Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 526: He takes her too seriously!
Chapter 526: Chapter 526: He takes her too seriously!
"Is the news cleaned up?" Brandon Piers frowned.
"Rest assured, it’s clean. They didn’t have time to publish before it was dealt with, and the young mistress won’t see it," Kelvin Max responded quickly.
"Hmm, ban that woman too." Thinking about the places he had been touched made Brandon uncomfortable. He had washed several times at Michael Piers’ place last night, but it still felt wrong.
"Rest assured, I’ve already given the order. Best Actor Piers’ side will also cooperate." Kelvin Max sighed inwardly. Nowadays, actresses would do anything to get famous. What was she thinking touching someone like that? Did she have a death wish?
"Hmm." Brandon Piers nodded.
At that moment, the car arrived at the manor. Brandon thought for a moment. "You come along too."
Kelvin Max understood and followed.
As soon as Brandon entered the house, he saw Abigail standing dazed at the top of the stairs. He paused, about to speak, but Abigail suddenly looked up.
The woman stared at him for a moment, her eyes falling on his fresh clothes. She wanted to ask something, but her mouth only managed, "Let’s have breakfast."
Then she walked towards the dining room.
Brandon followed instinctively.
Kelvin Max noticed something was off with the young mistress. She must have known Brandon hadn’t come home all night. After Abigail sat down, he quickly explained, "Young master drank with Best Actor Piers and the others last night. It got too late, so he stayed over."
Even though Kelvin had prepared himself, the abrupt explanation still felt awkward.
Abigail’s hands and feet went cold. She hadn’t expected Brandon to lie to her.
And bringing Kelvin to lie too? Did he think she wasn’t humiliated enough, or did he consider her stupid?
And why Kelvin instead of Pullan? Was he worried Pullan’s poor psychological quality would expose the lie?
Truly unnecessary!
She wanted to open the news on her phone and slam it in Brandon’s face. But when she opened it, not only was the news she saw gone, the actress had no mention anywhere, as if everything from the morning was her illusion.
Even that actress seemed like a figment of her imagination.
Abigail instantly understood why the man was so confident. He had cleaned up his trail thoroughly.
So what was the point of asking?
She always knew this man had powerful means, but she hadn’t expected them to be used on her one day.
Putting away her phone, Abigail suppressed the sudden fury she felt, focused on eating. Her body was still cold, and she couldn’t muster the spirit to talk with the man.
After Kelvin finished speaking, he saw the young mistress playing with her phone for a while before resuming her meal quietly. He anxiously looked at Brandon.
Brandon knew he was wrong for staying out all night. But now that he gave an explanation and she still didn’t react, what was with her attitude?
Furious, Brandon looked at Kelvin. "You can leave."
Kelvin felt relieved and quickly left the dining room.
Abigail kept her head down, eating. But the food that usually tasted good now felt like chewing wax. Her stomach was uncomfortable, so she put down her chopsticks. "I’m done."
She stood up to leave.
Brandon looked at her barely touched food and slammed his chopsticks on the table.
Abigail’s body trembled slightly as she got up but left without a word.
Brandon felt a fury burning in his chest. The resolution he had made because of Michael Piers’ words last night suddenly reignited.
He thought he had taken her too seriously, which made her not take him seriously.
He laughed coldly at himself and left the dining room.
The head chef saw the barely touched food on the returned plates and asked, "Young master hasn’t come back yet?"
"He has," replied one of the maids, continuing with her work.
The head chef stiffened. "The young master came back but left so much food—was he dissatisfied with my cooking?"
The entire kitchen tensed up.
Meanwhile, Abigail stood at the bottom of the stairs, dazed for a moment, trying to recall her usual morning activities.
She first went to the nursery to check on Teddy.
The weather was getting colder, making morning strolls inconvenient for Teddy. Housekeeper Piers had built a playroom with a mini amusement park for the child.
When Abigail entered, Teddy was curiously sitting among a pile of ocean balls, and little Tate was crawling around excitedly.
Seeing her son so happy, Abigail’s heart felt even heavier.
The worst human trait is being particularly lenient toward someone or something without expectations. But once expectation sets in, harshness follows.
When she first took on this marriage with no expectations from Brandon, agreeing only to stop Ruby Green and stay with Teddy, her life was calm and steady. She rarely experienced emotional swings and never felt the pain of betrayal.
Traditional Flowery medicine frowned upon extreme sadness or anger.
And she had already experienced these swings multiple times this morning.
Sighing softly, Abigail reminded herself it was only going back to a few months ago. She didn’t need to torture herself this much.
But despite telling herself this, the pain was uncontrollable.
She had never felt such a consuming emotion with her former crush on her senior. The pain now was so intense she could barely stand.
"Ba-ba-ba..." Just as Abigail was lost in her thoughts, Teddy, playing quickly, noticed his mother and happily babbled.
Abigail snapped back to reality, trying to steady her emotions. "Little rascal, say ’mommy.’"
"Ba-ba-ba... ba-ba..." Teddy stared at his mother’s mouth, still making the same sounds.
Abigail gave a wry smile.
Aunt Claudia looked at her worriedly. "Abigail, didn’t you sleep well last night? You look pale."
"Are you not feeling well? Maybe you should see a doctor," Kelly interjected, holding back the child, turning her head.
Aunt Claudia questioned, "Abigail, what’s wrong? Where do you feel unwell?"
"I’m fine, just got up too quickly. I’ve been exercising a lot lately, and I have low blood sugar. I’ve eaten, and I feel better." Abigail smiled.
But Aunt Claudia remained unconvinced. "Really? Don’t lie to me!"
"Why would I lie about my own body? It’s fine, don’t worry," Abigail tried to appear as normal as possible.
"Alright, but don’t exercise today. Losing weight isn’t an overnight task. It’s the weekend; get some rest. Kelly and I will take care of Teddy. Don’t worry."
Abigail nodded, fearing she might lose control of her emotions and be discovered by Aunt Claudia and Kelly. She also worried her bad mood would affect Teddy.
But as soon as she left the playroom, the smile on Abigail’s face disappeared.
