Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 107: Reesa’s Assessment
Zora nodded. "I was planning to watch as well."
Baldwin’s smile brightened even further.
Zora smiled faintly. Reesa and Nigel were both participating in the admissions assessment, so going to watch would be a good way to cheer them on.
Seeing that both Zora and Baldwin intended to head over, Raphael said with a grin, "In that case, let’s go together."
Zora had already settled her lodging and needed no further preparations, so the three of them set off immediately.
They walked toward the academy’s assessment grounds, sunlight spilling over them like liquid gold, warm and dazzling.
"Zora," Baldwin asked with a bright smile, "since we’re classmates now, can I just call you by your name?"
"Of course," Zora replied.
Within the academy, everyone was simply a student. Past identities no longer mattered, and addressing each other by name was the norm.
"Where are you from?" Baldwin asked curiously. "I’m from West Ocean CIty."
"I’m from the Imperial City of Elysia," Zora answered.
Baldwin’s eyes lit up. "The Imperial City? I’ve never been there! Is it really as prosperous as people say?"
"It’s lively," Zora said with a smile, "but Heavenly City is lively too."
"Heavenly City is way more bustling than West Ocean City," Baldwin laughed. "When I first arrived, I thought I’d accidentally wandered into...
Raphael cut in helplessly, "Baldwin, we’re almost there."
"Oh! Right!" Baldwin laughed sheepishly. "It really is crowded!"
Raphael shook his head. Baldwin was excellent in every regard, except that once he started talking, he forgot everything else.
Thankfully, he was the one accompanying him today. If Alaric Von Seraph were here instead... Raphael didn’t even dare imagine that scene.
A trace of amusement flickered in Zora’s eyes. Baldwin truly was a character all his own; even Raphael struggled to keep up with him.
Still, she understood why Baldwin had been selected as a special enrollee.
Such cultivators were often clear-minded and sincere. They spoke directly, harbored no hidden thoughts, and cultivated with a pure heart. This kind of disposition often led to remarkable achievements.
It sounded simple, yet very few could actually live that way.
Baldwin, however, seemed born with such a temperament.
The admissions assessment of the academy itself was straightforward.
The first stage recorded the applicant’s age and cultivation, allowing the instructors to evaluate potential.
The second stage required each candidate to demonstrate a martial art they had cultivated. This was not to judge the power of the technique, but to assess how well the practitioner had integrated it.
If cultivation reflected innate talent, then martial arts mastery reflected diligence and effort.
For cultivators, talent mattered, but perseverance mattered even more. This stage allowed the academy to gauge exactly that.
The third stage involved a brief sparring session with an instructor or senior student, testing practical combat ability.
As Zora, Raphael, and Baldwin arrived together, countless gazes turned toward them.
Without anyone saying a word, the surrounding practitioners already understood.
Zora and Baldwin were the two special enrollment students.
Reesa waved excitedly when she spotted Zora. Her first stage was already complete, and she was about to begin the martial arts demonstration.
"Zora!" Reesa hurried over, eyes shining. "I really didn’t expect you to be a special enrollee!"
Zora smiled faintly. "Reesa, let me introduce you. This is the other special enrollee, Baldwin."
Then she turned to him. "Baldwin, this is my friend, Reesa."
Baldwin looked at Reesa and froze for a split second.
A fiery figure paired with a loli-like face...
This contrast was far too striking.
Feeling his gaze, Reesa’s expression instantly darkened. She had long since grown helpless about her physique. She honestly didn’t know what she’d eaten growing up to end up like this.
"What are you staring at?" Reesa snapped. "Never seen a beauty before?"
Baldwin shook his head seriously, his expression earnest. "I really haven’t seen a beauty quite like you."
Reesa choked.
This guy... did he not hear the sarcasm in her words at all?
Or was he mocking her?
The problem was, his tone was so sincere that she didn’t even know how to get angry.
"Miss Reesa," Baldwin added with a bright smile, "I’m very happy to meet you."
Reesa stared at him for a moment, then silently looked away.
This was a special enrollee?
Completely different from the image she had imagined!
She simply couldn’t be bothered to continue the conversation and turned to Zora instead.
"Zora, I heard that the first two assessments are pretty simple. The real selection depends on the third one, right?"
Zora nodded lightly. "The martial arts demonstration is also very important. Just show the technique you’re most proficient in."
Reesa frowned. "Not the strongest one?"
"Not necessarily," Zora explained calmly. "They care about mastery. A powerful martial art doesn’t mean much if you haven’t fully grasped it. Proficiency scores higher."
"That’s right," Baldwin nodded vigorously. "Martial arts demonstrations are about control and understanding."
Reesa shot him a look. "What do you know?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"I really do," Baldwin replied earnestly. "My master explained it to me."
Reesa’s lips twitched. She truly didn’t know how to deal with this kind of person.
"Alright," she said at last, turning back to Zora. "I’ll listen to you. It’ll be my turn soon. I’m going to prepare."
"Good luck," Zora said with a smile.
Originally, Reesa had planned to display her strongest martial art. But after hearing Zora’s advice, she decisively changed her plan.
She trusted Zora. There was no reason for her to mislead her.
The same advice had also been passed on to Nigel.
Reesa had already reached the early-stage Sky Realm, so entering the academy should not be a problem. Nigel, however, was still in the late-stage Earth Realm and needed to seize every possible advantage.
As for Prince Philip...
From beginning to end, Zora did not spare him a single glance.
Even though the past had already settled, her impression of him would never improve. Indifference was the best outcome.
On the high platform, Reesa stepped forward.
She displayed a martial art that wasn’t the most explosive, nor the flashiest, but it flowed smoothly and naturally, every movement precise and practiced.
It was clear at a glance.
This was the technique she had refined the most.
Barbara watched as Reesa stepped onto the platform and revealed that particular martial art. A sharp flicker of mockery passed through her eyes.
With a technique like that, scoring high was simply impossible.
She herself had just unleashed her strongest martial art and only managed to earn ninety-two points. As for Reesa, getting eighty would already be considered decent.
On the platform, Reesa performed with confidence. Her movements were smooth and steady, and a gentle smile rested on her pretty face. Yet beneath her sleeves, her palms were damp with fine sweat.
If her score was too low, she might fail the academy’s assessment altogether.
The three instructors leaned toward one another, exchanging quiet words. After a brief moment, the instructor in the middle spoke clearly.
"Ninety-eight points."
The moment those words fell, a ripple of shock spread through the crowd. Countless gazes locked onto Reesa. This was the highest score given so far.
Barbara’s smile froze completely. She stared at Reesa in disbelief, her eyes wide.
That kind of martial art... ninety-eight points? How was that possible?
