"How convenient." Rekha stated.

Nodding, Maureen agreed. "The husband disappears after signing the documents agreeing to sell, I bet they killed him." She aired her thoughts.

"Well, they had another thing coming because I refused to leave this land, I told them that I would not take the money, and I would rather wait for my husband in our home. They did not raise an argument and Jonas, and his crooks left. I did not hear a word from them for a while, in fact I thought they had given up but two weeks later, rouges ransacked my house one night. One of them was very cruel, he took my dignity then stabbed me in my stomach to silence my screams." She narrated the sad ordeal.

The women gasped. Silence was all they had in response to what Latoya had said. Who defiled a pregnant woman? What kind of evil man did such a terrible thing?

Mahone shook his head, still refusing to believe. "But that does not mean that the Rice family did it. In fact, maybe your husband accepted the money and run off. You have said it yourself that the two of you were thieves." He defended his family's honor.

"Former thieves!" Latoya screamed. "That man that stabbed me said that I should have listened and left when I had the chance, but since I was stubborn, he was sending me to join my no-good husband whose body was in the sea." Latoya shared the last words she heard before she was stabbed in the heart and killed.

Shutting her eyes, Latoya swallowed the lump that formed in her hollow chest. "As I floated in confusion right next to my bleeding body, three men from the Rice family strolled in with smiles on their faces. They covered their noses as if the stench of my blood was too disgusting to smell.

Then, they buried me right there in my own living room, making sarcastic statements like 'now she gets to really be part of the land that she loved so much. She must be truly happy.' Over the years, I have watched as they went ahead to construct buildings on the land, thriving and growing. The ones that killed me died and a new generation kept up. Their family continued to grow and thrive happily, karma did not touch them even once.

I waited patiently for years for someone to find my remains and bury me. All I wanted to tell my story and tell the world what they had done to me. I did not become vengeful or bother the humans not until that idiot dug me up and instead of doing the right thing, he hid my bones and planned to dispose of them and forget about me. All you people from the Rice family are the same." Her tone escalated towards the end.

In a surprising twist of events, the first person to react was Mahone Rice.

Mahone's knees suddenly hit the ground hard, words tumbling out of his mouth. "Forgive me, please. I had no idea what happened to you, and I can assure you that I am a good person. I don't know what the old Rice family was like, but we are not like them today. We even do charity all over the world. We have built homes for the misplaced and homeless in war torn zones.

We are really not bad people, if you have been watching over us like you say then you know this. I promise that I will get you a good place to rest and buy the most expensive coffin. I will bury you with honor and have your name and that of your husband included in the history of the city as contributors." He promised in a repentant voice.

"It is true, the newer generation was different from the first one. I have long worked out my resentment and won't put the sins of your ancestors on you. While I don't appreciate what you did in the beginning, I am glad that you are ashamed enough to repent and learn from your mistake. I have kept my husband and daughter waiting long enough. When is my burial, I want to move on." Latoya massaged her phantom belly.

Phoebe smiled warmly at the ghost. "You do not have to wait any longer, I will make sure that this man fulfills his promise." She assured the ghost and handed it a magic crystal. "This will help guide you to them in case you cannot find them. We will pray for you to reincarnate and live as a family again. This time, without the tragedy."

Latoya smiled at them. "Thank you, kind witches." She bowed and vanished.

By 4:30pm that evening, Mahone had finished all the preparations to lay Latoya to rest. He even buried her in one of the most auspicious burial grounds near the sea such that she could be closer to her husband.

If he knew where her husband's body had been buried in the sea, he would have salvaged it.

"You really went all out." Maureen said to him as they placed flowers the grave.

"After what my family put hers through, this is nothing at all. We were just lucky that Latoya did not kill us all. I hope that their souls can now rest in peace." He raised his eyes to the heavens.

Phoebe patted his back. "The building is free from haunting now Mr. Mahone, we are done here." She told him. "Oh, save me a condo. Don't worry, I will pay."

"Save me...." Phoebe counted how many condos she needed. "Mom and dad, Collin and Shanna, Luke and Luna, Andre and Sabrina, grandpa and grandma, Rekha, David and I....eight condos."

Mahone let out a small squeal. If people heard that the Mayfair's had bought condos there, they would rush to purchase as well. And along with the Mayfair's would come Saxon's.

"Wait. Make it nine. Miranda has been good to me; I should give her a gift as her daughter-in-law." Phoebe said.

"That makes it ten condos." Maureen told him. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"Eleven." Phoebe snapped her fingers. "Grandpa and grandma Saxon too."

Mahone Rice made the calculations in his mind, he was going to make two hundred seventy-five million. And for the work they had done, he had paid twelve million.

"Aunt, lets pay now." Phoebe suggested, rubbing her stomach in circles.

Janice brought the paperwork, Phoebe, Maureen and Rekha signed it and paid in full for all eleven condos immediately.

"High end, beach views, top floors only." Maureen emphasized.

"Yes ma'am." Janice nodded.

"Only...only the best for you." Mahone bellowed, laughing so hard that he started to choke and Janice had to slap his back.

"You need to raise her salary." Maureen said.

Mahone was in a good mood, and he nodded. "I will double it."

After the transaction, they watched him board a helicopter back to the mainland and they went sightseeing.

They enjoyed the day at the beach, had lunch and then found their way back to the Mayfair manor.

That evening, Phoebe's marriage dominated the headlines with many calling her a real-life princess.
