Chapter 295: Chapter 295: She Is That First Love

As Nancy Allen was lost in thought, the audition slowly drew to a close.

Once the lead actress was finally chosen successfully, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief.

The chosen lead actress had a radiant and flamboyant appearance, perfectly fitting the image of the leading lady. She was a well-known actress in the industry with quite a status.

Barton Morgan beamed and said, "Congratulations, congratulations, I always thought Scarlett Walker was very suitable for our production, well-deserved."

Scarlett Walker smiled gracefully and replied calmly, "Director Morgan, you flatter me. I’m also very honored to participate in Director Harris’s project. I heard that the role of the supporting actress, first love, hasn’t been cast yet. I have an unusual request; I wish to introduce my sister for a try. She’s not professionally trained, but she truly fits the character well."

Barton Morgan glanced at Director Harris. As a good leader, he refrained from interfering in areas outside his expertise; he was merely observing the casting process, leaving the main decision-making to Director Harris.

Director Harris, in good spirits today as the basic roles had been confirmed, immediately agreed, "You know I have high standards. If you recommend her, she must be good. Let’s have her try."

Scarlett Walker immediately smiled and said, "Thank you, Director Harris."

She immediately asked her assistant to bring in the person.

A young woman, as delicate as a willow, stepped forward.

The woman was very beautiful, wearing very light makeup, intentionally giving her a slight air of sickness. Her audition for a grave illness scene was riveting, as if she were genuinely gravely ill.

Director Harris praised her, "Not bad, go back and wait for the news."

With joy on her face, the woman glanced at Scarlett Walker and swiftly left the audition room.

Scarlett Walker eagerly said, "Director Harris, what do you think? My sister isn’t very good at acting. If there’s anything she didn’t do well, I can teach her gradually."

Having spoken to this extent, Director Harris still said, "I’ll consider it."

Scarlett Walker did not press further, knowing Director Harris’s meticulous nature.

Yet for this role, she believed no one could be more suitable than her sister.

Her sister wanted to enter the entertainment industry, using Director Harris’s film as a stepping stone. It could be a skyrocket to success.

Director Harris considered carefully; while the performance was indeed good and her appearance somewhat fit the role of the main character’s first love who dies, he wasn’t fully satisfied. This character had few scenes but was crucial throughout the drama. The current actress had the fragility down, but her expression was off.

He didn’t want a weak and sorrowful fairy.

He wanted a white first love, soft as snow on the outside, yet cold and aloof at its core.

The reason Director Harris’s works were successful was largely because of his perfectionism, refusing to settle unless he had to.

At this moment, Director Harris was hesitating. The role of first love had been hard to cast, with many auditioning, yet none pleased him. The performer before him was the best he’d seen in some time.

Just as Director Harris prepared to agree, planning to give it a try, he caught a glimpse of a scene behind him from the corner of his eye.

The temperature in the audition room was high. At some point, without Elijah Jefferson realizing it, Nancy Allen had removed her hat and mask. She lay lightly on the table, her white fur draping around her face.

Upon first glance, the scene was as white as snow, like a white fox lazily lying in the snow, extremely soft, but her eyes were colder than the snow itself.

Director Harris suddenly stood up.

Everyone was startled by him.

Director Harris took two steps toward Nancy Allen, excitedly exclaiming, "There she is, the perfect first love!"

Nancy Allen sat up from the table, frowning slightly.

Director Harris was even more ecstatic, "Yes, yes, exactly this feeling! Her every smile and frown is like a cluster of snow that no one can touch but lives in everyone’s hearts."

The others’ reactions were milder, but both Scarlett Walker and the woman who had just auditioned changed their expressions.

Elijah Jefferson held back the approaching Director Harris with a smile, saying, "Calm down, Director Harris. She’s not part of the industry, just came to watch."

Director Harris remained enthusiastic, "It doesn’t matter if she’s not in the industry. If she can’t act, I can guide her. Trust me, the role was crafted for her."

Seeing Director Harris’s excitement, Barton Morgan blankly stared at Nancy Allen’s face; he whispered to Elijah Jefferson, "Third brother, I can’t believe you had such a hidden beauty. Give her to me, and I guarantee she’ll be famous online within two years—no, within one year."

Elijah Jefferson, helpless, replied, "Aren’t you two done yet? So many people in the industry to choose from, don’t set your sights on her. She’s not in good health."

Director Harris immediately clapped, "That’s exactly why I need someone not in good health—perfect! I’ll arrange her scenes without tiring her."

Elijah Jefferson chuckled wryly, "Her voice isn’t good either; she can’t speak."

Director Harris, having regressed repeatedly, said, "It doesn’t matter if she can’t speak. There aren’t many lines for that character anyway. We can dub her in post-production, or I could change the script to make her mute, which fits the character and could evoke more sympathy."

The director, usually so strict, speaking to this extent, left everyone present astounded.

Elijah Jefferson looked over at Nancy Allen. Whether she agreed or not was her decision.

Elijah Jefferson asked, "Nancy, do you want to try? Staying in your current vortex isn’t helping anything; why not step out and experience another story? Maybe she can understand many things."

Nancy Allen looked at Elijah Jefferson, her cold eyes silently questioning, really?

Elijah Jefferson gently encouraged, "Give it a try."

Barton Morgan, standing aside, was amazed. Their normally cold and stern third brother was speaking so warmly to this little fairy.

Barton Morgan also encouraged, "Yes, yes, give it a try. They say art imitates life; it’s very fun."

Without realizing it, Barton Morgan spoke softly to Nancy Allen, as if afraid a louder voice would startle her.

After a moment of hesitation, Nancy Allen replied, taking out paper and pen to write, "I can’t act."

Seeing hope, Director Harris immediately retorted, "It’s okay; you hardly need to act for this role. Just stand there. Whatever you don’t know, I’ll teach you."

Nancy Allen finally nodded; perhaps a change of pace would do her good.

Director Harris showed a deeply satisfied expression; no one could understand the joy in a director’s heart when finding the perfect actor for a cherished role.

Barton Morgan felt it was acceptable too. Though their third brother came late, this beauty he brought made up for it. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Elijah Jefferson’s expression was gentle; Nancy agreeing to a change of scenery was positive.

Only Scarlett Walker, from the sidelines, cast a dark look at Nancy Allen.

Seeing Nancy Allen’s face, which would easily provoke jealousy among women, her expression grew increasingly gloomy.

Without a word, Scarlett Walker turned to leave. At the door, the woman in the floral dress hurriedly approached and nervously asked, "Sister, how is it? Was I chosen?"

With a frigid voice, Scarlett Walker replied, "Some vixen took the spot. We’ll discuss it later."

The woman’s eyes immediately reddened, tears threatening to fall.

Scarlett Walker comforted her pityingly, "Sister, don’t worry, there will be other opportunities. It’s easy for a crew to make things difficult for a newcomer. I’ll be acting alongside her, I’ll find a way to drive her off."

"Okay, thank you, sister."
