results, but I’m worried about you, so just consider accompanying me."
Nancy Allen finally raised her eyes.
Those eyes, shrouded in a smoky mist, carried a faint sadness that made Elijah Jefferson’s heart tighten.
Nancy Allen finally nodded.
She knew Elijah Jefferson was on a business trip for legitimate reasons, but upon her arrival, she had been sick for so many days, and Elijah Jefferson stayed by her side every day, certainly delaying a lot of his affairs.
Elijah Jefferson was relieved to see Nancy Allen agree, "Then you tidy up, and I’ll wait for you outside."
After Elijah Jefferson left the room, Nancy Allen got out of bed.
Having lain down for too long, she felt dizzy upon getting up. Nancy Allen steadied herself against the wall until the dizziness subsided.
After freshening up, she opened the wardrobe, choosing a white sweater dress that reached her ankles.
Elijah Jefferson often saw Nancy Allen wear white and assumed she liked the color, so most of the clothes he prepared for her were white.
Her long black hair fell loosely around her waist, and her pale face was captivating even without makeup, displaying a touch of frailty and illness.
Nancy Allen opened the door and went out, and Elijah Jefferson fetched a white plush shawl for her, saying, "You’re naturally afraid of the cold, and it’s suddenly turned chilly. Don’t fall ill again."
Nancy Allen didn’t refuse. She really couldn’t afford to be sick again; she couldn’t trouble Elijah Jefferson any further.
Elijah Jefferson took Nancy Allen to the company.
The Jefferson Estate had diverse businesses, dabbling in legitimate and less savory industries, but their most famous venture was their entertainment and media company.
About half of the current popular stars were promoted under the Jefferson Estate.
Now, Elijah Jefferson brought Nancy Allen into the company.
A man in a pink shirt sneered sarcastically, "Oh, our Boss Jefferson finally graces us with his presence?"
"Stop, your sarcasm is wasted on me. Let’s not waste time. Has the final selection started?" After speaking, Elijah Jefferson turned to the woman behind him and said, "This is Barton Morgan, a renowned agent and the general manager of this area."
Nancy Allen glanced up at Barton Morgan and nodded slightly.
Only then did Barton Morgan notice a woman following Elijah Jefferson. She was wrapped head to toe in white, wearing a hat and mask, with only her eyes visible.
With years of expertise in reading people, Barton Morgan only needed to look into those misty eyes to sense this was surely a beauty.
Barton Morgan naturally leaned closer to Nancy Allen, his smile like a kidnapper, "Missy, what’s your name? Our third brother has never brought a woman by his side before. Are you his girlfriend?"
Elijah Jefferson quickly pulled Barton Morgan away and apologized to Nancy Allen, "He talks too much, don’t take it to heart."
Nancy Allen shook her head, indicating it was fine.
Barton Morgan’s peach blossom eyes sparkled, tweaking the corner of his pink shirt as he internally shouted, "So much chemistry!"
Elijah Jefferson shot Barton Morgan a warning glare.
The group headed together to the sixth floor, where the final selection was underway.
The Jefferson Estate was preparing a major production, with a famed director, a top-notch script, and powerful sponsors backing it, undoubtedly a sure-fire hit. If all the auditionees rushed in at once, it could practically collapse the media building.
Today was the final selection for several major roles.
The trio reached the sixth floor, where about a dozen relatively famous stars sat in the waiting area, each a different kind of beauty, with quite a few assistants alongside them.
As the trio appeared, the attention focused not on Elijah Jefferson and Nancy Allen, but on Barton Morgan.
A few years back, Elijah Jefferson was in Riverwood City, and few in the Jefferson’s media company knew him.
But Barton Morgan’s reputation in the circle was significant; he had successfully promoted a host of people and held the final say in many matters.
Several people immediately wanted to come over and greet him.
Barton Morgan raised his hand to stop them, "Everyone, prepare yourselves. The final audition begins in five minutes."
The atmosphere at the scene grew tense, a sense of gunpowder spreading amidst the handsome men and beautiful women.
Barton Morgan led Elijah Jefferson and Nancy Allen into the audition room.
Inside was an aged director and a fashionably dressed man and woman, possibly assistants, stylists, or stage sound and lighting technicians, etc.
Seeing Barton Morgan appear, everyone stood up to greet him.
Director Harris, however, looked at Elijah Jefferson and greeted him.
Only Barton Morgan and Director Harris knew Elijah Jefferson’s identity here.
The others assumed this man was just Barton Morgan’s friend.
Barton Morgan sat next to Director Harris, while Elijah Jefferson and Nancy Allen seated themselves in the second row.
After greetings, Director Harris got to the point, expressing dissatisfaction to Barton Morgan, "Couldn’t you select some better actors? We’ve delayed casting for so long, and this elaborate selection hasn’t thoroughly satisfied me yet."
Barton Morgan replied with a smile, "Calm down, Director Harris. Finding actors that fit the script isn’t easy. Your standard is here; we’d rather have quality over quantity."
Director Harris’s expression softened a bit.
Soon, the audition began.
Each actor gave their all, fully investing emotion into the brief segments they were given. Those who made it to this final selection had truly stood out from a sea of talent, turning the experience into almost a live theater performance.
Through these brief segments, Nancy Allen saw the tangled emotions of the characters in the play.
Misunderstandings, pain, and love that couldn’t unite.
As Nancy Allen watched, her thoughts gradually drifted away.
Whether it’s in reality or within a script, emotions have always been the world’s most complicated matter.
Her walking away was truly irresponsible behavior. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Nancy Allen suddenly felt a strong urge to ask Godfery Shaw.
Did he love the person from his memories, or was it her, entangled with him for all these years?
