Chapter 50: A weird fight

It was as if her body had its own thoughts, and she wasn’t agreeing to it.

Amelia knew that she should run away from the situation to save herself.

However, her body refused to move, controlled by some other identity. Her hand reached for the dagger, and as soon as the first man rushed to her, memories from her past life of how she used to fight those rogues resurfaced.

Her body moved independently as she dodged the attack before raising her hand and striking the man with the dagger.

Slit!

One neat cut. And the man’s dead body fell on the ground.

The three other men who rushed towards the girl simultaneously, looked at her, and paused.

Did this tiny girl kill their leader in one single strike?

Was it just pure luck?

They attacked her together, and this time her body went into autopilot mode. She jumped, slid down, bent, and rolled to the side to dodge their attacks while landing sharp attacks at the same time.

Amelia felt shocked at her actions. She didn’t know what was going on. Her mind was telling her to move her body like that, and she was moving instinctively; that looked more like muscle memory now.

The mark on her hand ached terribly, and she winced in pain, gritting her teeth.

She looked at her mark, which was oozing a little blood. Due to her lack of attention in the fight, she couldn’t dodge the man in time, and he ended up slicing her hand from top to bottom.

Amelia jumped backwards before looking at the only remaining guy.

She spat the blood in her mouth before smiling at the man, looking like a madwoman.

The man gulped when he saw her eyes brightening a little.

Amelia attacked the man and held his hand before throwing him over her shoulders. She sat on his back and twisted his hand.

The sickening sound of his scream echoed in the silent forest before she twisted his neck and stood from her place.

Aaron and his brothers, who heard the scream, paired with the thick scent of blood, followed the trail.

To say they were surprised when they reached the place was an understatement.

Amelia was sitting on a large rock at some distance from the dead bodies, blood dripping from her hand.

She looked dazed.

"Amelia!" Ryan rushed to her, changing back into his human form.

Amelia, lost in her thoughts, looked up.

"These were the same men who planned that attack," she said.

"Who did this for them?" Aaron asked.

Amelia’s fists clenched as she adjusted the dagger on her thigh under her dress.

"A man in a hood came and saved me. He left as soon as he killed the last one," Amelia lied.

It was hard to believe that someone had left the place without them noticing it.

Then again, it was no man’s land, which wasn’t impossible.

Aaron looked at the girl and her bleeding hand and quickly took out his handkerchief before tying it around the cut to stop the bleeding. It wasn’t enough.

He took Derrick’s and Ryan’s handkerchief too.

"We will deal with the bodies. You take her to the pack doctor," Derrick said, and Ryan nodded.

He helped Amelia inside the car after their beta quickly pulled up.

Amelia was still in shock as she was ushered into the car.

Everything happened so quickly that it was hard for her to believe what was real anymore.

In her previous life, she was a fighter, a good one, thanks to the rogue life and survival instincts she developed over time.

But her body wasn’t compatible with that kind of strenuous fight in this life. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Why the hell did it feel like her body had gone on autopilot? And why did that mark burn like hell when all that was happening? Why did it glow? And more importantly, how could she see everything beforehand?

These men’s presence and words still echoed in her mind.

Her mind felt like it was going numb from all the thinking.

She groaned and leaned back in the seat.

Ryan looked at the girl in concern, urging the driver to drive faster, wondering if she was in too much pain.

"I am sorry, Amelia. We should’ve ensured your safety. This happened near our pack. You were coming to cure our mother, and you ended up getting hurt instead. What will we tell your father—?" Ryan stopped mid-sentence, remembering how her father treated her.

Amelia didn’t say anything.

Her heart was still beating fast. She wanted to go to someone who could make her feel at ease and protected.

Left with no choice, she hugged herself before leaning on the windowsill until they reached the pack’s doctor.

Everyone started gasping and murmuring in hushed whispers.

They already heard about the girl being attacked near the pack, but the news that made them whisper was that they heard she was here to cure their former Luna.

Once Amelia had been treated by the doctor and had her hand bandaged, she looked at Ryan and asked him to take her to their mother’s chamber.

"Are you sure about it? You can do it later or some other day. You should have some rest for now," Ryan said.

Amelia smiled at him.

"Thank you for the concern, but it’s nothing. It’s just a small cut that will heal slowly. Besides, if I can really do something for your mother, it will be a leap in my research. I would be delighted," Amelia said.

Ryan looked at the similar glow in her eyes when talking about her research in the seminar room and hummed.

The girl was really passionate.

"So, if you can heal our mother, how do you plan on coming and seeing her?" Ryan asked, starting a small talk to end the awkward silence.

Or maybe because he just wanted to keep listening to her.

"We will see that," Amelia didn’t say much, and Ryan sighed dejectedly, not probing again.
