Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 106: The other special enrollee
The two mentors had personally recruited only two special enrollees this year.
Naturally, they would come to receive them.
The instant they reached the gates, their gazes locked onto Zora.
Dressed in white, calm and composed, she stood out too much to be overlooked.
"Zora, you’ve arrived." Sebastian smiled warmly.
Zora gave a respectful bow. "Greetings, elders."
Miel stepped closer, his eyes sweeping over her before he nodded in satisfaction. "Your aura is steadier than before. Your strength has improved."
Zora smiled lightly. "I was fortunate enough to break through recently."
She had already been close to the mid-stage of the Sky realm. After the life-and-death battle with Serestia, her comprehension deepened, and the breakthrough came naturally along the way.
Sebastian nodded approvingly. "Since you’re here, go settle in first. Check what supplies you still need, and later you can observe the admission assessment."
Then he turned to Raphael. "Raphael, take Zora inside."
Raphael nodded at once. "Miss Zora, come with me."
Zora bowed again before following him through the academy gates.
Barbara, who had been waiting to see her embarrassed, felt as if her soul had been struck out of her body.
She didn’t need to queue.
She walked straight in.
Reesa crossed her arms and lifted her chin proudly. "Did you see that? Special enrollment passage. Zora doesn’t belong in the same line as the rest of you."
Only then did the surrounding practitioners finally react.
The empty passage.
The mentors’ personal welcome.
Raphael escorting her inside.
Everything made it unmistakably clear.
Zora was not just different.
She stood on an entirely different level.
"This woman in white... she’s really a special enrollment student!"
"My heavens, no wonder she felt so extraordinary!"
The practitioners who had mocked Zora moments earlier immediately changed their tune.
Special enrollment students were an existence above ordinary disciples within the academy.
It was already too late to curry favor, but who would dare offend such a person now?
"I heard the number of special enrollment slots is extremely small, and their status is far higher than that of regular students."
Barbara’s face turned faintly pale.
She never imagined that the person she had offended so arrogantly in Heavenly City would turn out to be one of the academy’s special enrollees.
Two slots.
Only two.
And she had managed to provoke one of them.
Reesa, on the other hand, beamed brightly. She hadn’t expected Zora to be a special enrollee either, but one thing was certain.
No matter what identity Zora held, they were friends.
Seeing Reesa’s radiant smile, Barbara felt even more irritated. "Reesa, don’t get too smug!"
"I am getting smug," Reesa shot back cheerfully. "What are you going to do about it?"
That single sentence nearly made Barbara choke on her anger.
Meanwhile, Zora followed Raphael deeper into the academy. Only after passing through the gates did the true scale of the institution reveal itself.
Grand buildings stood in neat order, training grounds stretched wide and open, and martial platforms filled the area. One could easily imagine the daily cultivation and sparring that took place here.
"Miss Zora," Raphael said, pointing toward a warm-toned building off to the side, "that orange-yellow complex is where ordinary students reside."
Zora raised her brows slightly. "Special enrollment students live separately?"
"Of course," Raphael replied with a smile. "Special enrollees are held to much higher standards. Since their strength already surpasses that of ordinary students, practicing together would only slow them down."
"Therefore, whether it’s accommodation or cultivation, special enrollment students are separated from regular disciples."
As Raphael continued explaining, Zora quickly understood the reasoning.
When practitioners of vastly different levels trained together, conflicts and inefficiencies were inevitable.
"Of course," Raphael added, "if an ordinary student shows exceptional improvement, they can earn the chance to cultivate alongside special enrollment students."
"The special enrollment quarters are single-occupancy rooms with complete facilities. Ordinary students share rooms. It’s also a form of motivation."
Zora nodded. "That makes sense."
"In this intake," Raphael continued, "there are only two special enrollment students. One is you. The other is Baldwin."
"He arrived earlier and lives right next to you. You can meet him later."
As they walked, Raphael gestured toward a towering structure ahead. "This is the academy’s most famous cultivation tower."
"The cultivation tower?"
"There’s an array beneath it that gathers natural energy and converts it into pure spiritual energy inside. Cultivating inside gives several times the normal effect. However, entering requires contribution points."
Hearing this, Zora finally realized why students from the academy advanced so much faster than ordinary practitioners.
Contribution points.
Cultivation towers.
Special privileges.
A faint smile curved her lips.
It seemed her life at the academy would be anything but dull. "This is where the special enrollment students live," Raphael said with a smile, pointing toward the red building ahead.
Zora lifted her gaze to study it. Compared to the other residences, the building looked far more refined. The structure was elegant, and each room appeared noticeably larger.
"The number of special enrollment students in the academy is small," Raphael continued, "so we all live here. If you need anything, you can come directly to the third floor to find me. My name is on the door. Alaric Von Seraph also lives on the third floor."
"Thank you, Senior," Zora replied sincerely.
Raphael’s guidance had already saved her considerable trouble. At least now, she wouldn’t need to fumble blindly through the academy.
Her room was on the second floor. As expected, the accommodation for special enrollment students was both spacious and comfortable.
A white wooden plaque was already hung on the door, engraved with four clear characters: Zora.
Inside, the room was wide and orderly. Everything she might need was already prepared, clearly cleaned, and replaced in advance.
"Before new students move in, all furnishings are renewed," Raphael explained. "If there’s anything you don’t like, you can change it yourself."
Zora smiled lightly. "No need. It’s already arranged very well."
The environment exceeded her expectations. For someone accustomed to simple living, this was more than satisfactory.
"That’s good," Raphael replied.
When Zora smiled, her exquisite features seemed to glow, an effortless brilliance blooming across her face. For a brief moment, Raphael found himself staring, momentarily lost.
He had seen many beauties, even the academy’s famed first beauty, yet none struck him quite like this. There was something about her presence that lingered.
Just then, a clear and warm voice broke the moment.
"Senior Raphael."
Raphael snapped back to himself and turned. "Baldwin."
Zora followed his gaze and saw a young man step out from the neighboring room. He wore a bright yellow robe, and the wooden plaque beside his door bore three characters: Baldwin.
He was tall and handsome, with an open, sunny smile. His expression was clean and straightforward, giving off an easy, approachable air.
"Baldwin," Raphael said, "this is the other special enrollment student, Zora."
Zora inclined her head slightly. "Hello."
Baldwin froze for a split second, clearly startled.
He truly hadn’t expected the other special enrollee to be such a beautiful woman, a neighbor at that. His luck felt almost unreal.
"Hello," Baldwin said quickly, his smile widening. "I’m Baldwin. I’m very happy to meet you. I think we’ll get along well from now on."
"I’m also pleased to meet you," Zora replied.
"The enrollment assessment is about to start," Baldwin added enthusiastically. "I’m planning to go take a look. Are you interested? We could go together."
