Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 293: He Waits for Her
Sophie Allen’s household registration has now been transferred to Nancy Allen’s name.
Robert Reed is raising Sophie even though it’s unofficial, but he doesn’t care about that.
But now, Sophie’s rightful grandma and grandpa have come.
Robert’s face immediately turned sour; he’s been raising this child since she was tiny, and no one can take her away.
Robert said sternly, "Alright, that’s enough for today, everyone can leave now."
The crowd was puzzled; Old Mr. Reed was smiling like a flower earlier, but now he’s suddenly turned serious. Remembering Robert’s reputation for having a bad temper, they all politely said their goodbyes and left.
Only The Allens were left in the room.
Robert Reed said unceremoniously, "Why are you here? Isn’t Nancy in the Capital City?"
Clara Goodman’s eyes were glued to Sophie, and she said eagerly, "Nancy went on a trip. This child, we..."
Before Clara could finish, Robert Reed interrupted her, "What, you still want to take the child from me? Nancy didn’t dare to take her from me, and you shouldn’t even think about it!"
Edward Allen was immediately displeased, wanting to say why shouldn’t Nancy take her; this child is her sister’s.
But before he could speak, Clara Goodman pulled him back.
Clara Goodman said amicably, "Please rest assured, Old Mr. Reed, we won’t take the child from you. However, I am indeed the child’s grandmother; I was unaware of her existence before which led to neglecting many things. Now that I know, I can’t remain uninvolved."
Sophie widened her eyes in surprise; this is her grandmother?
Robert Reed’s expression wasn’t great; some things are better left unsaid in front of the child.
He leaned down and said to Sophie, "Sophie, why don’t you go play outside for a while with Little Dinosaur; the adults have something to discuss."
Sophie was curious but obediently took Little Dinosaur out.
Emily Allen glanced at the adults, pondering who knows what, and followed Sophie out.
Once the children were outside, the atmosphere in Ink Manor seemed to tense up a bit.
Emily Allen went out with Sophie.
Sophie looked at Emily with curiosity and suddenly seemed to remember something, exclaiming joyfully, "You’re Emily brother!"
Upon hearing his name, Emily froze momentarily, finally speaking after his long silence, "That’s me! How do you know me?"
Sophie immediately started to laugh, "Mom told me, and said she would take me to the Capital soon to see Emily brother. Brother, are you here to see Sophie? But Sophie can’t go with you; I won’t leave Grandpa."
Emily whispered, "Don’t worry, we won’t force you to go. Are you not attending kindergarten?"
Upon hearing that she wouldn’t be taken away, Sophie was no longer worried, smiling brightly, "I have health issues and need medication every day; Grandpa doesn’t feel comfortable letting me go to kindergarten alone. But brother, don’t underestimate me; I know a lot even though I haven’t gone to kindergarten."
Emily looked at Sophie and suddenly asked, "Do you want a brother to take you to school?"
One big and one small child.
One with a cold expression, speaking as if it’s a great inconvenience.
One brimming with smiles, like life is full of joy.
Sophie widened her eyes looking at Emily, instantly understanding and nodding vigorously, "I do!"
Emily’s expression suddenly softened, like he was facing Nancy five years ago.
He suddenly realized he hadn’t been abandoned, and his aunt didn’t completely leave back then; she left Sophie behind.
Sophie became excited right away; she has a brother now, one better looking than the snotty-kid-next-door’s brother!
Sophie reached out to hold Emily’s hand.
Emily didn’t shake it off and led Sophie back inside.
When the two children entered Ink Manor, the adults’ conversation naturally ceased.
Emily bowed to Robert Reed, requesting, "Grandpa Reed, I’m Sophie’s brother. Can I live here in the future and take care of Sophie? I won’t cause you any trouble; I’ll handle my own affairs, and I’m willing to pay living expenses."
Robert Reed was stunned, his serious face suddenly breaking into a smile; with a big wave of his hand, he said, "Yes, I agree. You don’t need to pay any living expenses; Ink Manor won’t struggle to raise one more child. You can live here from now on."
Emily bowed again, "Thank you, Grandpa Reed."
Clara Goodman and Edward Allen were dumbfounded.
They indeed wanted Sophie back; after all, their own granddaughter is definitely whom they want to reclaim.
But unexpectedly, not only did they fail to get her back, they even lost Emily in the process.
Edward said helplessly, "Emily, you..."
Emily interrupted before Edward could finish, "Father, please take care of my school transfer tomorrow. I want to come to Riverwood City, and study at Experimental High School. There’s a primary school and kindergarten next to Experimental High School, and I want to pick and drop Sophie for school in the future."
Sophie asked happily, "Can I go to school soon?"
Sophie’s question was directed towards Robert Reed; other people’s suggestions were just that. Whatever decision she made would certainly consider Robert Reed’s opinion.
Robert Reed frowned looking at Emily.
Emily explained methodically, "Grandpa Reed, I know you’re concerned about Sophie’s health, but she can’t avoid going to school forever. I’ll be beside her, making sure she takes her medication at noon every day. As long as it doesn’t affect her health, I hope you’ll agree to let her go to school."
Robert Reed seriously asked Sophie, "Are you sure you can take care of her?"
Emily nodded, "I’m sure."
Robert Reed knew that not attending kindergarten was okay, but Sophie couldn’t avoid schooling altogether later on. Seeing Sophie’s hopeful eyes, he gritted his teeth and said, "Alright." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Sophie immediately beamed with a brilliant smile.
Emily also appeared warm.
Edward Allen found it difficult to either support or oppose, remaining silent.
Clara Goodman watched Emily’s expression; she hadn’t seen this child smile in the past five years.
Clara Goodman instantly relieved, said, "Old Mr. Reed, then I’ll trouble you to look after Emily in the future. I’ve also decided to move to Riverwood City. I hope our two families can have more interactions from now on."
Clara Goodman, unable to claim what’s hers, took the approach of joining by marriage and agreed right away.
Unable to take Sophie, so be it. Anyway, Nancy will be in Riverwood City; they might as well move there too.
Edward Allen stood there foolishly, suddenly realizing how fortunate he was to run quickly; his father dealing with matters in the Capital City would likely take a long time.
While Ink Manor was peaceful, Imperial Garden felt cold like it was about to freeze.
This time, Godfery Shaw was neither dejected nor enraged.
It was impossible to tell anything had happened; he was utterly calm and normal.
If it weren’t for using some local resources in Riverwood City when searching for Nancy, Hailey Smith and Basil Smith might not have noticed anything amiss.
Afterward, Godfery went to work in the morning and spent the afternoon at Ink Manor building Legos with Sophie.
Like a father-daughter duo abandoned by a heartless woman, reliant solely on each other.
Godfery had calmed down; with Sophie and Old Mr. Reed here, even if she left, she’d come back.
Whether she returns because of him doesn’t matter; she’ll eventually return to Riverwood City.
He waits for her.
