Reborn as the Failed Lord with my Resource Gathering System.-Chapter 240: Teleportation.
Lying down on her thighs, Dorian suddenly felt a rush of comfort flood his entire system, leaving him immediately closing his eyes.
"Just look how tired you are, and you still intended on going to the project site to help them out there."
Ishtar slowly began to dig her fingers into his hair, massaging his scalp so he could feel even better than he already did.
Then she continued, all while Dorian’s eyes were slowly closing.
"You have a date with the Evernight Witch, correct?"
Dorian shook his head.
"If things go according to plan, then I will put an end to everything quicker."
Ishtar smiled, knowing deep in her heart her husband was planning something devious.
"You know, I don’t think married men should be agreeing to go on dates with witches. Surely you can see this, right, Husband?"
"..."
"..." Ishtar smiled terrifyingly.
"It was for you and the others. Yahoshi can be quite crazy when she wants to be."
Ishtar’s pupils went dark for a moment, but she quickly composed herself.
"It’s alright. You can rest now; I’ll handle the rest for you."
Dorian fought it. He tried so hard not to fall asleep then and there.
But the more he fought, the weaker his conviction got. It seemed as though anytime Ishtar stroked his hair, his heart would give in, and so would his endurance. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
As expected, it didn’t take long for Dorian to fall asleep on her lap like a baby.
Watching him sleep, Ishtar could not help but sigh.
"Honestly, for a man as impressive as yourself, you sure lack the ability to look after your own well-being."
Ishtar slowly began to trace the side of his cheeks, a smile slowly forming on her lips while looking at her husband’s sleeping face.
"Cute," she blurted out.
Just when she was about to kiss his forehead, the door to the room suddenly crashed open, with Maria walking into the room and Seraphina right behind her.
Ishtar was quick to look toward the door, seeing as both Maria and Seraphina were looking at her with a bit of shock on their faces.
"Good morning~" Ishtar greeted, wiggling her fingers at them.
This was followed by Maria narrowing her gaze judgmentally and Seraphina averting her gaze, guilt etched on her face.
...
Soon, Maria and Seraphina had settled on the ground right in front of Ishtar, ignoring the working table and chair not too far away from them.
After Maria explained to Ishtar how Seraphina was panicking about Dorian running away—while forgetting that he had placed Ishtar in one of the warehouses at the site to work on a particular thing for him—Ishtar laughed it off, finding it amusing if anything.
But then, when the discussion settled, they all turned to look at Dorian’s sleeping face.
Despite the fact it wasn’t the first time they were seeing it, they couldn’t help but think in every one of those times—
"Cute."
As soon as they uttered that word in unison, Seraphina raised her finger, hinting that she was about to ask a question.
"If Darling is still asleep, who is supposed to look after the entire project? I mean, normally I would have done so, but even I don’t understand a thing."
Maria chimed in as well.
"Isn’t Lord Dorian planning on building a bridge?"
"I mean, that is what we all thought as well. But Darling said something about wanting to do an advanced way of transportation so he could milk the royal family clean." Seraphina kept her hand on her jaw as she spoke.
"But what could be more advanced than that?" She tilted her head to the side. "Flight?"
Ishtar smiled.
Dorian had already told her what was what, so unlike the two oblivious women before her, she knew exactly what Dorian’s idea was.
Normally, she would have made them bribe her just to give out the information, but seeing as they needed to know it in order to help her sleeping husband, she had no choice but to let it go.
"Fine, I’ll tell you guys."
They both looked at Ishtar.
"Lord Dorian told you about the plan?" Maria had a somewhat calm look on her face, and yet, it seemed as though she was trying to interrogate her.
"Yes, yes he did." Ishtar made sure she wore the smug look perfectly, enough to make Seraphina’s eye twitch with jealousy. "Why else would he have told me to stay in this place all by myself?"
Trying to deceive everyone, Seraphina asked, a big, warm, robotic smile on her face.
"He did? Awesome... Now why don’t you just tell us what the plan is so we can get to work."
Ishtar immediately laughed after seeing Seraphina’s reaction.
She laughed so much that she began to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Seraphina immediately got embarrassed, her cheeks turning red as she squeezed her face in anger.
In truth, there was something far more important that they wanted to speak about—something far more sinister and worrying, something that could affect their husband, and potentially them as well.
But instead, for the sake of protecting their peaceful world, they all chose to act as though it didn’t exist.
And thus, Ishtar proceeded to explain how the process of Dorian’s project was supposed to go.
She began by stating that rather than building a long bridge across the vast ocean, Dorian wanted to use a different method: instant teleportation.
At the first mention, Ishtar could see the shock slowly grow on their faces.
"Teleportation?" Seraphina repeated.
"Yes. Using my powers, Husband thought of a way he could integrate it into the project."
In truth, since entering the Lord Rank, Ishtar had taken the role of the strongest female under Dorian, even going as far as having the possibility of rivaling the Child of Ragor.
For starters, her power worked in such a way that she could trap anything in a domain created by her.
Before getting the Lord Rank, the most she could do was open a single domain that would last for a while before it shattered.
But after reaching the Lord Rank, the possibilities were boosted tenfold.
Firstly, the number of domains she could create was beyond numbers, and each of them could last forever and cover a large distance, including the entire world if she wanted to.
Secondly, there was no limit to what she could do with each domain. As long as she could imagine it, it would be possible within her very own domain.
In this case, her domain was meant to be the main working component to make Dorian’s project successful.
Once the grid, towers, and portal castings had been built, Ishtar would be busy creating a domain. She would have built them to respond to one another, their sole purpose being to act as a gateway for moving from one distance to the other.
According to Dorian’s plan, one portal would be placed at the City of Hope, where most of the goods would be carried out from.
Then the portal would be connected to another at the center of the ocean, then moved on to the other portals which are all linked to different parts of the Sualan Kingdom.
Upon hearing this, though sounding very unbelievable, the girls all zoomed in on the map, trying to see if they could connect the dots.
"Now that I look at it, it’s rather unrealistic to expect a bridge over a large ocean like this," Maria pointed out.
"Fufu, people only let it go because it was Lord Dorian, the man who has pulled off the impossible several times already." Ishtar smiled. "In any case, this is what he had entrusted me with, and what I have been working on all this while."
Seraphina looked at her with puffed cheeks.
"Honestly, that man has the craziest ideas. But if this is what we have to do, then I am all for it."
She paused.
"Are you saying you already have the portal made or...?"
Ishtar, more than glad that Seraphina asked that question, grinned as she stretched both her hands forward.
Then, following that, were two round portals, appearing right on top of her palms.
"Stick your finger in," she instructed.
Both Maria and Seraphina didn’t move an inch.
"No." Maria was the first to speak, quickly excepting herself out.
"What she said. I am not sticking my finger in a strange hole, especially since I know everything is a gamble for you."
"You guys really have a bad image of me glued to your head. How rude, hahaha~" Ishtar laughed. "But trust me this once; you won’t regret it."
After contemplating it for a while, Maria decided to be brave and take the risk.
As she gently shoved her finger into the purple-looking portal, she was shocked to see her finger come out of the portal on the opposite hand.
Amazement quickly made its way to their features.
Ishtar actually did it like she said she could.
